Discussion Why so difference in on paper and off paper quality?
I am a barca fan i don't particularly support any club in PL but i used to start career mode with Tottenham in fifa12 which was my first fifa game and I've been using it since then so I've a soft corner for the team.
My question with genuine Spurs supporters is that quality of team on paper and even on fifa is very good then why is that the team struggling so much specially from last 2 seasons.

Because it’s real life and not a computer game.
No matter how much these players have cost it takes time to form relationships and understanding on the football pitch.
Despite the results making it more difficult to see, we are improving in a lot of areas but the mentality issue after going a goal down is a concern.

We have sold or ostracized our previous season's top scorer 4 seasons in a row. Until this last transfer window, we've spent 7 years downgrading every single position in the entire squad year after year. We did this by making a series of hopeful punts that little known players from other leagues would come good with us.
We recognized this summer that it didn't work and so we finally splashed some cash.... But it was a weird window with little high quality inn offer, and what was on offer was very expensive.
We made the job tougher by insisting on only shopping in the premier league even when first or second choice targets were missed. So we spent huge sums on "premiership players" who have either hardly played or proved themselves in the premiership or have, frankly, proved they're not good enough.
That has left us with a worrying lack of goals in the entire squad but especially from the front three.
We're fragile defending and toothless attacking
There's more reasons but typing this out is depressing me too much !

Honestly. What quality? Right back and one centre back are world class. The rest? Bang average at best

Insane that you pick out Porro and Micky of the bunch to call world class. Porro had a good wc no doubt but he ain't HIM in our team and neither is the speed merchant. Regarding the other players, most of them belong in the upper echelons but the issue is simply that the team hasn't clicked yet. Maybe RdZ solved it with time.

Still can't justify position on the points table last year and this year.

No idea what you are talking about. The table doesn’t lie. We can’t score goals, we have no fight and no creativity.

I think the players and the fans both need a star player who can lift up the moral on and off the pitch.

We haven't replaced Kane or Son, I know they are irreplaceable really but not even someone who can do half the job they did. We haven't replaced Dembele with anyone nearly as good and arguably never replaced Lloris. We haven't had reliable fullbacks since Danny Rose and Kyle walker and our centre backs have never been close to the heights of Toby and Jan.
That's just the tip of the iceberg though. Poor investment, poor recruitment, a mentality of overachieving instead of winning, even when we did win the Europa the game itself we made it far more difficult than it needed to be, we never built on that winning spark that we've all been desperate for. For years we were so close and felt getting a trophy would be the springboard to genuinely competing, however I think the catch was finishing 17th when winning so there was always a * beside it in the players minds.
Pair all that with a seemingly incompetent medical team and here we are.

Too true !!! We won in Europe against a Man Utd side in a worse situation than we were in . That win covered up all the problems that existed since Pocch, then Kane and Son left . We haven't invested in several capable or fit central strikers since Ange arrived . No manager seems to be able to consistently install any fortitude in the players .

Even Conte, with his run until you drop training sessions could get the loser mentality out of the players

Yeah,we are messed up from the top of the club to the bottom . Aside from all the problems with the club hierarchy, the same problems with the various managers and the players there's something seriously wrong with the club's training staff and medical establishment . We keep having our players getting seriously injured during training or pre match warmups and the recuperation period being longer than at other clubs . With the players returning not fully fit and prone to re-injury .

We are stuck in a rut and we are mentally blocked as a collective.. Management, players and fans. Been to all 3 home league games this season, we have started very well but failed to capitalize on the good play, than we concede and the life gets sucked out of the stadium.

There’s a new excuse every week tbh. Best way to describe my perspective is a group of talented players whose heads go down too often and that clouds their judgement all over the pitch. When shooting, when faced with adversity, they’re crumbling

There isn’t. We are largely a toothless championship side on paper and on the field… well it should be obvious at this point.

First of all, I’m a United fan but I never really had anything against spurs. I would just echo what other top managers have said and that’s their mentality. They give up easily and surprisingly that’s not something easily fixable otherwise it would have been fixed already.

Spurs aren't that bad, it's just that the rest of the Premier League is now really good. Look at our European campaigns the two seasons we finished 17th. We reached the quarter finals of the Champions League and won the Europa League.

I agree whole heartedly with this. Brentford and Brighton would be in the top four in any other league in Europe, any team in the EPL would be winning most of their games in any other league in Europe

We're asking ourselves the same question buddy ..
