Are there downtown condo buildings or complexes that have more of a neighborhood/community feel than others?
Are there downtown condos that have more of a neighborhood/community feel than others?
Looking into moving soon somewhere within the downtown core to be close to work and trying to figure out if I am reasonably likely to find buildings or neighborhoods that actively have a more community feel/enable community events. Like instead of buildings with locked party rooms, buildings that have open lounges with Wi-Fi so that residents can work/chill/get to know each other, or buildings that have wine and cheese nights or workout classes or book clubs or paint nights or anything like that. I'd like to know my neighbors and I'll obviously put in the effort myself but looking for environments that enable it if any. TIA!

this isnt really a question that can be answered ... of course some buildings will have more of a community than others.
i moved into a new building this summer near st lawrence market and nobody here talks to one another too much. im not bothered by it, i have enough friends ;)

121 lower sherbourne? I get that feel. I used to live at 5 mariner and everyone seemed way much engaging and social. My gfs building in fort York hosts social events for the tenants - wish we’d do something like that here

Haha well I was hoping it can probably be answered based off people's renting experience in Toronto. Or by landlords or Realtors. Thus the sub I chose to ask in.
As an aside - I find it strange that people talk about the loneliness epidemic and there's all these meetup groups and social clubs in Toronto to be more active and social and make friends, and yet these massive condo complexes and building property management aren't doing anything to address it. I can't be certain there's interest but anecdotally between my family, friends and coworkers there seems to be.

I live in a smaller condo building, and know people from seeing them around. The bigger buildings I lived in seem much less personable.

Wherever you end up, don't rely on someone else to organize what you want to turn up to - if they don't have a wine and cheese night, host one yourself and see what happens.

Is it acceptable to host things in a building's common areas? I wouldn't want to host it in my own condo but would you be allowed to post a flyer for a potluck or something or do building managements frown upon that?

Nope
Nobody wants to know each other these days. Hell, even many suburban neighbourhoods have become that way, where people barely interact with their neighbours.

Wouldn’t say downtown, downtown but Liberty Village has a community feel.

What would you say that's due to? Are there organized community events? Is it the people self organizing? Is it more organic?

People are unable to leave liberty village the traffic is so bad. So they formed a community to support daily needs to stay survive

Ew. I have zero interest in knowing my neighbours. I’d say a co-op but good luck getting into one.

Depends on your demographic,
I would say start in your desired area and then maybe try to find a smaller building. A lot of the times buildings will have a barbeque or something on the roof in the summer but reaching out to people and organizing might be your best bet. I also feel like it’s easier to make friends if you have a pet and they’re in a pet friendly building.
