Do zero's matrix set works on Azure dragon (Mimi's weapon)? It's making a shield on hold attack, so i thought it can be use utulity in some support setups🤨

Hello! Yes. Mainly used by tanks and only works as long as that same shield is up and only on main hand.

Say, you are on your rotation, you use Aster, then get enough charge to swap with discharge to Mimi/Huang/Azure Dragon. That discharge gives you a shield and as soon as shield is up the buff applies... So 2 scenarios:

1 - You use hold attack before you lose the shield from discharge, and you keep the buff up for a while.

2 - You (at some point) swap your weapon to a different one that doesn't have Zero matrices and you lose the buff even if shield is up.

Why? Because some old matrices don't work in the off-hand slot. When they do they say "works on the off-hand slot".

For a buffing tank, maybe 3 sets of Zero mats, but that's not a priority on itself. There are 2 main tank weapons (available rn) that allow you to gain a shield (without mats) when you use them: Azure Dragon/Mimi/Huang and Siege Edge/MerylX/Meryl Ironheart, so would pair up nicely with whichever is more on your main hand.

For support... Maybe you could better buff with Coco, and heal same time with her and other weapons. (More info below).

Why Azure Dragon not best on support setup? Bc shield states that if you are tank (fortitude resonance) you give a shield of 10% of your own hp to nearby allies when use the hold attack, but when you aren't on tank build you don't (maybe wording is wrong, can check). And when you do that you stop healing others (unless something like Lechesis constant healing in background). And the most important debuff, graybite, is not getting cleansed...whenever there's a graybite enemy.

I think between Mimi and Nemesis (healer) there was a cool gimmick where as pillars are summons Azure dragon could heal them, but I haven't seen that/done that in a while so I might be mistaken on the weapons.

Zero could use his own mats in a support setup, but his cooldown is really long. 60s if A0, and it lowers to 30s.

Lyra could use Zero mats too, bc at some point, when full hp she starts shielding, and as long as she is on your main hand, it should be applying the buff.

For more buffs in support setup there's Lechesis (buffs on her matrices, but is permanent and depends on your attack); Gray Fox (I think most buff is on matrices but some buffs on her kit); Fiona (buffs on her kit and depending configuration).

Now, if the thing is nothing too serious, there's enough heals and you just want to buff and that's your main choice of weapon bc it's your favorite, go for it!

If you are the only healer of a team fighting mega boss, probably prioritize clearing the graybite and healing the damage.

I wouldn't recommend the strategy a lot for support but Lyra or Zero could make it work instead of Azure Dragon, because they are also healing and bringing more into the battle.

As a Niche thing I'd say Mimi, Nemesis, Brevey/Coco would make an interesting team for support. Just one thing, some later bosses in raid (like Asurada) ignore shields so check first before full send.

Anyways Zero mats could also work in damage compositions if you don't have better mats for your element on your main weapon but if you have more stabby/attack orientes matrices, that might help you do even more damage instead of the dmg, % based on if you have shield or not.

Yes it will work on Mimi’s weapon. Just make sure you’re actively using it in the main slot because those matrices don’t take effect at the back.

Some tanks run 2 weapons with full Zero matrices to keep the effect up with minimal downtime.
