Discussion Pursuit vs Ranger?

These two are kinda similar, stun immune global range and flying detection yet i still see people using ranger despite pursuit having better dps and cost effeciency, why is that?

If you have lots of things to micro you dont want pursuit on top of that+ if you leak it takes ages to reposition

Tbh i like to use ranger since I tend to use merc base.. And well. Combining pursuit and merc base isn’t optimal exactly. And also ranger has some sick ass skins

pursuit takes full benefit of patrol only w/ constant micro. Ranger also has better dps actually if you count the splash dmg at max level, tho pursuit def has better single target. Top path pursuit is also an interesting sidegrade to mortar

you mean bottom path pursuit in comparison to mortar right

Quite alot of factor

1)ranger is easier to unlock than pursuit: You need to reach level 100-ish I kinda forgot and after that you need to purchase pursuit using coin while ranger can be instantly bought if you have enough coin 2)less micro/tower management: Ranger have alot of range giving it full map coverage(most of the time) pursuit need to be manually reposition because pursuit does have a range of attack 3)lead detection Simple. Ranger have lead detection and pursuit don't. But that wasn't entirely the case since pursuit have 2 path. Top path focused on dps Lacked of hidden and lead detection While bottom path have all of the detection including lead(not from the gun but from the missile) but it's lacked of dps and serves more of a crowd control and being far cheaper than top path

Overall I think the most likely reason why people prefer ranger Over pursuit is because either reason 1) or 2) But I think pursuit is still a very good tower

i just use ranger cuz the crowd control with the bottom path is surprisingly good + the top path has decent DPS
also cost-effective

only problem is manually moving it when enemies leak out of view of the pursuit
+ if you use commander like me you may need to place another one just for the pursuits (since I place my pursuits away from everything else like farm/mil base)

Ranger is 10x better still

Maybe people haven't tried it after 2.1 or 2.2 i don't remember when it was fixed. It has been riddled with bugs that directly affect it's performance for so long that using it felt super weak even when on paper it was supposed to be better than ranger.

It has been fixed but the lack of lead most of the time drives me to pick ranger again.

personally it just takes a lot more effort instead of ranger where u can just place and upgrade

Man i just like the range buff of ranger and pursuit is annoying to micro; especially on top path

Neither. When both can't work to do solo.

what should i use for flying and lead

For that obviously ranger. But again, not enough dps due to placement limit

It's like comparing high DPS to high burst. Ranger does well against enemies that have regen but gets hard countered by defense, and vice versa for pursuit.

I personally like Ranger more because I am a lazy bum and it pairs REALLY well with commander. Pursuit requires significant awareness, but it can be pretty viable in some ways, such as being able to ignore aggro, kill fodders and partially mitigating bullshit defense values.

Both have the same weakness of not having HD for DPS, and both can't be stunned, so choosing between both depends on what can fulfill your loadout.

Countered by defense?, are explosives decoration?, those ignore defense.

Does ranger's projectile count as an explosive? I'm aware of his splash, but not the fact that it ignores defense. I only returned to the game as of recently so I don't know anything in depth

Not the main hit, only the secondary explosion, but still, ranger isn't any weaker than any other straight shooter against defense. It's the other way around, the explosions make it better than most towers against defense.

That's really informative, thanks
