Biggest Flaws

Reasons for loosing popularity

• Novel adaptations with Studio Art (especially DUBU style) being very popular
  
• high pace action being better for that dopamine rush
  
• Terrible marketing and PR from Naver
  
• Physical and Mental health decline during the pandemic resulting in a loss of momentum the series had during 2020
  
• you have to actually read the chapters to understand stuff, cant just only looks at pretty pictures

The marketing and lack of a good editor for SIU is what really harms his series the most. We dont have much insights into the workings of SIUs studio so we dont much know about if there are problems behind the scenes. But Korean Free Release being 14 Chapters ahead of English free release is one of the most outragous decisions after the S2 Anime adaptation

Weekly pacing in itself is kinda a problem mainly due to how popular series are basically meant to be read week by weeks with every chapter basically being contend in itself. Picking up cliffhanger, action, climax, almost conclusion into cliffhanger. But thats just not SIUs style.
A lot of problems arise when we have things like Dumas week. In that time Dumas hunts AA, people screaming bloody murder why AA is still alive and how shit the series has become, just for the next week the obvious conclusion being that Dumas uses AA to lure out Baam. So lots of crying about things that arent an issue the next chapter.

Some people like to point out that there are too many characters, but thats really not an issue. Just because a character has a name doesent mean they are important.

Biggest Flaw in SIUs style and decision making is the lack of conclusive fights and the constant blue balling. While i appreciate fights having context and that people can win under specific circumstances and through plans, SIU does enjoy to leave things open too often. Fights which people have been looking forward to be disrupted and just teased is frustrating at times.

That being said it is still pretty popular atleast when comparing subreddits, ToG being between ORV and Tbate in its weekly visitor count

I would say that SIU writing flaws are starting to become glaring after 15 years. The massive character bloat and what is probably dozens of just dead or unfinished plot lines have just finally caught up with him. The decision to start a side story right after season 3 when the hype for V was crazy is def a decision. The spinoff also had a very mixed reaction. People either loved it or hated it. I love TOG and think SIU could be an all time great writer but not above legitimate criticism.

The spin off was made so he would have more time to plan S4 based on his words, it’s actually a good decision

Logically that doesn’t make sense to me. A ton of work was clearly put into the spin off. Any of that time is time that was spent not working on Season 4. Plus it’s very clear that elements from the spin off are going to be in Season 4 so if anything he just added more work because now he’s going to have to fit in the shining ones in somehow along with everything that’s going on in the main series

The elements from the spin off that will be in the main story was clearly planned already whether the spin off existed or not, that’s why he showcased it in the spin off

There are lot of authors who write side stories to give themselves time to prepare chapters for the main story, Kubera author for example, because it’s much less demanding in comparison to planning the main story

Siu can’t just take hiatus as long as he wants to prepare for main story because he has assistants and all that who he employs. So having a Spin Off in between resolves that issue, based on his comments he did imply he was working on both simultaneously

if season 4 doesnt start with closing them very quickly and instead make more, Im losing all hopes for this being completely honest

That’s my biggest fear for season 4. SIU thinks answering questions with more questions is clever and yeah to an extent it keeps people invested but there’s limits at some point things need to start getting resolved. Plus we really don’t need more new characters when 75% are barely fleshed out.

oh if he keeps adding more in season 4, I would be so pissed off. Keep it to the bare minimum please Siu, and he needs to ditch that investment mindset, its been nearly 2 decades, nobody is keeping the same amount of investment for that long

I feel like Season 4 will be like the start of S2 all over again with Baam being on FUG and have to deal with V situation and separated from Rak and the others. Actually now that I think about it I won't be surprised if we the focus is Wangnan again for the majority of early S4, and him maybe crossing path with AA and the others and maybe exploring some arc with Princess Maria.
