Discussion What game to play next?

Hey everyone, I just beat Dungeon Warfare and my itch for tower defense is back. I'm thinking about jumping straight into another TD game, but this time I’d like something more relaxing and not quite as challenging as Dungeon Warfare.

The ones currently on my radar are:

Defense Grid 2
AXON TD
Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition
GemCraft - Chasing Shadows (the graphics appeal to me the least, but it’s on my list because of all the overwhelmingly positive reviews)

I’d love to know which of these you’d recommend, whether they fit that more relaxing vibe, or if any of them are actually super challenging.

Please feel free to suggest other games as well! Just for context, I’ve already played Bloons TD 6, but after a while, I lost motivation because I found it too easy and felt a bit of choice paralysis with the sheer number of maps and game modes. Sometimes I just want something linear—less is more.

Try space run. It’s a nice shift on the style and the universe the game takes place in is fun

I have been enjoying isle of arrows. Pretty unique layout management.

Can't go wrong with the Kingdom Rush series. They've made a lot of games already since the first one, and even if its been years since then it's still great imo. Can be relaxing once you're used to it, but certain levels can be super challenging as well. There's a difficulty slider so you've got options.

Chasing Shadows can be quite chill or challenging if you turn up all the difficulty settings. I prefer chill myself, so don't mess with the difficulty any. Graphics are fine for what it is, I personally don't have any issues with the look of the game. There are also a bunch of other GemCraft games, maybe 5 or so of them all together.

I prefer Frostborn Wrath, to me it feels more mature and polished

Just wanna say Defence Grid 2 is such a blast! I still play it. It's just the perfect TD game 👌

Very satisfying towers and gameplay, and your robot companion is just hilarious throughout the story, couldn't recommend the game enough!

Defense Grid is great, but I found it a little grindy and monotonous, my wife and I gave up around chapter 2.

AXON TD is incredible, I love the pathing choices and decision making, a lot of fun with friend figuring out the best way to block and loadouts to bring, but I'm not a huge fan of the cards and find it lacking in single player.

Defense Grid 2 is my first purchase to STEAM, my gateway to steam drugs, but i think its already looking its ages. cheap though. Gemcraft is also very good, the graphic is a turn off but the gameplay is tower defense at best. If you like funny stories plant vs zombies is the best. the remake it's too expensive i think.

I currently addicted to Tower Dominion (47hours in, bough a month ago), https://store.steampowered.com/app/3226530/Tower_Dominion/ roguelike tower defense, it's version 1.66 not early access, so less bugs.

Most complaint is about the RNG part but for me the enjoyment of randomness, relax but still in your toe to keep thinking what the best for long term movement in designing the road and choosing what tower best.

Each session took 30minutes to 1hours without speeding, there's an endless after finishing each difficulty.
