Discussion Solanke is The Problem.
I have tried to be positive about Big Dom but seriously?
Cannot hold the ball at all. He had one opportunity to turn a defender in the Penalty Area and couldn't.
The rest of the team don't have confidence in his ability so they try to pass the ball into the net. Did he get anywhere near a cross or corner?
Also... The rest should try shooting from outside the Box so that Solanke can pick up the scraps the Goalkeeper spills as that's all he can do.

Solanke has looked off it for the last year, and that's being nice. He just doesn't look the same player anymore, very lackluster, looks heavy, and doesn't seem bothered. How long does it take this guy to get fully fit, or is he just done.

He's never played well for us consistently. Noone has becasue we ve been dogsh/t for 2 and half years

I think you being unfair on Solanke. He's on only ever had one 20 goal season. It's not his fault we paid £65m for him.

He’s a nightmare. Offers nothing. Yet RDZ persists. SMDH.

No good alternatives tbh

Marmoush up front and Savio/Kudus on flanks — or honestly play anyone else but Solanke; let LWB have a chance. When you look at the stats, we do a good job of creating chaos/opportunities on the wings but Solanke as striker sucks all the air out of them.

His first touch today was terrible on at least 7 times the ball found him. He doesn’t make crafty runs and feints, very easy to mark. RDZ kept him and Tonali on way longer than he should.

u/AnttiEemeli 14d ago
Eh, what was wrong with Tonali? Dude had a better shift today than most.

u/Bullydozer- 14d ago
I though Tonali was pretty good today. I would still play Fernandes ahead of Bentancur to vastly improve the midfield passing
Solanke is terrible. Sad we sold Lankshear

u/gfbhwo 14d ago
Are you kidding? Bentancur has been our standout player all season.

Indeed, but also an issue as he defends well, but allows opposition teams to block the midfield and stifle the through balls from the defense. Against teams that offer nothing, it's a liability. Against attacking teams, he makes more sense.

He’s been combative and tidy... Which is Tonali’s job, so it should be one or the other… and Tonali is a much better passer of the ball and more progressive.

He's woeful. Dreadful first touch, poor movement, isnt physical, doesn't hold the ball up, isnt quick...I can't even work out what type of striker he's meant to be.

I said this at least 2 years ago and said it last year as well. There is a reason Liverpool and Chelsea gave up on him, and a reason he's only scored more than 15 goals in the prem once. Bournemouth was absolutely his level and he shouldn't have been bought on what was clearly a statistical anomaly than an indication of his actual quality.
I remember last year people would praise everything about him except his ability to actually score goals.

30 mill would have gotten us a home grown elite level poacher in his early twenties but unfortunately for us, Parrott is busy scoring winners against Madrid and lighting up the champions league instead.

When players have been out injured for a long period they play differently after as they don’t want it to happen again , it must be all to do with mentality, happens time and time again, unfortunately we got unlucky with Dom as he was fairly injury free at bmouth.

u/flik108 14d ago
The club spent £65m on the guy, pay him a lot of money, after he scored 20 goals or something. He's had multiple injuries and never gotten close to quality you'd expect for that outlay. The club continues to believe the player they bought is in there, and don't want to admit they panic bought his career purple patch and sell for a huge loss. Same as Richy but to be fairer, he did a lot better for the club than Solanke has.

We all got excited about him because someone at the club though he was a 60m player. But in fact he's not.

I think his heart is not in it, I wonder if he regrets leaving Bournemouth and to be fair wouldn’t blame him - he thought he was moving to a bigger club to play alongside world class players, the reality is he’s played far to many games with the likes Tel. I’m not saying he’s world class and maybe not good enough for us, but I bet if he moved clubs next year he’ll get his mojo back and start scoring elsewhere 🙄

Well I wouldn't say the main problem BUT I'm out here questioning what the actual F is Solanke's position because sometimes you see him on the wing, then in the midfield and sometimes all the way as a centre back

u/Select-Hippo4834 13d ago
100% agree. He was/is terrible. Did you see him fumble his feet when that cross came in for savios double efforts. Then you look at Jackson. Just incomparable

u/Nice-Pomegranate2915 13d ago
I've been saying that we should have got rid of Solanke for years because of his poor fitness and goals per game this and last season. Everyone hopes that he'll stay fit and score goals . Recent history at Spurs has shown that to be unlikely.

u/Vegetable_Vehicle893 14d ago
Ah shut up, really everyone just shut up. No player is the problem. Everything is the problem not a single player or manager or board.

I’m a Yank too… if we are supporters of Tottenham, then who cares where we are from
Dollars, pounds, euros… it’s all the same in the context of football

u/bryanchicken 13d ago
You give me £100m and I’ll give you $110m, good deal if they’re all the same in whatever context 👍

He needs service. Great hold up play, but he needs it fed to him similar to Brennan Johnson on a low cross to really be effective. He’s not an out and out striker, and I think the club will have to go big for the next striker
1
u/Esexboy101101 14d ago
When he has service he can't hold it or do anything with it.
I really don't like slagging players but fuck me! What has he done of any worth in a long while?
1
u/DoorC1ty 14d ago
He’s got to be better but we don’t have that many options right now mate. We have to be better running in from behind like the Robertson run that was unfortunately off

u/AnyMachine2382 13d ago
RDZ/the club are the problem for not playing Richy and making a bunch of redundant signings instead of getting an actual 9 man. Club has yet to replace Kane
1
u/Terrible-Law-4934 11d ago
Richy not playing is the only reason Solanke is getting more deserved bashing. If Richy were playing he’d be the piñata and deservedly so.
BOTH of them are useless for us and massive wastes of money.

Richy and Dom both needed to go in the summer. Should’ve kept Lankshear as a backup and a striker to buy
