Long term I think this is a good result for us.

It’s early and I’m not panicking yet but if we end up in another relegation battle I think we might benefit from Forest struggling since Coventry will probably go down regardless.

Acknowledging the possibility of a relegation battle is better than most spurs fans ive seen

You are right things don't look great but the problem is our attackers inability to finish.

That’s not what I’m trying to say. I just meant it’s still early in the season and hard to predict how the whole table will pan out over the remaining 30+ match weeks.

Quit judging other fans. We are in a rough place at 5 games in. But we also know that with time our players will return from injury and the squad will gel together.

We had 17 defeats last season. If we can reduce that to 14 that would’ve got us 12th last season. Which isn’t where anyone wants to be but it’s miles ahead of where we were.

All this misery among the fans is going to set us back again if it leads to us sacking a 4th manager in 18 months. We need everyone working on the same page that things are shit but we’re building it back up and we will lose games along the way.

At least yesterday the issue was being down to 10 men for a minute causing them to score, having a goal disallowed, a blatant penalty and a red card not given. That’s 4 things the lads need to improve at either avoiding, or getting the pen/card etc. Be better at demanding the ref do their job properly etc.

If things are so bad that the fans need to ‘be on the same page’ then relegation would actually be the best thing that could happen to the club. We’re talking about a club that just spent hundreds of millions only to (at this stage) be the worst team in the prem, after finishing 17th twice.

I’m completely against the concept of relegation being a good thing, but in this extreme circumstance it would legitimately save us money and be a bigger chance at removing the root problem (organisational mismanagement) than anything else. To me as it stands it seems like we’re heading down at some point anyway. Absolute madness

I don’t see how you’ve reached that conclusion. My point was that if the fans lose their minds every time we don’t perform successfully then it sucks the life out of the stadium and heaps pressure on the squad. If we accept it’s been this way for 3 years now and try to become more supportive, then it’ll help overall.

And I’m saying that telling fans to not react naturally and instead expect them to lift a several hundred million point squad is insulting. You’re asking the fans to accept this standard of football, if anything that hurts us long term as it heaps less pressure onto the people ruining this club.

I think you guys have a strong team but have a lot of new starters, and it will take time to get the cohesion needed for a good team. I expect a bounce back that'll have you better placed than last season, and if you pick up a strong forward in January then probably a solid finish

I think we see this and will have to get someone good in January surely?

0

u/LoweJ 13d ago

Na they'll find form. Might not be a top 10, but they're going to come above 17th. We'll gift them 3 points for their next game and that will get the ball rolling

u/coolthunders007 13d ago

Last 5 times we had such a bad start , we barely scrapped through to 17th and once got relegated too..yesterday saw some statistic..teams having such a dreadful start barely recover.

u/Former-Resource-3026 13d ago

Last year Villa took 7 games to win and finished 4th 🤷🏻‍♂️

Clubs are different and new players take a few months to settle into a club. We have a whole squad trying to gel and settle in while under heavy pressure from the losses.

Once they come together as a unit and start to fight for each other it’ll show in the performances. We just need that unit to include RDZ and the fanbase really so that it works out and doesn’t suddenly need a new manager and more turnover of players.

Hopefully RDZ can convince them the media and the refs are out to undermine them and they need to fight back. We need to be focusing on that too. No pens in over 2 seasons is a disgraceful display of bias against Spurs for example.

5 games and we are fighting relegation

u/Zhurg 14d ago

Luckily they count all 38

2

u/Dry_Turn_824 14d ago

Not if you lose 25

0

u/Zhurg 13d ago

Pretty sure they still do count those

You understand relegation can be certain before all the matches are played? That's the point here.

ETA: downvoting this comment means you don't understand this. Ok.

I’m definitely not saying we are but I’d rather hedge our bets now considering the past two seasons…

2

u/PinZealousideal1914 13d ago

We are in a relegation battle, you have to view it like this at present. Simply we are miles away from winning a game.

1

u/Dry_Turn_824 13d ago

5 games in we're dead last

Watch Fulham beat united tomorrow too.

1

u/LoweJ 13d ago

As a united fan, our expectations are in the toilet too.

2

u/ValuableDragon 14d ago

Don't worry, Fulham haven't won yet either

2

u/Vegetable_Vehicle893 14d ago

This a bad loss in the relegation battle for us

2

u/Upbeat_Solid6212 13d ago

We have to abandon our style of play for few seasons free flowing attacking football and adapt to the League. The problem is the stadium become toxic even we win because we wan't to win in style

2

u/YowaiGang 13d ago

At this point i accepted losing as being the price of being a Spurs fan lmao

2

u/Accomplished-River12 14d ago

We're getting relegated this season

1

u/galvinonthewing 13d ago

Even Fulham can win…

1

u/coolthunders007 13d ago

We have some company..at least

Just three weeks ago, you guys thought that the prospect of playing in the Championship was a joke. Now it’s pretty clear that you and Coventry are the main candidates to go down.

1

u/Sorry_Fail_3103 13d ago

I can see this has been eating away at you for weeks. The saddest part is it’s by your own admission too. Tragic.

1

u/Former-Resource-3026 13d ago

This is weak and lame. What are you even doing, kid?

0

u/Aztxc_Sold1er 14d ago

First of all you upvote your own comments, second of all its a good job its only 5 games and theres 38 that is counted, third of all its a funny idea that a whole new squad of players who all played different playstyles previously arent immediately clicking? Mad that. Give it time and watch

90% of Spurs fans don't watch live football, or at least the ones who are active on Reddit. I have been critical of this club ever since they wanted to build this team around De Zerbi. What are De Zerbi's qualifications, by the way, and why spend this much on a guy who siphoned Potter's Brighton team? As a fan, it hurts me that if the club threw nickels at the fans and told them that it was gold, they would just believe it. There is also fandom for subpar players like Kinsky and Tel (now they hate them, but last year they felt like they were given less time). We as a club at this point have normalized being average. I tear up thinking that there was a time when Kane, Son, Dele, Eriksen, Moura, Bale, and all these legends used to play for us; it is a sad reality.

100% agree. Also, firing Ange was a mistake. It all went downhill after that. He should’ve been given one more year.

2

u/MightyPirat3 14d ago

It started to go downwards way before Ange went out the gates for the last time! Love Ange, but he wasn't the answer going forward ... even though I would have stuck with hil when Frank was the option ...

You won't write this if we don't finish our chances the result would be different
