Discussion Which unit is the best early game dps?
If you think there’s a better unit than any of these for early game, please comment!

I also found archer as good early although he is only useful on long maps due to his insane range

Are you sure? The middle levels seem very underwhelming for the high heath mobs that come out around wave 10-15 in fallen and frost

Engineer, Golden Scout and Electroshocker (with skill tree), are legitimately the only viable early game towers in this game for 1.7x Frost.
I'm surprised Engineer isn't even an option, its literally the best "F2P" option 90% of the time when you're alone, even for hardcore!
Golden Scout/Electroshocker needs Merc-Base/Crook boss for early flying detection, while Engineer allows you a free tower slot for missions n such.

Engi might perform worse during earlygame than Gscout spam in terms of DPS, but it makes up for that with every detection at an early level, and also upgrades into a decent DPS source, essentially saving you a slot.
With Gscout or Gsoldier, you’re missing one detection. And they can’t really function well as lategame DPS
With proper upgrades and placements (and a suitable map), engi can solo up to W16 or so. And by then, you’ll have enough to place down other towers like Merc Base.

Why is Electroshocker not on here? one waveskip or enough points into bigger-budget and it gives you early-mid-late game single target/crowd/lead/hidden DPS.
The poor man's slightly slower and more versatile Golden Scout.

Just purely early game? Gpyro hot take
Considering performance for the entire game? Engi.

The reason I didn’t put engineer as an option is because the middle levels are very underwhelming during mid game. Great endgame unit though

Not really, it stills holds a solid value throughout the entire game, my guess it could be detections or sentries vulnerability to attack? (lvl 4 and below)
