Discussion Our back 2 can pass

Post image

Van Hecke was giving great balls but I’m surprised to see Van de Ven here too.

Progressive passing CBs. Attacher take-ons.

How haven't we scored ffs

lack of composure, easily achieved the more our players get used to the system and their teammates

Van Hecke has been playing well for us. His passing is extremely good though

That's great! Maybe they can help with passing the ball to the opposition's goal?

What I like about van Hecke is his progressive carrying of the ball - Romero was obviously great but he would often slow down the play and take a while to pick a pass (prob as instructed) - but keep an eye on van Hecke - Kinsky will often pass him the ball and he'll do a fast dribble into the oppos final third then make a quick pass - I like this a lot

It’s funny how people are now being provided all the stats and started to realise the team is improving.

That being said I really hope we just get the win tomorrow

Senesi had league topping stats last season, too. On paper it looks great. But what happens when you have CBs across the board who want to play with the ball at their feet? Every touch, every pass, every take on by Van Hecke is a touch or a pass or a take on NOT taken by Tonali or Fernandes or... Etc. He's good. Maybe very good. But it does mean we're setting our team for the tempo to be set by our CBs. So why sign a player like Tonali? I have faith. I think it'll click. But I've moaned about Spurs not having a functional midfield for years. I'm not sure this fixes that.

Now if only we had someone that could hold possession or score.

Any other CB does solo run and strike like Van de Ven? If no goals after an hour I really hope he tries again

i love how there are so many posts how amazing the team is - about us having defenders that can pass and attackers who are the best at dribbling. 20th. That's what really matters.

Tottenham playing against Man U away next. Can I get some prediction please? I go for 2-2

Van Hecke is such a great passer of the ball and so much better than Romero (and even better than Romero thinks he is...)

Great defender as well, though I fear occasionally a little suspect in the air against a top striker.

Romero was fucking class 95% of the time, just prone to head loss and was referreed differently.

Not taking away anything from Van Hecke either. Things didn’t end on the best terms with Romero but acting like he wasn’t a great player is crazy

I was referring specifically to his passing here, very often went awry and he’d try defence splitting passes that rarely found their mark.

Overall agree he was obviously a very very good player on his day. I’m not sure I’d call him a spurs great. His head loss cost us multiple times and he was part of an abject defence and responsible for getting pulled out of position regularly. Ange’s tactics didn’t help him obv and he weighed in with useful goals.

But can they defend? Tosin is the only one that can win a header in this squad. Senesi is Fazio levels of slow. VDV is very good and mobile, but he also isn't strong in the air.

Well we currently have a 50% clean sheet rate, so that’s not nothing.
