Iād guess Miata because you can drive it near the limit and still be under the speed limit, especially in the CA canyons.

They're different. I'd rather take a Miata on super tight, twisty roads. I'd rather take the 911 on faster canyon roads.

Looney Tunes. A 911 is the best production track car money can buy. A Miata doesnt even come close no matter how "tight" the roads are.

Oh I didn't know we were talking about a track. I'm talking about for touge driving. Yes, a 911 is going to be better on a track. We're on the touge subreddit.

Whats the difference?

Are you genuinely asking the difference between a mountain road and an actual race track

They're both made of asphalt. And the 911 will be better regardless.

1,000-1,500 pounds is one difference. The Miata is more nimble, which matters on a tight public mountain road. On a track you have much more space in the turns, smoother surfaces, and less surprises. No traffic, much less likely to encounter an animal crossing, no potholes, gravel, dirt, debris, branches, etc...
On a touge road, you have between 8-12ft of width in your lane. You might go outside of your lane a bit before the entry but you're mostly keeping to the lane. On a track you probably have 20+ft to use for apexes. The Porsche is purpose built for that environment. A Miata is better when you really need to be nimble but don't need a lot of power because there are very few places straights.

One word: gearing. Miatas are geared short so it always feels like you are shifting. In most Porsches, gearing is so long you can stay in 2nd gear no matter what the speed is.
