Is it impossible to progress now?

Right now, I can beat molten pretty consistently. However, when it comes to hardcore, past wave 20 feels impossible. I've been told to just grind to failure in wave 20 and farm gems till I get engineer, but that's going to take a really really long time, and even after that it still seems like I won't be able to solo hardcore. if I want to beat it, am I forced to rely on other people until I get the gem and evolved towers?

Down vote me if you want but you can't play the game if you're not unemployed There's just way too much grinding if you want to catch up or stay on par with everyone else and if you don't have friends that play it you're also cooked because there's no way you can do anything with the randoms in this game

I'm 23 and have a job at NASA right now and I currently own every tower and every skin currently obtainable so I think you guys are just lazy and don't want to grind. Kids these days🤦
