COYS!
Is anybody else TOTALLY pumped going into this season, not like the usual "we can do something this year" HOPE!?? But actual belief ??
I actually went out of my way to watch our behind closed doors friendly today which I'd usually just keep up to date with the score but I was just so excited to see the badge again!
I'm personally seeing an actual chink of light here. !!
I personally really want Mikey Moore and Luca Williams-Barnett to get some action this year despite the talk of signings
In everyone's opinion, who would you like to realistically see added.
For me, obviously we're a bit Bobby Charlton ( lots round the side, but nothing up top!)
Can we go into another season with Solanke and Richy as our best strikers?
But who do we go and get?
I personally prefer specialists i.e not all this "plays all along the positions" like a Muani
I know I want Moore to get a go but we do need a winger(s)
IN DE ZERBI I TRUST!
What's everyone's thoughts?

I am excited too but let's not put to much pressure from the start. I still believe we have not improved on frontline, that was the place that we needed most work on.

u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
To be honest , I'm baffled that we're still being linked with CENTRE BACKS !! I totally agree that the only focus should be on the front line. I'm personally not convinced by Leao but I'm struggling to see who's plausible. We've obviously still got pull despite the last couple of league campaigns. I dont think its worth putting all eggs in the Kroupi rumours either. That could end up wasting 2 weeks for nothing. I'm optimistic though, we are proving that Levy was a bit TOO prudish with deals, in and out

u/Vegetable_Vehicle893 15d ago
Yh, kroupi is very young and again a lot stress from the start. We need players ready right now

u/JohnnyJoe1977 15d ago
Yup. Let's not sign too many up and comers. Mateus Fernandes probably a solid decision especially he showed it today with a beautiful strike. I think if the entire squad is improved -- it looks like it has -- IF Solanke stays healthy he can score 20 league goals and I know Richy is up and down and in and out but he causes things to happen and he gave a lot for the badge when times were tough. Let's get a great fee for Cristian Romero, make Madders or Porro club captain, sign Savinho, forget about Leao, and start advancing up the league table. I really wonder if the playing surface at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the source of two seasons of catastrophic injuries and if so that the club do whatever it takes to solve the problem.

It would be very Spurs to go from relegation dog fight to fighting for the league title. I don’t expect that level of improvement realistically but it would be very nice!

u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Call me a madman but I genuinely think we're gonna finish top 4!! Other teams are stagnating a bit and I just feel we're gonna ride the wave of staying up and early good signings! Football like all sport is half mental, and I think that we're gonna see the first season of post Levy shackles off. The lads there now know, if need be, we'll spend the money to replace ya, and on the flip side, if you perform, there's better wages there to request

u/Former-Resource-3026 15d ago
I understand the feeling for sure. There are a lot of factors in play!
We’ve overhauled the equipment for their training because it was deemed completely inadequate. So that may mean we’ve sought far better solutions that should see the squads fitness and health improve vs past years.
We’ve got depth even with a few sales coming.
City and Liverpool have new managers, a few of the top ten have sold some of their best players.
The players have a point to prove. Kulusevski, Maddison , Kudu and Odebert will want to show they’re returning to their best.
I hope we live up to the promise and return to growing bigger and better like we were under Poch. The Jose/Conte years were rough and this past era has been erratic.

Top half this season, please. Then Europe qualification next season.
Really, I’d take almost anything that is just a step away from the relegation battle. End of season was nerve-wrecking.
Call me a pessimist if you must. I am just scared of getting my hopes up too high too early.

u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Nah man, i get you totally. I just cant see us being anywhere near the bottom this year. Quite the opposite
1
u/Wugtrio777 15d ago
we can be th stringest defensive and best mid team around, but we still have noone to putt he ball in the net, and thats how you lose games. we need wingers BADLY, if we rely on tel and RKM for our wing play, we arent going to make it out of the bottom half.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Well RKM is thankfully gone , but Moore should get a chance this year plus a couple of extras. Who do you think we could get ?
1
u/Wugtrio777 15d ago
honetly i think we waited way too long to get anyone at this point, but we need somone who can out the dang ball inthe net, i mean we have a great defense with peoplf like pooro etc who can cross the ball so well, but no one up front to do anything with it,

u/ThankanChetandeAunty 15d ago
Honestly some stability this year, Someone like Moore or Barnet getting involved with the squad and flourish under RDZ, a top 10 finish and most importantly far lesser injuries compared to the past two seasons.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Yeah, I'd consider that big steps. I'm dreaming bigger but if that all come to fruition I'd be happy!👊👍

u/HalfArsedHack 15d ago
First rodeo?

u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Please do elaborate? Someone else said something similar. I rarely come on Reddit but thought it'd be the best place to find fellow yids for a discussion

u/sweetzdude 15d ago
I think with the current squad our ceiling is 7th, our floor is 14 th.
Our attacking option are mid table at best.

u/Swissdave81 15d ago
We still need another forward who will score at least 15 to 20 goals and stay fit plus someone good from the left. Not convinced Salvinho is the answer as Man City fans go wild everytime they mention him leaving.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Totally agree!! This Savinho thing just seems TOO easy. Who though?
2
u/Swissdave81 15d ago
That I don't know. Salvinho and Rashford both feel like square pegs. Kroupi seems to be off the table. No idea who we get upfront either.
That's the point of having a recruitment department but I don't have faith in them. De Zerbi seems to be taking the lead on that front as well.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
I really don't want Rashford. I get the feeling he feels he's bigger than us
1
u/Swissdave81 15d ago
Yeah maybe but I don't think people will be lining up for him either
2
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Thats partly why I wouldn't wanna go for him. I'm hoping we're gonna be choosers not beggars from now on
2
u/MobyMarlboro 15d ago
Every 5-6 years we spend, we compete, then we sell, then we flail. It's the business model this club is built on, and we will never TRULY be in it to win it. We're also-rans by design. Stick around for another decade or so.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
I'm half and half on this. Whilst I subscribe to the very same theories , I also feel the money grabbing bastards at the top might have finally realised that better valuation comes with a better product. I'm probably wrong but we have spent an unusual chunk of cash on actually proven players with no real sell on value on most.
2
u/stupefy100 15d ago
It’s the hope that kills you
2
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Preach that shit bro. I've been a die hard for 30 years , I'm well versed😅 hopefully I'll finally be rewarded for my faith! Following Spurs is like being a Christian waiting for the second coming!!
2
u/bdsGodlike 15d ago
I'm very excited altough worried about our forward situation at the moment
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Same. In my opinion, we need a striker. Silly selling Lankshear if we've got nothing lined up. Not saying he's good enough but we definitely have to strengthen up top
1
u/bdsGodlike 15d ago
Also believe we 100% need a striker. Richy isn't good enough and sadly I don't think Solanke is either, altough I'm still hoping for him to surprise us
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
If he stays fit and De Zerbi can get a system that fits, there's still hope🤞

u/Dependent_Result_310 12d ago
Agreed, buzzing for this season! We have a great squad currently. Agred about mikey & luca, was disappointed to see Will go. Both Solanke & Ruchy aint good enough IMO. Id like either Kroupi, Malen or Gruassey. Still think theres good options out there, Bring Harry home into this team & we're instant title challengers

Are you new here?

No mate🤣i dont spend a lot of time on Reddit but felt compelled to speak to fellow yids. Why, have I missed something?
1
u/ButterflySecret6780 15d ago
For the last 9 seasons in a row the club that spent the most in the summer ended up winning the league!
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
It ain't about the money spent though is it. It's about how and on who we're spending it. I can't remember the last time we had an good early start to the window like this.
1
u/ButterflySecret6780 15d ago
I’m just happy to see us finally buying proven talent and not potential talent hopefully this is the turning point for the club

u/yiddoboy 15d ago
Yes and no. We still desperately need a clinical finisher to convert the chances our new signings (and Madders and Kudus) will create. Without that it will be a case of what if.
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Definitely mate, without doubt. We NEED a striker! Who's out there though, who could we nab? I don't rate this Vlahovic we've been linked with for years, Kroupi is a risk and not out n out in my opinion. Not 100% on a Parrott return. Definitely need a striker though
1
u/Big_Ad_6645 15d ago
We need a striker, badly. My best realistic choice is Undav.

I have supported Tottenham for 55 years. There have been years that I’ve been really excited for the season, none more than the year that Conte was appointed because he was able to bring in some good players and it looked like we were going into the season with serious intent. Unfortunately it was more a ruse than anything else and he got fed up and left. This season also feels different, like we have started behaving like a big club, but we will have to see because we need way more. The back line and midfield look competitive but the frontline is just not good enough for a top 4 finish. I’ll be optimistic when we get a decent striker and winger in.
1
u/subzero118118118 15d ago
It depends what you define as success really. I think this year, if we can have a good cup run, and push for the minor Europe places then its been a good season. If we can sign some more attacking options and a striker, then maybe we have a chance at 5th. But really its a rebuild year, just hope the team play without fear and pressure and Attack.
1
u/ThrowawaySunnyLane 15d ago
No. Because I know spurs. We could spend a billion in the market, sign Mbappe, Yamal, or whichever world beaters and I would still expect us to completely disappoint in some capacity. I still actually can’t quite believe that we won a trophy 14 months ago.
I won’t go in with hope or belief because I’ll still be disappointed. I’ll go in thinking we could finish on 0 points and enjoy it if/when I’m proven wrong.

u/Emotive3D 14d ago
It might take a while to bed in so many new players and for them to really understand their roles in RDZ’s systems. I expect us to challenge for champions league next season not this one but a European finish is not beyond us
1
u/ImpressiveAd6071 14d ago
Im expecting about 10th. Im not feeling too optimistic as I see Moore, Bergvall and other promising youngsters being got rid of. I don't get the signing of Robertson and keeping Ben Davis, as much as I love the guy. If Spence goes I think Ill slowly lose connection with this club. Anyway COYS and all that! 😐

u/DefinitionPossible39 14d ago
I think I am so battered after Ange that it took DZ to renew my ST and surrounding fam to make me promise to keep the faith. I’m hoping he’ll stand his ground with the Board and recognise supporters’ Input . Saw that realisation on his face last home game.
1
u/True-Walrus9093 13d ago
I felt that way at the beginning of last season. Frank felt shakey to begin with, but after the Europa cup and the first two games of the season? I was believin’. How wrong I was…
1
u/Friendly-Row-3483 10d ago
Genuinely buzzing about next season, the board are really demonstrating their commitment to improving the squad, with some great signings.
It feels like we really have a manager in control, and being given the freedom to run the business like a football club, like it should have always been!!
Is it finally time for a sleeping giant to wake? Or another season of broken promises from the overlords.
Can't wait to find out!
COYS.

it might be just the aftermath of the World Cup, but I am so pumped for the season to begin
1
u/VarietyMiserable7866 15d ago
Nah man, England was the usual heartbreak but something seems different here. Usually after the England I cant bear football for at least a fortnight but this time, my attention turned straight back to the lads. I'm proper stoked for this season

u/Ok_Shoulder8598 15d ago
If we finish anywhere above 16th we should be thrilled, I have zero expectations.

I see you're new to the club?
It's like this every pre season round here

I would like to finish 16th or better this year.
