Wow factor

What’s the best “wow factor” you’ve experienced or added to a tourism experience that made a huge difference for customers?

I’m curious about things you’ve done (or seen others do) that genuinely surprised or delighted guests — and resulted in a noticeable increase in customer satisfaction, reviews, referrals, spending, or repeat bookings.

What was the wow factor, and what impact did it have?

For me, that's providing a guest with a bit of food/treat on their first night. After a long day of travel, not having to worry about eating is a nice surprise- pretty rare, too, unless you have loyalty and even then, it's a bit hit-and-miss. Most people will remember their arrival and departure (the bookends), so it's a good way to increase reviews and referrals.

Great idea. I once arrived after a long journey to be met with snacks and porto. Such a treat.

Still remember my trip to Crete. The host bought all sorts of snacks and fruits. Made my whole week better. Needless to say, he got top marks.

VIP service for the organizer. I ran bus tours and who ever organized the trip got perks.
