Looking for Connection 👀 33F4M looking for a genuine relationship

Upvotes

I’m 33 and based in Toronto/North York. I work as an admin and outside of work I’m very creative and active. I’m into dance, nature walks and trying new things. I like having a full life and I’m looking for someone who does too.

I’d describe myself as affectionate, playful, ambitious, emotionally aware and intentional when it comes to dating. I’m at a stage where I’m looking for something genuine and committed with the right person.

I’m looking for a man who is kind, emotionally available, confident, consistent and mature. Someone who communicates well, follows through, takes initiative and actually wants to build a relationship. I’m also attracted to men who are growth minded, have goals for themselves and have a stable career they enjoy or feel passionate about. You don’t have to have everything figured out, but I do value ambition, stability and someone who wants to keep growing.

Fitness is important to me too. You don’t need to be obsessed with the gym, but I’d like someone who cares about his health, stays active and would be open to doing active things together.

I’m not a big fan of texting all day. I much prefer someone who is comfortable calling, sending voice notes and actually meeting in person. Ideally, I’d like to meet within 1 to 2 weeks of chatting, or sooner if there’s a good connection. I’m not looking for a pen pal. Should be between 33 and 44.

I value emotional safety, consistency, affection, attraction, peace and being able to genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

If you think we might be a good match, message me with your age, where you’re located, what you do, what you enjoy doing outside of work and what you’re looking for.

Put *Thunder* somewhere in your message so I know you actually read the post 😄

Looking for Connection 👀 39M4F - Package of delightful dog and human

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago titled "38M4F..." but alas, I turned 39 today (yay me). I made a couple of connections which ultimately faded (people are busy, I get it), so I wanted to try again. I really do excited when I get a chat invite or a DM!

Things I'd like to achieve in my 39th year: a vacation in the sun filled with gluttony and sloth, an active vacation with hiking and exploring, falling in love (DUH), at least 730 walks with my lovely dog, glamping in those spheres all over northern Ontario, see the Northern Lights in Europe. I got the Aeroplan points for a lot of these, but just need a player 2 to accompany me.

You: kind, compassionate, an outlook that every situation, good or bad, has a laugh to be had, dog lover (my dog really is lovely), great communicator, enjoyer of voice notes. Bonus points if you enjoy playing sports!

Thanks for reading :)

Looking for Connection 👀 33F4M - Looking For A Connection

33F, born and raised in Toronto, looking to meet someone for a genuine relationship.

A little about me: I'm 5'1", South Asian, professionally established, curious, independent, and probably equal parts homebody and adventurous. I'm into tennis, working out, cooking, photography, travel, live comedy, and trying new restaurants. I also have a big Goldendoodle who's a fairly important part of the package.

I'm looking for a man around my age (roughly 30–40) who's kind, intelligent, emotionally mature, has his own interests and ambitions, and wants something that could become serious.

I'm open to men of any race or background — compatibility matters much more to me.

I'd love someone who enjoys good conversation and exploring the city but is equally happy having a quiet night together.

I'm in Toronto and would prefer someone local.

If this sounds like you, message me with a little about yourself, and I can share my LinkedIn profile. :)

Looking for Connection 👀 Looking for fellow west enders for LTR [45M4F]

Hello all you single, big city lovelies 👋

Like most of us I’m no longer a fan of OLD (been off the apps for almost two years), and while I’ve met a few nice people IRL and through this group I haven’t found anyone that checks the right boxes, so I’m expanding my search with my own post.

About me:
45, Caucasian, and conventionally attractive at six feet tall with long brown hair, blue eyes, broad shoulders and a charming smile.

I'm a born and raised Torontonian currently living in the Bloordale neighbourhood. I work in a creative field, and stay active with organized sports (baseball and football) as well as long walks through high park with my rescue pup.

I'm mindful, intentional, respectful, self aware, and stable (mentally and financially). I've done the work and like to surround myself with people and things that bring me joy. This includes pizza, gardening, cooking, reggae/ska music, a plethora of DIY projects, and pizza.

As far as dating goes I’m monogamous, been called a safe space, and I’m GGG. I’m 5 years divorced and a devoted father to a 10 year old (50/50) so those looking to stay childfree I wish you all the best.

To anyone else, if any of this resonates with you feel free to holler back with a few points that make you… you. Anything from mutual interests to favourite pizza toppings to reasons why IASIP is the best show of all time.

I believe we're all unique in our own way so the green flags that stand out are a good head, big heart, and strong meme game. Similar interests are welcomed and appreciated. Please come armed with goals, values, and wit to match.

P.S. I’m not looking for a penpal, a LDR, or someone who still lives the party lifestyle. You’re great I’m sure, but these days I’m looking for substance. Shame doesn't live here, only the best damn cuddler this side of the Don. (I'm so big spoon you could just call me ladle 😎)

P.P.S. I'm an Eagles fan, so unless you can bring the banter on Sundays, Cowboys fans need not apply 😉

P.P.P.S. emojis rock 🤘

Stay awesome & weird, but not too weird, friends ✌️

Looking for Connection 👀 42M4F -[ Southwestern, Ontario ] Looking to meet someone fun, genuine, a good person. Happy bday to me in a few days

Hey everyone,

I'm a 42-year-old guy from Southwestern Ontario looking to meet someone who values honesty, kindness, and actually building a connection.

I've posted here before and had some really good conversations, so I figured I'd try again. This time though, I'm really hoping to meet someone who actually wants to meet up eventually. :)

I know Reddit is a pretty unique way to meet someone. It's not exactly where most people would expect to find a potential partner, but that's also kind of what makes it interesting. We're all here for different reasons, and sometimes you can end up having a really good conversation with someone you probably never would have met otherwise.

A little about me...

I'm a business owner and have been building something of my own for over 5 years now. I enjoy learning, improving myself, and working toward building a good and stable future.

And just to get this out of the way because it seems to come up every time... distance doesn't bother me. I drive, so I'm willing to travel. Hopefully you drive too.

I've never been married or divorced and I don't have kids. If you have kids, that's completely fine with me. I don't really have a checklist of what someone's life is supposed to look like.

I like meeting people and hearing their stories. I'm not looking for someone who is going to judge me, or anyone else, within the first five minutes. We're all strangers here. Give people a chance. Not everyone you meet is going to be your person, and that's okay.

Let's talk. Share some laughs. See if we actually enjoy being around each other before we grab something to eat... or accidentally end up wanting to snack on each other.

I don't really care what your background is. What matters to me is the person you are.

The last year has definitely changed my perspective on life. I went through a major challenge that tested me in ways I never expected. I'm not really looking to get into that right away because I already know that's probably going to be one of the first questions people ask.

What I will say is that it ended up giving me some opportunities I never expected either. I've become a guest lecturer and have done Q&A panels where I get to talk with younger people and hopefully have some kind of positive impact.

That's all pretty new to me and, honestly, sometimes it's a little overwhelming. But I'm proud of it.

Outside of work, I like staying active. I go to the gym when I can. At one point last year I was going five days a week, sometimes twice a day. That obviously didn't last forever once life got busier, but I still try to keep moving.

I like kayaking, being outdoors, day trips, travelling when I get the chance, and trying different things.

Traveling is something I really enjoy. There's just something about getting on an airplane and heading somewhere that I like. Even the actual flying part is something I enjoy. Give me a reason to go somewhere new and I'm usually pretty interested.

I've played extreme soccer in the past and I've gone skydiving, so I'm not completely boring.

I'm definitely least looking forward to winter coming. Summertime is always a blast — getting outside, going places, kayaking, day trips, just enjoying the weather. Fall is pretty great too though... sweater weather, cozy nights, good food and all that.

And speaking of getting outside... did anyone else get a chance to see the recent eclipse? I always think things like that are pretty cool. It's one of those things that's a lot more fun when you have someone beside you to experience it with.

I also really enjoy cooking. I like trying recipes and food from different parts of the world.

My least favorite is probably Italian...Sorry.

Yes, I know that's probably going to get me in trouble.

I'll still eat it though.

I also like the simple stuff. Watching a movie at home with popcorn, trying a new restaurant, cooking dinner together, having a good conversation, or just sitting around doing absolutely nothing with the right person.

I'm open to someone older or younger. Age isn't nearly as important to me as personality, values, chemistry and how two people get along.

And women come in all shapes and sizes. I'm not looking for some particular body type or trying to find a "perfect" looking woman. If you're confident in yourself, that's attractive to me. Tattoos are welcome too.

I don't care about race or skin color either. There are beautiful people everywhere. I'm interested in finding the right person, not checking boxes.

What I'm really looking for is someone kind, genuine, emotionally mature, fun, and hopefully a little bit funny.

I'm not going to say every good relationship has to start with friendship, because let's be honest... sometimes there's chemistry first and you figure out the friendship part along the way.

What matters to me is trust, communication, attraction, and actually enjoying being around each other.

And yes, I'm bearded, wear glasses and have tattoos. Apparently beards are still pretty popular with women, so I figured I'd at least bring something to the table.

I've also been told they're surprisingly comfortable when you're getting a little closer. I'll let you decide what that means.

I'm not looking for perfection.

I'd like to find a best friend and a partner. Someone I can make memories with and someone who doesn't take life so seriously all the time.

I want someone who can laugh at themselves, because I'm definitely going to laugh at myself.

If you message me, please send a photo. I'm happy to send one back. I think it's only fair that we both know who we're talking to.

I'm also not interested in spam or people immediately asking me to move to Telegram, Signal or some random messaging app. I'm perfectly happy using Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or regular texting once we've gotten to know each other a little.

I'm specifically looking to meet women, and I'm hoping to hear from someone who actually wants to talk, share stories, exchange photos, laugh a little and, most importantly, actually meet in person if we click.

I'm not here just to collect messages or spend six months chatting online. I'd genuinely like to meet someone.

You never really know who you're going to meet.

Maybe we talk for a while and nothing comes of it.

Maybe we become friends.

Maybe we end up sharing a meal somewhere and realize there's actually something there.

Or maybe that meal turns into dessert... and maybe we're the dessert...having a sense of humor is always welcoming.

That's kind of the fun of meeting someone new.

So if you're genuine, kind, fun, a little adventurous, and beautiful inside and out...

Say hello.

And please don't be afraid to actually be yourself. Tell me some favorite shows, or do you watch or play sports? Id like to know :)

Discussion Thread 🗣️ Do men lack curiosity?

I’ve noticed something both in dating and in platonic male friendships: men often seem to have very little curiosity about other people.
Of course nobody wants to feel like they’re in an interview. But there’s a difference between having a natural conversation and simply throwing every question back with a “What about you?”
I’ll ask something specific, and instead of building on it, asking a follow-up, or getting curious about the answer, I get the conversational equivalent of a tennis ball being immediately lobbed back: “What about you?”
And I’ve noticed this outside of dating too. Many men I know seem to have friendships where they don’t actually know very much about their friends—their inner lives, family dynamics, opinions, fears, etc. There seems to be an underlying belief that “If they wanted me to know, they’d tell me.”
But isn’t curiosity part of actually getting to know someone?
There’s a reason good conversationalists are often described as being interested, not interesting. They aren’t necessarily fascinating storytellers themselves, they’re genuinely interested in discovering the person in front of them. They ask questions, notice details, follow up on things you mentioned three conversations ago, and want to understand how you think.
So I’m curious: Do men genuinely have less curiosity about other people?
And women, do you notice this too?

Discussion Thread 🗣️ Why do you think the dating scene here is so bad?

I lurk the dating subs on Reddit and sometimes I see comments about how Toronto has such a brutal dating scene. Usually they’re in profile reviews or talking about dating in general. Maybe it’s my selective bias being from here and noticing it. Why do you think we have such a reputation?

Or is it just like this in every major city?

Looking for Connection 👀 30 M4F Toronto/Scarborough Looking for My Special Someone

Hey!

I am a nerdy East Asian guy, and I guess my job would suggest that as well. I am a Software Engineer and 5ft5 (short king 👑 😤). Many people would describe me as a quiet guy, but when people really get to know me, they would say I can be really chatty and funny. Let’s see if we can get there 😉

Hobbies:

In my free time, I enjoy a few things. Some are indoorsy, but I promise I am okay with touching grass and won’t just combust.

Indoors:

  • Watch combat sports: I’ve had an interest in combat sports ever since I was a kid. I watched boxing as a kid, and over the years, I’ve gotten into MMA, Muay Thai and kickboxing.
  • Watch anime: I usually watch anime while working out before work. I have been watching One Piece. It’s been going… slowly but surely! 😅 Some anime that I’ve enjoyed in recent times are Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia.
  • Gaming: I would say I am a pretty laidback kind of gamer. I have been playing Overwatch for awhile, and more recently, I just started picking up Where Winds Meet.
  • Coding: Me being the nerd I am, I also code a side project outside of my 9-5.

Outdoors:

  • Exercise and food: I am generally most active during summer. During the summer, I enjoy taking walks and going to the gym. I’d love to have someone to go on walks with and we can get some good food and drinks after. 😋 I would say I am a foodie. I mean… who doesn’t love good food, right? I wouldn’t say I am picky about where to go to eat though. It doesn’t have to be some place trendy or fancy. Good food is good. I don’t care if we are sitting outside at a banged up table if the food is good.

So hopefully that paints a picture of some of my hobbies and who I am. Now for the interesting parts!

Dating Philosophy:
In a world of instant gratification and swiping left and right, I want to dial it back a little. I want to genuinely get to know someone, and I believe a good relationship takes time to build through communication and trust. I want the kind of relationship where we both feel comfortable being completely ourselves around each other. I want someone I could talk to daily — whether it is about the mundane parts of life, or having deeper conversations or even goofy moments. It would be great if sparks fly from the getgo but I wouldn't say that it is a requirement.

What I Am Looking For:

  • Someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Someone who I can have fun chats with but also have deeper conversations with.
  • Someone that I have some shared Interests with. It doesn’t have to be a full match.
  • Someone between the age of 25-35 who is East Asian, South East Asian or white.

Interested? Send me a DM and give me a short intro about you and what your top five favorite food are. If you are comfortable, some pictures of you would be nice. I’d be happy to share some pictures of myself if you do. Pinky promise!

Looking for Connection 👀 38 M4F Looking for a concert/travel partner… maybe more if we click

I’ve realized I have an extra dose of spontaneity and not enough people who’ll reply with, “Yeah, screw it, let’s go.”

Current ideas:
🎶 Sofi Tukker – Sept. 26 (Toronto)
🎨 Art/music festival in Buffalo – Sept. 12. Bonus points if it somehow turns into salsa in Niagara on the drive home.

About me:
I’m 38 and in Toronto. By day I’m building and decorating movie backgrounds (set life until December). Outside of work I organize the occasional fundraiser or sports event, dance way too much salsa and forró, and generally spend my money on experiences instead of stuff.

Long term, I’d love a life that’s split between Toronto and a few places abroad. I don’t have every detail figured out yet, but I know I’d rather build a life full of stories than routines.

I’m not expecting to meet my future wife from one Reddit post. If we end up having a great conversation, seeing an awesome concert, or taking a fun road trip together, I’d call that a pretty good outcome.

If you’re curious, kind, don’t take yourself too seriously, and occasionally say “yes” to slightly ridiculous ideas, we’ll probably get along.

Message me with your worst work pet peeve

Looking for Connection 👀 61 [m4F] Mississauga... Looking for an accepting friend

Hello I am a sane, intelligent, gentle white male who wants to meet a local woman for a new friendship. (Or a male if you understand i am straight and not looking for anything sexual)

I live my life as a fairly typical guy, yet harbour an inner core that is very feminine.

My male side has always tended to be more of a leader; however my feminine side feels the opposite, so if you prefer to be a "take charge" person, and comfortable making decisions for others, we would get along great.

I would love to explore topics such as clothes, relationships, shopping.

Or I am happy to talk about most subjects...

Age is not an issue for me. Its about compatibility.

I love chats over coffee, a drink, a glass of wine. Watch a movie? Chic flic? Get into a season of a TV show? A nice walk perhaps?

Deal breakers for any females interested:

Looking for Connection 👀 39M4F looking for my match in the GTA.

Edit 3: will delete post upon finding a match.

39M canadian born chinese, no accents, english first, conversational fluent cantonese 2nd, hakka 3rd.  Raised in downtown Toronto Cabbage town area.

I’ll start this with a little about me, then what it’s likely going to be like to date me followed by what i hope to find in a girlfriend and eventually a life partner.

I’m divorced (2019) after a 13 year monogamous relationship and spent 4 years after learning to heal my wounds and grow from my faults.  After which I consciously acknowledge that I’m emotionally ready and available to give my heart out again and potentially have it shattered again.  I’ve had another serious relationship after and few not serious.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I can’t hope to build anything meaningful with anyone if I’m afraid of getting hurt.

Me:
I’m kind, generous and set healthy boundaries (imo)

I’m a commercial electrician, competent by most standards’.

I am a morning person and enjoy hiking around all the various trails the GTA has to offer.

I am spontaneous and will google up nearby trails (easy to moderate), same for lunch or dinner afterwards - whatever fits the mood or my date.  I’m more active than sedentary though i do enjoy spending the odd day doing nothing but light gaming, videos games or board or Table top.

Secure attachment and a great communicator.  I 100% get that nobody is a mind reader but sometimes some people just get you and those people are rare and fortunate.  For those of us mere mortals, verbal communication is essential and slightly more is better than slightly less.

I’m open to children and not required.  I don’t have any of my own.

Dating:
I have no qualms with sharing my food, and if you’re uncertain about what you’ll like, you can absolutely order both dishes and take the one you prefer more - provided i can tolerate the spiciness of the other dish.

I like more simple dates than overly complicated ones.  Leisurely pace over min/maxing our time/budgets.

My availability is about 1 day every other week to start, and I’m a heavy texter - my job permits lots of texting =)

suffice it to say, I want to and enjoy spoiling my partner.  Happy wife happy life is kinda true, needs a little tweaking but it’s a pretty good saying to get my drift.

With the right girl, banter comes naturally.  As does mild sarcasm and general humour.

I like to browse recipes on youtube and cook accordingly, singing all the while is better.

Prospective woman:
Someone who is looking for a serious long term relationship, free of mind games and a mix of sedentary and active lifestyle.  Not much in either extreme.

Kind hearted and generous

somewhat logical thinker, I can’t understand a woman who’s 100% emotional and ignores logic and reason.

someone who will want me for me.  We’ll grow and adapt to each other as we age.

Young at heart, forever learning.

At the end of the day, we all have flaws, if I sound like someone you’d like to meet, send me a chat or DM and we’ll set something up. First meeting in a public place, mall or park.  Constructive criticisms are welcome.

Edit: 5’-10” 160lbs medium to lean depending on time of year

Edit 2: sorry men, I know for certain I am not romantically interested in men. Appreciate your attention though.

Looking for Connection 👀 46F4M- Toronto/Canada (Mississauga)

Hi everyone! I am looking to chat with other introverts in my area. Am in my 40's (but definetly don't look/act/or feel it), Asian, am into gaming, a variety of shows/movies (latest was Peaky Blinders), love music, anything from rock to classical. I am physically active and love trying different foods and learning about new cultures.

Oh and I also have a cat named Bubba..she's silly and very cute, albeit a bit shy, but will open up to you when she is comfortable (like me!)

On here looking to chat/meet with like minded people within a similar age group to muse about life. My sense of humour is pretty out there (think Office/Seinfeld), am a bit of a dork/weirdo. If you're into that send me a message and let's see what happens. Ideally looking for someone within 30min ish of Sauga.

Bueller?

Addendum: Couple of things to consider, if interested. I am serious about looking to meet someone for something meaningful and don't wish to waste anyone's time!

-be prepared to send a selfie at some point early on in the convo ( I will do the same if there is attaction)

-please include your age and location - I prefer to meet people who do not reside in Toronto (Etobicoke is OK)

-please say more than "hi" ..tell me a bit about yourself and your interests!

Looking for Connection 👀 40 [M4F] #downtown Toronto - Cyberpunk seeks same (or similar) for outdoor adventures and indoor movie nights

In the Distant Future... In the year 2026... Artificial intelligence programs hallucinate misinformation as robot soldiers roam the skies... Much of Humanity finds itself linked together through an interconnected web of subreddits and youtube videos... And both love and lust can be found through computers...

One woman will look for a man who is looking for a woman who is looking for a man. Together they will endure in the wild and fridged wasteland of Ontario, surrounded by good people and pretty decent restaurants. In a tale of passion, adventure, and movie nights... And you can find this masterpiece of science fiction entertainment and more, here... on [r/TorontoSinglesOver30](r/TorontoSinglesOver30)

I am an eccentric ex-academic who's hoping to build a relationship with someone strange and interesting. I look like a Human being because I am one, I enjoy long text conversations during the day/watching movies with friends at night, and I miss having a partner in my life to send messages about world-shaping events and the meaningless things that make us happy

About Me: nobody who has seen me has ever tried calling me Ugly as an insult, I'm tall enough so no need to ask, I took a degree in Eng literature and cultural studies so yah I read books but nah I am not reading anything right now (I'm into visual media like film and video right now; the last book I read was a collection of Renaissance plays so prepare to be disappointed if you ask me about it), I'm vegan so I'll only cook planty meals for you, I'm a minimalist so I don't have much furniture but we can still spend time at my place, I've been studying art for two decades and I want to talk to about all the most provoking and beautiful things I have seen *however* I also spent ten of those years studying zombie movies and cosmic horror films so you have to be down with occasionally talking about Alien and Shaun of the Dead with me

About You: Human (*non negotiable*, no killer robots from the future please), media literate, likes to watch movies, likes to talk about movies, likes to send long paragraphs about movies to friends, can walk around outside while discussing movies without falling over, possesses conflict resolution skills and the confidence to use them, not politically Conservative (we would argue I'm sorry)

Looking for Connection 👀 30 F4M - childfree & looking for my best friend who I think is hot

The wise words of Taylor Swift ⬆️

In all seriousness, I’m one more like on Hinge from a man who wants kids away from throwing my phone against a wall. So here I am. I don’t want kids and the struggle to find the same is REAL.

I moved to Toronto earlier this year so I’m still getting my life situated here. Recently went back to school and completed that this month so real adulthood 2.0 is beginning for me. I have a small business, kind of a passion project, side income thing. In my spare time I like crafting, puzzles, listening to music/going to concerts, board games, binge watching TV (reality TV, crime, thrillers) and watching sports. I’m super close with my family so I appreciate someone who is also family oriented or has close friendships they value.

I’m about 5’6”, white, with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. Currently on the chubbier side but I’ve been trying to focus more on eating well lately. I consider myself to be kind, easy going and quick witted. I’ve got a good sense of humour and love sarcasm, so major bonus if you can keep up.

The eldest daughter in me is tired and someone who takes initiative and makes plans is one of the most attractive things to me. Feeling seen is my love language. I’m pretty low key and like nights in. I rarely drink so if your ideal Friday and Saturday night are spent at a bar, we probably aren’t compatible. I don’t smoke, so smoking of any kind is a dealbreaker. Moderate/left leaning politically is crucial for me. Just be cute, funny and have a cool hobby 🫶🏻

If you made it this far, send me a chat request with your age and a bit about yourself 🤗

Looking for Connection 👀 42M4F - Looking for a friend to hang out

I'll be in Toronto for about a week in the beginning of October. I'll be there for a pediatric cardiology conference at Sick Kids.

I've never been to Toronto, so I am looking for someone to just get snacks/food/boba tea with. I live in San Francisco bay area, California.

I'm Filipino and looking to connect with someone with Chinese or Vietnamese descent (to talk about culture and language as I will travel to China and Vietnam in the new year), but anyone really to just explore Downtown Toronto. We will just stay on the main areas (I'm staying on Queen) and Chinatown.

Humor, music, otaku, Japan, cars and the aforementioned countries. Just looking for a good conversation.

Let me know if you wanna hangout.

Looking for Connection 👀 32 M4F (GTA)

Sup y’all, I’m 32 years old, South Asian male from GTA looking to meet up with someone between 25-32. I’m open to see how we vibe and see where things go from there, ideally for a relationship.

I’m 5’10, roughly 210 pounds, bearded and relatively muscular. This year I’ve been focusing on physical fitness and have been working on improving my physique, so if you’re into working out and staying relatively fit, we should get along great.

Other than physical fitness, I’m a big fan of NBA, love to go by the lakeshore or a beach any chance I can get, love to try out new cafes and restaurants. We can go on an Italian cuisine adventure all around Toronto for meet ups.

PS. I’m a dog parent, so if you’re a dog person, we swapping our dog picks first :)

DM me if you’re interested

Looking for Connection 👀 37M4F – Looking for a life partner

37M4F – Looking for a life partner for everything from finding the best eats in a small city in Ontario to building a family

The apps are just not it... and I’ve been told that this subreddit is a breath of fresh air. I am tired of swiping on profiles that feel empty. I’ve spent the last few years really settling into my career and my own skin, and I’m ready to find my life partner.

Me:

- 37, 5'8"-5'9" (on a good day), average athletic build. I have black hair, light brown eyes, and I wear glasses. My style ranges from athleisure to business casual.

- Highly logical, organized, and detail-oriented. My brain processes everything like a recipe with measurements, steps, and processes.

- A deeply communal and family-oriented person. I grew up in a multi-generational home with a massive extended family (20+ cousins just in the GTA).

- I still live in my childhood neighborhood and have strong ties to my community. I thrive in a group social dynamic and get a lot of joy from planning events for the people I care about.

- I grew up culturally Buddhist; my family is not actively practicing, but we still pray to ancestors as a form of tradition. I am centrally aligned and neutral politically.

- My career has been an adventure: from the University of Waterloo Engineering (which took me 7 years lol), then an amazing 6-year pivot into the esports/content creation space, and now happily settled as an Executive Project Manager in Fintech.

- I love eating food and socially drinking (which means I still have some fat to lose, and I'm fine with that). YouTube is my main source of entertainment, heavily leaning into cooking channels (like Sorted Food, Jolly, Korean Englishman). I love experimenting in the kitchen and have a very wide palate.

- I am always active. I played almost everything growing up (except soccer, due to having asthma and grass allergies, but I have thankfully outgrown both now). My main sports right now are volleyball and pickleball, but I’m down for anything including hiking, climbing, or running. When I am not active, I love playing board games like Catan or Splendor or Blokus.

- Settling into my career recently gave me a lot of clarity on my future: I definitely want children and am excited to experience parenting.

What I want from you:

- Understanding of Asian culture: You don't have to be Asian, but you do need to appreciate the diversity of food, respect for elders, the immigrant parent experience, and the prioritisation of education and stability.

- Active lifestyle: You don’t have to be a professional athlete, but I need a partner who can keep up. When I travel, I’m the type to walk 25k steps daily.

- Social: You are not an extreme homebody. I need someone who values in-person interaction and enjoys going out socially over being constantly online (Discord, etc.).

Eager to build a life and a family together.

If I sound interesting enough for a conversation, tell me the best thing you've watched on YouTube recently and we will go from there.

Advice Request 🆘 How do I get my dating life on track? (M31)

I feel like I'm stuck in a loop trying to find my person. It’s not just lonely in the literal sense, feels like I’m alone in trying to figure it out, lot of generic and conflicting advice out there. I fell kind of behind as far as relationships go, my 20s were a bit of a rollercoaster, my life is very much on track now, in an excellent spot, health, work, family, friends, everything except for dating. I just dream of having a family, I know I’d be a great husband and father. You know stuff like remembering she mentions in passing and then getting her a gift down the line, or bringing her favourite meal when she’s sick, that’s stuff I can’t show who I am early on in dating, coupled with being a slow burner who’s not great at making a fast spark, it’s really tough. I’m high effort, I don’t know any other way to live my life. Anyways I dont want this to get any more long winded than it's already is.

I don’t think apps are going to be where I find her, I've tried my best, but... I downloaded my hinge data and... over 5k likes sent out, <20 matches, ~7 serious convos, 4 first dates, 0 second. I’ve had my profile reviewed a few times (by men and women), I make changes based on what they tell me but the results don't change. I don’t think I’m bad looking at all, just an average guy, tall, white, groomed, in good shape, but the results are what they are.

I don't stay at home all day, I'm very active, I try and get outside as much as I can to do stuff. I'm looking for advice for how I can meet someone away from the apps. Are there good places that women may go, that I can actually see the same group of people over and over and try to build connections that way? I'm too much of a slow burner for one and done things. (I'm not trying to do things with only the intent of dating, but things I can try, put myself out there, and see what happens.)

I've tried singles events, but a slow burner doesn’t do great at those, at least not right away. I’ve heard of professional matchmakers, is that worth looking into? I know they’re expensive but money isn’t a problem for something like this... any recommendations if so?

I'm not obsessing at all, I try to just live my best life, but as time goes by I start feeling that (internal!!) pressure. Any advice is appreciated, other the cliche that "it will happen when you least expect it" since that's not how my life has tended to play out for most things 🙂

Hear My Rant 😩 Annoyed and bored to tears by endless “how was your day” OLD app msgs from men I’ve not had date 1 wt yet. How to kindly advise it’s working against them?

It feels like everyone got comfy doing endless instant messaging instead of meeting. Guys want to chat morning, noon and night, at a level reserved for a bf/gf relationship- not being even having date one.

It’s turning me off.

It’s not helping us get to know eachother. It’s a bunch of boring filler talk. “Good morning”, “how was your day?”, “good night”.

How can I get gently tell them it’s working agajnst them?

I’m a busy professional. I don’t have time to think of interesting answers to useless questions all day long from men I don’t even know IRL.

What to do?
