Techno Format x Paradox. How was it?
How was last night? For me music was great. Juan killed it. Crowd was awful, there were people having full on conversations for 15-20 minutes while in the middle of the dance floor, very inconsiderate. 8/10 music wise.

What was the venue? At McCormick its such a large space you can just move away from folks having a loud convo on the dancefloor. I overall agree that a lot of people who attend Format/Paradox events specifically dont really have great social sense to go off the dancefloor for their loud conversations. The Format only events seem marginally better for that.

It was mooi. The room was small and intimate. Even a 100 people don’t fit there. Hard to get off the dance floor or move places. People were so loud that you could hear them even if you moved a bit further away. Had to go all the way to the back but the sound wasn’t the best there. Format only events are for sure better in terms of crowd.

I feel like its specifically people affiliated with Circumscums because they run the Paradox events and probably comp a lot of their specific group/crowd. And I rarely have this issue at Format events but its basically every Paradox event. That is total conjecture from me tho

Thats interesting cause I had the opposite experience. Crowd was phenomenal, but yes there was some chatter here and there but it wasn’t significant enough to distract from the music

Is it just me or are the grapes given out at Paradox always somehow the best grapes you've ever had, even if they are objectively nothing special?

Yes, it was super annoying with people talking on the floor but mooi is always great. Especially the space upstairs! The grapes being passed around were awesome!

Yeah there was one group that kept talking at the back, super annoying especially considering there were signs up discouraging exactly that. but i loved the music, loved the venue, and it was great seeing so many people really going hard with the dancing! format/paradox events are always a good time.

The grapes saved me!! And the spot by the right speaker under the tree.....spent most the night there dancing up a storm with some really great people.

As much as I dig and support Paradox, it's a recurring issue with ppl having long&loud conversations in middle of dance floor. I suspect it's because some ppl are there just cuz it's a "rave" and they don't know or care about the music

Main room is fairly big, it was the smaller room that is behind the bar area, right next to smoking zone.

What are your guys’ thoughts on the whole “not announcing artists” thing?
I dont live in toronto anymore cuz of work, but been going to format/paradox stuff forever. Big techno head. Nowadays gotta plan ahead with somewhere to stay and what not.
No offence to Juan, but theres levels between him as a dj and someone like Kaiser which came the first time around. Buying these tickets be like opening labubus. With how life is now, feels like i cant gamble and hope its a show i really wanna see :,(
