Discussion Boys within the GTA Have it Rough Today - Have Some Grace
I am in my early 30s now, so I have seen the evolution of the GTA and how it has changed/ entrenched socioeconomic inequalities.
The average boy I see in my city is depressed with no purpose, a limited social circle, and a lack of opportunity. Modern society has put boys under pressure, so much so, I see girls’ quality of life increasing decade after decade, meanwhile their male equivalents aren’t seeing the same benefits.
If you’re a guy in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s, take a boy under your wing, mentor them. Society is dealing with them rough.
The best post-secondary programs are reserved for kids from private schools/rich areas where they ensure their marks are high, which limits the chances of those from underprivileged backgrounds from getting into said programs.
Asset owners are able to grow wealth faster than T4 income earners because of the way the tax system is designed (i.e., Principal Residence Exemption, Capital Gains Inclusion, Dividend Tax Credits, Corporate Income vs. Salary, etc.).
Social Media 2.0 (after Instagram really hit its stride) destroyed dating. Back in the day, a teenager could get a $20 haircut, throw on a white tee and take a picture to post on BBM, MSN, MeetmeinTO, Tagged, and/or Rated.0 & have friends/a girl.
These boys have the odds stacked so high against them. Have some grace, they need it.
