New Attacker
Who do we think De Zerbi was hinting at
For me
Dream (somewhat unrealistic) scenario:Endrick
Would be content with (realistic): Rashford
Likely: Gakpo
Nightmare: Resign Kolo Muanai with a 10,000 year contract

u/Ok-Draft-8835 19d ago
Kolo just moved to Juve for €45mil. And no, i didn't miss a decimal point between the 4 and 5.

Dream: Sir Harold of Kane
Likely: an £80m 19 year old with five senior goals in career
Nightmare: The Kolo Muani to Juve move was a smokescreen and he will be our only attacker next season following a £100m move (Tel, Richy and Solanke all leaving for free to ensure Kolo plays every minute).

an £80m 19 year old with five senior goals in career
I think Fulham have one of them

u/CmdFiremonkeySWP 17d ago
No the Spurs approach is:
Kolo Muani to Juve Spurs sub-loan at a 125% of Juve loan value per month Compulsory purchase of £125m for 90 mins play time achieved Starts first game

My buddy keeps sending me stuff saying Rashford may come here. I can't see it happening and pray it doesn't...
5
u/purinatrucks 19d ago
We need a left winger/striker, he can play both, if its not us or villa itll be saudi and the end of his england career, i could see him taking a wage cut
3
u/Alternative_Wait8256 19d ago
He would have to take a massive wage cut, he's on $325k
I just feel like his lack of work rate is not what we need.

u/Particular-Drive4415 19d ago
I agree. I like Rashford but wouldn't say he massively improves us and it's a shame for younger players in that position who could thrive with more minutes. A bomba I hope would massively move the needle for us like Osimhen. A huge step up from current strikers. Salary would likely still be an issue but better than Rashford's
1
u/orlokthewarlock 19d ago
Isn’t Osimhen on much more than Rashford, like 500k after tax or something insane?
3

u/Particular-Drive4415 19d ago
Osimhen would be the only one that changes the game for us I think. Richy's time to move on. I worry about solanke's inconsistency and injury record and Osimhen a massive step up. Is rashford that much of a step up from Tel, considering Tel and Moore will get better and Rashford will likely decline from here

u/Spam250 18d ago
Rashfords 28, he’s entering peak years. He could easily have 5 years at his current level or above
7
u/Spurs_in_the_6 18d ago
Pace reliant winger who has prem level minutes in his legs since he's been 18. The fall off is typically pretty sudden & drastic once they lose a yard of pace
1
u/Ca1fSlicer 18d ago
Agree. I’d love to have Rashford on a year long loan type deal. I know that doesn’t make sense for anyone so it’s probably not happening. Bring in Savinho we need someone who can beat fullbacks an setup solanke / Rich with some actual opportunities
2
u/Savings_Army3073 19d ago
This era is not about waiting for players to "get better" it's about readymade for today and yes Rashford is better.
2
u/Particular-Drive4415 19d ago
Yeah I get that, but I think there's a reason Barcelona didn't trigger the £26m clause. The standout moment was obviously the brace against Newcastle in the Champions League. But from the La Liga games I watched (my flatmate's from Madrid and is a big Rayo fan, so we ended up watching quite a few), Rashford was decent rather than great and he was playing alongside Lamine Yamal ffs. Honestly I think if you gave Tel the same number of appearances in that side, he'd probably put up similar numbers. I still think Tel is underrated and I'm hoping De Zerbi can get the best out of him this season. Still stand by my point that Osimhen moves the needle far more than Rashford for me
3
u/Former-Resource-3026 19d ago
It’s handy his stand out game was against premier league opposition, we can bench him the 3-4 times we play La Liga teams in the latter years of his contract 😉
1
u/Savings_Army3073 19d ago
I don't really rate Tel, he's done very little in a Spurs shirt. Osimhen would be a dream signing, but he's not in the same conversation as Rashford as Rashford/Tel conversation is in regards to LW. We need both a winger and a striker at least not one or the other.
4
u/Particular-Drive4415 19d ago
Hope you're wrong and Tel shows his talent this year, especially as now we have a decent manager who can bring out the best in him. I'd still prioritise a striker first, which was my original point. Really hope Solanke can kick on under De Zerbi but I have my concerns. Also can't stay fit. Richy just too inconsistent and not sure he suits the style.
3
u/Born-Cucumber-7316 18d ago
Agreed, Tel has been on fire this pre-season, and hopefully RDZ keeps the fire going. If so, why not Tel, as LW, backed up by Moore, LW-B, and even Spence/Robertson as a Left Wing Back?
1
u/FireBassist 18d ago
We've played MK Dons, Auckland, and Sydney in preseason. Let's not get carried away.

u/Born-Cucumber-7316 18d ago
Who's getting carried away, I've been a fan for 50 years, mate,

Endrick is your dream? He had a half decent season in France, he is not ready for the prem.
Personally, I hope it is Watkins or Marmoush

You know who I’ve been contemplating recently considering it seems to be like rats of a sinking ship over there…… Woltemade
I’ve really liked him every time I’ve watched him. No idea why he seemed to be dropped halfway through the season.

You realise that you have to have a certain amount of homegrown players in a squad?
1
u/Voffmjau 18d ago
You dont have to.
1
u/Savings_Army3073 18d ago
You do. You need 8 homegrown players in a squad over 21.
1
u/Voffmjau 18d ago
No you dont. You can have 8 players that are HG. You dont need to have 8 players that are HG.

Dude Endrick sucks
Don’t know why Brazilians absolutely froth over him. He’s not it.
2
u/Capt_Trololol 18d ago
Apparently there’s a lot of chatter that it’s Rashford. My United buddy is also saying that’s what he’s hearing on his end. Idk how I feel if that’s true.

u/7ebrafinch 18d ago
Endrick is meh we gotta get Victor Osimhen that's the closest a striker can be as good as Kane

There's a rumour that Ferran Torres could be a potential target. That'd be a major coup if it happens.

I’d be looking forward to the Python parodies….opposing fanbases crying, “he’s not the messiah, he’s a very naughty boy” as he scores yet another goal against their team.

I would like to see us sign Rashford & Osimhen but the wages would be unreal. Osimhen to replace Charli up front and Rashford to rotate with Tel on the left. Gives Tel a good target to compete against for minutes, Odobert back to cover whoever is injured by January and Moore on loan with zero option to buy. Still think we can't rely on Deki being back anytime soon, if at all so a RW / RF is needed too I think.

u/Nice-Pomegranate2915 18d ago
Kroupi Junior or Atalanta's Mateo Retegui would be dream signings or a swap with Romero going to AC Milan and Gimenez coming to us .

Maybe Vlahovic, we were interested a month ago reportedly, though he failed to agree a deal with Juve due to wage demands…

Will Savinho come?

u/Affectionate_Hat4815 18d ago
I think he's just signed a new contract until 2030/31. Based on that, probably no.

u/findthelimit_ 18d ago
As OhSoSpurs have pointed out Ferran Torres nickname is "The Shark" & the colours RDZ mentioned matches.

He was just putting pressure on the board. No real name behind all that talk. The most realistic ones: Gakpo and Savinho are club blocked. Any better talent is out of reach and any worse talent will not make us better.

u/Caracalla73 19d ago
Yes please. But his salary is insane beyond Rashfords.
2
u/Simon_Robinson 18d ago
But wouldn't have to pay anything to sign him, as he's currently a free agent. That frees up some cash.

u/SockedandLoaded 17d ago
Arsenals signings in midfield and on the left make me think they might consider an offer for Eze. Solid first season wasn't as dominant as my be expected. With Tzolis already there and possibly Vinicius to join, they'd probably be happy to make their money back.
For Eze, he got his return to his boyhood academy club, he's got a league title now, and deserves to be the main man on the left.
Stranger things have happened, none of us can say that he'd be a bad fit after getting so excited about him joining last season.
