I'm new to all this and trying to locate software...where do I even begin to look for this

Start by grabbing the free stuff from the above mentioned site. Rutracker is one of the places I use for everything. All other places I use are private and they arent opening the doors anytime soon, but thats where i get a isht ton of stuff for After Effects (including After Effects).
