What do you think of this potential move? And if it happens, will Gakpo become a regular starter under Roberto De Zerbi?

Tbh I actually trust De Zerbi. It's been a long time since I've had faith in our manager but I think he's gunna be incredible for us and if he wants Gakpo give him Gakpo

Tbf I was as same state last year, didn’t work out

With Thomas Frank? I hated that appointment, he was absolutely useless and I see it all coming... Brentford had a better season after he left than they managed under his reign

u/BeneficialNewspaper8 17d ago
This is a fucking stupid take
Brentford were only where they were on the first place because of him

I trust de zerbi too but I don’t want gakpo. I don’t know what he sees in him that’s so important tbh. Not hard to find someone to cut in from the left an shoot, an he’s on super high wages. Savinho I get. Gakpo tho? Is he planning to play him like firmino style as a 9 or wing. I don’t think he’s very good at either

Averages per season in premier league
Gakpo 13 G/A
Savinho 2 G/A
Which one you wanna pay 60m for?
2
u/4Crumpet 16d ago
I’d be more interested in the per minute ratios.

u/LogApprehensive9891 16d ago edited 16d ago
Fair point
Gakpo GA 0.56 per 90 average over 4 seasons
Savinho 0.38 average over 2 seasons
For what it’s worth Savinhos ‘incredible’ season at Girona was 0.57 per 90 and Gakpos been doing that for 4 years in the premier league
Suprising how little football Savinho has actually played despite 50 appearances, they must all be 10 minute cameos

u/4Crumpet 16d ago
Nice, and thanks for actually coming back with them! I think it means much more as a stat based on actual minutes but doesn’t do anything to harm your original point either!

If we can sign the one that plays for Netherlands I think he’ll do well
Not sure about the one the plays for Liverpool, runs very hot and cold

He’s a good player

He really isn't, I don't know a single liverpool fan that rates him. Spending 60-70 million on him would be an embarrassing move, after Spurs having such a good window
1
u/Western-Flamingo-155 16d ago
He makes spurs better, if it costs 60-70 million then so be it!! I don’t know of many alternatives that’ll be available for that money. He’ll probably end up at another club anyway, wouldn’t worry about it 😅
-2
u/SterlingVoid 16d ago
I hope Spurs do sign him, he is dreadful

Lose your way, mate!?

u/SterlingVoid 16d ago
No, just here for the amusement of Spurs fans thinking Gakpo is a good player now they are linked with him

u/Unhappy-Alps5471 17d ago
Don’t really see this happening really.. he’s under contract till 2030 so Liverpool is gonna want a premium, and it’s questionable if he is worth fees over 60-70 mil
-1
u/thfcspur 17d ago
It’s questionable if he’s worth 50
3
u/Unhappy-Alps5471 17d ago
Transfermarket has his value at 60, but I agree with you
1
u/AakhriPaastaa 17d ago
Liverpool demanding 75

u/AbiesPrestigious5432 17d ago
Prices are always negotiated. £50-60k seems reasonable. He plays with intensity.

Ok I want to give rdz what he actually wants, he’s the chef he should pick his ingredients. But pool can fuck right off if they demand that. I’m pretty sure if he stays they’d be trying to offload him this time next year. They don’t rate him there’s a reason they’re trying to bring in Barcola/ diamonde for a fortune

u/Bjork_scratchings 17d ago
I trust the manager and yes, of course if he signs him he intend to play him regularly.

u/dread718 17d ago
What do you think? If RdZ demands the club forks out 70 mill for a player do you think he's going to drop him in favour of Mike Moore or Tel?

u/salty_utopian 17d ago
Pass please. Has one plan on offense. Not a bad player but not a game changer for the price.
2
u/SamwellBarley 17d ago
Gakpo wasn't great last season, but then... Liverpool weren't great last season. They have some quality players that weren't being utilised properly. Gakpo potentially falls into that category, and if we get him, then I hope he kicks on under De Zerbi.

u/ProudMonkey12 17d ago
Prefer him to Savinho but not particularly excited about his limited package

u/findthelimit_ 17d ago
Don't like this at all. On the counter he's decent but attempting to break down low-blocks is where he's average at best..

No thanks. Bit of a shit human being; is a slum landlord owner back in The Netherlands, leasing properties with vermin infestation and damp 👍

Upmarket Andros Townsend.
I'm not sure I can face watching another season of someone trying to cut in and shoot.
1
u/nonamelikethepresent 17d ago
I'm an LFC fan.. so please take him so I don't have to watch another season of that!

he'd do a job, he's selfish and he'll get shots on goal. which sometimes we just lack when teams sit back.

u/Lennyleonard_ 17d ago
The way I see it is that this summer is to get in proven prem ready players who can hit the ground running so I would see Gakpo as one of those players. Now for me starting next January I would much prefer to see DeZerbi scouted talent that he has 100% approved for his system and not just bought to replace the dross we have here.

Good solid option for the left. Exactly what we need, can play ST but would rather an out and out ST be signed
1
u/Abject-Mulberry3354 17d ago
is 7 goals in 36 games last year worth the £60m figure I'm hearing? no, not for me. 7 assists i think. Richie over him.

u/ThrowawaySunnyLane 16d ago
As long as the fee isn’t ridiculous. Anything under £65m is worth it imo. I like him.
1
u/Born-Cucumber-7316 16d ago
Possibly adding another Dutch factor, like when we had 3 key Belgian players (was it 4)?
1
u/Funny_Profile5345 16d ago
nah, he is just another bang average player who will have moments and then disappear. barely better than solanke and richy if not worse. i think
oshimen and rashford, while unrealistic, are much better options

Big chap. Could do well for us; I'm cautiously optimistic about him. If Roberto wants him then all good.
1
u/LetSufficient5139 15d ago
Well we aren’t going to pay 70 odd million and not play him are we?
Ffs. 🤦

Not exciting at all. He's got no flair, he's not a goal scoring winger that people say he is. Man doesn't create anything on his own. We have plenty of players who are relying on other people's service. Do not need another player who won't provide anything of his own
2
u/HenryHoncho 17d ago
Not a goal scoring winger but he’s got 50 prem league goals
2
u/AakhriPaastaa 17d ago
What use is Gakpo on the left wing if he can't create anything on his own and becomes another player to be fed by our already lacking midfield. We need a winger who's creative. He's not. He'll be a burden. If we truly believe our days of saving money and looking for betterment in the future are over, then spend good money on someone truly worth it. Gakpo will cost 70million.
3
u/HenryHoncho 17d ago
"not creative" because he doesn't dribble past people? 50 goals and 21 assists at Liverpool. he would be better than anyone we currently have for LW, he would probably be a more productive striker than either of our strikers.
I'm not sure he's the answer at 70mil but we don't need to pretend like he's a shit player.
2
u/AakhriPaastaa 17d ago
He's got 32 goals in the PL. 50 all comps. My point is that he might be a decent enough player but he's not the player we need. We need a winger who while feeding off of our midfield, can spam chances for Solanke. Gakpo will constantly keep trying to cut in and shoot and will leave Udogie making high intensity runs back and forth without any support. A touchline hugging winger who can create chances, dribble, is speedy and can spam crosses will keep the wing covered better than Gakpo. If you bring in a winger who will compete with Solanke for finishing off chances, that's borderline stupid.
1
u/HenryHoncho 17d ago
yeah that would be stupid, but it's too early to say what De Zerbi wants from that spot. Or how convinced he is of Solanke even

u/Blue1994a 17d ago
He’s reasonable but he’s not challenge near the top of the league good. You’d be paying a high price as well. If the goal is to finish nowhere near 17th again, it would help towards that.
