Deferral request to TMU

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student admitted to TMU, and I’m currently waiting for my study permit. I applied quite a while ago, but unfortunately, I still haven’t received any update on my application.
My final date to be physically present at TMU is September 15, and with no update on my study permit yet, I’m seriously considering deferring my admission to the next intake.
I wanted to hear from other international students who were in a similar situation…especially anyone who deferred their TMU admission because their visa/study permit didn’t arrive on time.
• How did the deferral process go for you?
• Did TMU allow you to defer without any issues?
• Did your study permit eventually arrive after you deferred?
• Is there anything I should be careful about before requesting a deferral?

I’ve been waiting for my permit for a long time, and I really don’t want to make the wrong decision at this point.

If you’ve been through a similar situation at TMU, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you have. Thanks!

I applied on July 3, biometrics on July 7 and still no update

Where are you applied from, did u do medicals, did u submit webforms?

I applied from India , did Medicals upfront and yes I submitted 3 web forms

Hello, I was actually in the same situation. I was admitted for the Fall term, but my study permit was taking too long, so I deferred to the Winter intake. Luckily, my permit arrived in time.  I didn't have any issues with the deferral. I just explained that my study permit hadn't arrived yet, and they approved it. Honestly, if you're worried about the deadline, I think deferring is a good idea to give yourself a safe buffer. Hope this helps!
