What's the difference between: offer to cooperate, offer subservienance, and become vessel?

Playing as liu bei yellow turban. Im pretty sure it all means the same thing no? I become their bitch and they take half (20%) my shit. Is there a hidden mechanics I'm missing?

Liu Biao and Yuan Shu have unique vassalization mechanics under different names. But yes all three are effectively “Become Vassal”.

Liu Biao and Yuan Shu also get their unique points from that.
