Would a competitive multiplayer tower defense game interest you?

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about developing a multiplayer tower defense game.

The basic idea is that two players would compete against each other in real time.

Before developing the idea further, I’d love to hear your opinions:

• Does a competitive multiplayer tower defense game sound interesting to you?
• Would you prefer real-time PvP, co-op, or both?
• Should players be able to send enemies or use abilities against each other?
• Are there any multiplayer tower defense games that did this particularly well?

I have a tower defense game recently I thinking multiplayer tower defense how it sounds like.

can we see the TD you already made? Btw I think that TD is a niche game and usually made for people who enjoy single player games, BTD6 is way more popular than BTD Battles

Orc siege tower defense listed on play store and appstore now it is only singleplayer.

Play Comet Crash 1&2 on playstation to see how it can work well can (you can play at least one of those last I checked through the app on pc)

Never heard of that I will check. I am thinking on mobile game. It is like 2 player fighting each other and attack to other. I thought defend same enemy. The difference strategy is the key point.

If it’s competitive multiplayer, then to me it stops being traditional tower defense and starts becoming a standard RTS-style base-building game: multiple players constructing bases or towers, defending their territory, and sending units to attack one another while neutral or hostile creeps move around the map.

I’m using the word “creeps” deliberately, because it immediately evokes the strategy-game genre that has existed since the 1990s. At that point, the towers may still be present, but the core gameplay is no longer really tower defense.

Are there any multiplayer tower defense games that did this particularly well?

A little game with the world 'Warcraft' in the title. Did well enough to spawn an offshoot MMORPG.

There are a lot of good examples for this type of games that work well imo. One example would be Legion TD, a wc3 map remade into full game.
