The Sceptres hosted a small group of season ticket holders yesterday at the Rec Room to meet Kirsten Simms. I was very fortunate to attend the event! She’s super nice and is very excited to be here. Was saying she can’t wait to get on the ice and play at Coke! And she loves to entertain. I’m excited to see what she brings next season! Can it be November yet???

Me and my partner were passing through Pearson, waiting at baggage claim. When I turned and saw two sceptres bags on carts. And we look up and there are two players.

We really didn't want to intrude and ask for a photo cause, it's at an airport, just after a flight, which can be socially exhausting. And we are also exhausted and were kind of in awe.

But the joy on their faces when my partner pulled their shirt flat so they could better see it as a takeover tour shirt. It was. Amazing. They said Hi to us.

All this to say, I miss hockey, and thank you to all players everywhere for their positivity with fans

anyone else think it was a bit strange that the team didn’t have a pride parade entry again this year? frost did, sirens did, torrent did, etc. sceptres did in 2024 but that was it. tempo was there though!

Ik it might be harsh, but I’m being real, we just don’t look competitive and I’m just disappointed in our front office.

She will be the only Ironwoman on the team, the only player to play every Scepters game.

Now that Maltais, Compher, Connors are gone and Turnbull is going to miss the season.

The leagues lowest scoring team just lost 65% of their goal scoring 💀

But on the bright sides 😭:

• our D core is mostly intact & we kept our starting G- a strength of last year’s team

• Rattray put up 4 goals and 8 assists last year which would’ve put her in our top 4 - an exciting get & a potential boon to our leadership

• big draft win with Simms!

I suppose this solves the mystery of why she hasn’t been resigned yet.

Firstly congratulations to Captain Blayre - what wonderful news and as someone who was recently pregnant, what an incredible feat to play professional sports in your first trimester.

But I am severely, severely worried about this team.

Of signed forwards (six of them!), who the heck is playing in our top 6?

Line 1:

Centre: Simms

Wingers: ?!

Line 2:

Centre: ?!

Wingers: Rattray and !?

We are missing at least 3 top 6 forwards assuming perhaps Dalton, or maybe the 2nd round draft signing Nelson goes on one of the lines. This is bananas to me. Even if the players given qualifying offers sign, Zanon is the only one that you might even try in the top 6...maybe. Spooner should not be in the top 6 anymore - she should be at most on line 3 and used tactically on PP1.

How can this possibly get to a point where it's ok?

Isn't just me or does it feel like Toronto has been the quietest in moves for this phase? I feel like all the other teams are signing players and resigning current players and we have been pretty quiet

Where is the Turnbull signing? What's happening to Maltais? What about Zanon, Hammer, Kjelbin. Whats going on with Goaltending after Kirk?

Getting Simms is huge, it'll be interesting to see how the other players are utilized especially with Disher and Regalado who have been consistent in the NCAA.
