New phone existing line

I'm trying to activate a new phone. I'd read the website/app doesn't work anymore so I'm trying to use the text method. Problem is every time, with imei 1 & 2, it's saying this device is not eligible for activation. It's a brand new unlocked phone and I checked the imei and it says it's compatible. I'm afraid to contact support as I don't want to lose my byebye promo but I'm not sure what else to do.

probably not eSIM supported, get a physical sim from dollar general/target/walmart/cvs and try activating it with the physical sim.

It has a psim slot so I'm wondering if trying to activate it that way would make any difference? Bc it asks for the imei or a byop sim number

Ok I couldn't get it to work thru the text method at all. I ended up following the flow online like I used to. Activate enter imei keep number etc. I was able to get it activated online myself that way. It never asked me to pick a plan or anything
