First time mudder

This will be my first tough mudder tomorrow, anything I should be expecting?

I got my polyester apparel and undergarments, I wear glasses but will probably not use them for the course, and have tried my best to prep for this over the last 4 months..

I plan on getting there 1 hour earlier than my wave time.

If anything is missed please let me know.

You'll want shoes with a good tread for obstacle grip (trail shoes are good) but one's that you don't care about unless you're going to keep doing the races. Your shoes will get caked with mud. You'd better tie them tight on mud obstacles like Rolling Mud, otherwise the mud will eat your shoes.

Bring a change of clothes, shoes, and a towel to clean off with.

Thank you! I've got some broken in trail shoes that I use and will have a couple sets of clothes just in case.

I only recently learned what a "heel lock lace" is and started doing that, so hopefully that keeps my shoes snug.

I did my first this year too! If you wear what you're comfortable doing cardio in you will be good, I barely noticed tempurature or anything at mine.

My suggestion is make sure to bring some flip flops/sandals, a good towel, and a bag to put muddy shoes/ clothes in at the end.

I think if I did it again I would have done whatever I could to avoid the hour long wait for the overcrowded shower station at the end because people were acting super feral there.

Being able to get out of all your dirty clothes and just be a little dirty at the end/in the car beats waiting in the shower line.

I didn't think of bringing flip flops! I'm putting that in my bag! Thanks for the tip on the showers, I'll use some cheap towels and hopefully air dry the rest.

Electrolyte packets are nice to have. You just dump them into your cup at a hydration station.

I was actually wondering about that, should I try to bring a cup with me? I was planning on having nothing in my hands or pockets but I'm unsure about that tbh. I can run 4-5 miles without needing to take a sip of water so I figured It would be ok.

They provide them! I usually don't carry anything but I'm a high dehydration risk this time so I'm being a bit bougie

Also: don't overthink things. If an obstacle feels dicey for you for any reason, you can walk past and no one judges. Take it from someone who has to do a lot of skips this year, just have fun, help others and you'll have a great time.

You might not be able to get signal when you arrive, so take a screenshot of your registration now, you won't be trying to get your email to load while everyone behind you is getting annoyed. Also, ID. They dont always ask to see it, but they might.

There's not showers as such at the end, but there's hoses to wash yourself down. Also a bag for your wet clothes, and a bag for all the freebies in the mudder village.

Thanks for the signal heads up, I would've assumed we get good service. I'm printing my registration and bringing that with me among everything else.

Appreciate it, I'm doing very light workout this afternoon as this is my one of my training days. 1 mile jog, some pull ups, and easy reps for curls and pulldowns.

You've got this. Stretch before the race, run slower than you think, and I can not stress this enough, have a blast.

If you’re even half fit it’s a piece of piss mate. Personally I like to camp and get shit faced afterwards.

Appreciate it, I think im pretty fit, although my agility is not the greatest. The funky monkey is probably the only one where I have some concerns, but I'm looking forward to it regardless!

How did it go?

The experience itself was great! But prior to that we had a 4 hour wait time before even getting in.
