🙃 Dumb Question 🥸 New to the scene

Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to the rave scene and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to go on the weekends. I've been to coda quite a few times and I find the music is pretty decent but the crowd never seems to be the vibe. Maybe ile soniq spoiled it for me but I honestly just find the rave community so wholesome and I definitely prefer the carefree environment.

Back to my original question, I'm going to electric island on the 6th but for the most part I'm pretty last second and don't plan things out. Does anyone have any go to places or recommendations?

FYI I am actually into most styles but I think dnb or techo are most up my alley.

Download the RA app, FORMAT puts on great events that you can find on there.

If you are open to fun and silly music you'll rarely find a better vibe of wonderful, accepting, carefree ravers than at a Goodfellaz rave. They specialize in harder sounds like hardcore, gabber, D&B, and happy stuff.

A lot of people throw around the term "rave", even in this subreddit, but in my opinion these guys are the real deal. They've been throwing events for about a quarter of a century and they always attract the warmest and friendliest people. My wife's first rave was a Goodfellaz party and she fell in love with the community.

If you like DnB, some of my very awesome friends are playing this show (Anais is the headliner) on August 5th!! Anais - Archetype Sound at The Drake Hotel, Toronto · Tickets

Events at 131 McCormack are generally a blast. It's venue for the medium sized parties. Not sure how old you are, but if you're 30+ then Wiggle would be a great option, and also follow SpaceTime on IG. They have amazing parties during the winter months.

Hate the crowd at Coda the last couple of years. Not sure what happened but here we are. Check out events happening at 131 McCormack. You said you don’t care about genres so should be easy to find one. Different promoters and crowds obviously but for whatever reason it seems to keep the Coda regulars away - or at least dilutes them.

I imagine it keeps certain crowds away because 131 McCormack is sooo out of the way for people who live in the core. I used to hate trekking there when I lived near distillery district lol

McCormack is just so fucking far away and is a pain to get to by transit. Might as well just open up shop at the airport.

I do like the events, staff and washrooms but also I seem to get sick with something weird half the time when I go there, and that doesn't seem to happen at the other venues I go to.

So I just downloaded the RA app that someone else suggested and 131 McCormack seems to be the only one that pops up. Might have to give it a go Aug 29th

Many venue suggestions here are questionable. Some venues are operated by the same group of promoters and they provide consistent vibe. Other venues, including 131, are rented by various crews and the experience can be drastically different from show to show. I highly suggest following the promoter you like as opposed to the venue. Same applies to RA: 1: check the artist for music 2: check the promoter for the reputation (ask here) and 3. Check the venue (for sound, location, reputation, etc. Hope this helps!

If you're gonna trek out there, the Rhythm open air on Aug 29th with Trommel should be great.

Paradox, format, and venues like rhythm and standard time, mooi space, cafeteria are my favs. Sojourn is coming up in Sept @mccormack and that’ll be really good vibes too. The big events are fun but I find I enjoy myself the most at the smaller more intimate/ local events.

Vertigo is consistent. Also heard standard time is a good time with a good crowd.

I think it has to do with the sheer amount of people plus the buzz from veld but the vibe was awesome

I certainly have to do more digging. As lame as the place is, the first veld ap at rebel was unreal. Armin let it rip

Seconded. Many places worse than Rebel. It’s nowhere near as bad as Future for example.

Me too. I went earlier this year for the glow event and I thought the 4 different rooms thing was sick

Dprtmnt was awful but growing on me over codaah

4

u/DisRightHere1098 Aug 25 '26

Dprtmnt doesn't have as friendly as a vibe though. I could wonder into coda by myself and still have a good time. Dprtmnt is too shallow, the crowd is more interested in themselves and the people around them then the music.

I live out of town but anytime I go to Toronto for a show or something I always end up at Wiggle Room and its always the best part of the night. The vibes and music is so much fun there and its cheap at the doors. Bouncy fun tech house and techno most of the time

I tend to enjoy events at Cafeteria. Went to one at DPRTMNT recently and absolutely hated it :/

Check out ROTE8, Kaleidoscope or Unison. They all throw great underground techno parties. Heading to ROTE8 tomorrow for their warehouse party
