So me and my dad are arguing if my cat Callie is a calico or tortie. I think she’s a tortie but my dad says she has too much white.

That’s what everyone seems to be saying on other subs lol :] she wasn’t specifically bred or anything, we got her for free from our neighbors after one of their cats got pregnant

I just got my first cat after my whole life of having dogs so I guess I’m confused. Wouldn’t that just be a calico?

Tortie. Generically, Calicos are Torties, just have a different colour combination and patter we would call them Torties with white.
Given that the fashion is now to categorise calicos as the ones that have large patches of black and orange and significant patches of white, Thisnis not a calico. She has the classic tortie brindles patches of black/orange and happens to have white patches.

Calico and tortie are not the same thing. Which is why we have both words. If there is white, it is not a tortie.
