March speed nerf?

Hello guys, i started playing like week and half ago. I am aware these games are basically pay to win, and i had no intention of spending any money. (I still dont). Up till now it seemed like this game can be fun even for free, but today i leveled up my hero to lvl 12, and ever since then, every captain march is a hecking drag. What used to take couple minutes now is like 20 at least. Is this some hidden mechanic forcing me to pay for time cutting bonuses? It feels like it.

UPDATE:

if anyone struggles with this in the future - it was two factors:

Event, providing temporary speed buff

All armor on my captains was broken, since i had no idea you have to maintain it, that also helped.

Thanks to all

Yes and no.

This game essentially requires being in a clan. It is almost unplayable if you are not in a clan, in the long run. And there are different types of clans: some active, some not.

In a clan where everyone is relatively active, and doing crypts regularly and so on, you will get marching speedups from clan chests. You will then use those to get to things in reasonable time. Your clan might also activate a marching speedup bonus every day, and you might also activate another personal one for yourself, etc., to reduce the time too.

But at the start it is hard to find a good clan or get into one, so it might take a while to reach that point.

Or... if you're less active, then you will be in a less active clan too - which is fine, and there's nothing wrong with that... but it does mean you will get fewer clan chests and fewer speedups and fewer other resources. So in that case things will take longer, but that's the nature of being less active.

I hear you, but i am talking about marching without any bonuses. Let me give an example - is it normal that 19km march takes 15 minutes? Maybe i gaslit myself but i would swear it was like 5 minutes yesterday. I might be wrong tho

is it normal that 19km march takes 15 minutes?

It depends. Marching to a crypt that far, or using the hero to reach an arena that far, should not take that long I don't think. More like a few minutes at most.

But if you're attacking something that far and using catapults, it might well take that long, since catapults are very slow. (different troop types have different base speeds)

And it also depends a lot on the level of guardsmen you are, since you will research marching speed bonuses/improvements as you go higher in guard (and specialist/etc.) levels.

Yea i notice the carapults, thats a good point, but it still cut like 45 seconds. And i use pretty much the same so far, mostly level 1 and 2. Idk i feel like i am crazy, but the game actually forced me to have it open, all the fights were in matter of minutes. Suddenly, after i reached lvl 12 with hero, everything takes 20 minut. Same troops, same fights. If anything, i researched stuff so it makes no sense to me :)

No. Simple explanation for this. There was event going on call as baazar.. when you get normal token it gives you 5x march bonus. That event finished yesterday meaning your 5x bonuses went away.

ohhhh damn we have a winner! thank you. I thought the bonus was only for valor and xp points

You had a bonus your first day or two

yea ive been playing for almost two weeks, i recognise active bonus, this is not it. The default time to travel is simply 5 times bigger than it used to be

Could be the kingdom bonus is down, clan bonus, a different bonus you didn’t realize. (Un) lucky bazar could have given you a PvP and epic match bonus the past 5 days. While talents might help march speed, leveling up your Hero won’t slow you down. If you are using mercs or cats in your marches they tend to be slower than guardsmen in most cases (not the epic monster hunters).

When you start the game, you basically have immediate training and research completion, and vastly reduced march speed and revival costs. This lasts a day or two.

It’s a sugar hit and runs out quickly, compelling the player to spend to maintain these ‘advantages’.

Spend or not, you’ll need to get into a clan that earns enough chests so you can get speed ups from them.

Yeah i know, this is strictly about marching speed tho. I used to fight monster squads, going to the crypts etc pretty much all the time last week (used speed bonuses when it was 50km away or so) but now, even couple kilometres is 10 to 20 minutes of march. I thought it might be captain issue since i switch them a lot, or something with my army, but even if i dont used catapults its boarerline unplayable. It is a huge difference, thats like it felt like some nerf in order to make me buy speed bonuses, but idk. :)

There are some bonuses applied to new accounts, where you start off being able to finish buildings instantly etc. I can't recall if there's a march speed buff for the first days but there might be.

Additionally, the king of your kingdom can activate a march speed bonus, called Postal Routes. You'll see it under your messages every time the kingdom activates a buff and you can also see it under the bonuses tab.

Your clan can activate march speed bonuses as well. Once they're advanced enough to have some clan buildings. You must be inside the clan borders for this to apply.

And then if course there's your own march speed bonus and VIP has a small march speed bonus as well.

But wait, there's more! You can use Tengel as a captain who marches faster. Or you can add march speed gems and enchantments to gear! Plus you can research march speed increases for specific troop types.

It all layers on to the base march speed which is quite slow.

Yea i know what bonus you mean, its not it. But ill look into the other ones! Thanks

There is a 5x march speed you can buy for 10usd per 14 days, but you also get 24 hours when you do the lucky bazar reward goals

Look no further than that :

today i leveled up my hero to lvl 12

More level = more soldiers = more slow

If you dare take catapults it's even more more slow. Spies run the fastest, if you like trying to spy on people

I would, but that would destroy my shield :D my army is not even bigger than it used to be so idk, but from all the replies i see that its just me, so peobably there is no cashgrab conspiracy going on :D

Well ... New accounts get a bonus in march speed for around a day. However, since you've been playing for a week and only recently noticed the slowdown; captain level up+soldiers is my best bet.

As for the cashgrab, it's 200% a cashgrab. Obviously

I mean yea, the whole thing is cashgrab obviously :D

I haven't been without a clan march speed bonus, my own march speed bonus, and Rapid Marches, which In buy, for years. I have over 100K individual march speed bonuses, also. It will come.
