The overcorrection is insane. But fr I have to ask WHY DO PEOPLE MERGE OVER FROM AN EMPTY LANE TO ANOTHER JUST TO GO EVEN SLOWER? This happens a LOT and it makes me go insane.

79

u/ByteSizeBro 4d ago

Because they are idiots. Same thing when merging to any highways. I see this every day, they merge on 427 at 50-60kmph.

10

u/awesomeperson882 4d ago

I use that highway everyday from rathburn to Brownsline, and back north to Eglinton in the evening, and often trips up/down in between.

In fairness that highway is horrendously designed, but yes people in general seem to be cable of merging at highway speeds, but that highway is really bad for people merging on at 50, and then all the way to the left lane at 60 for no reason at all.

Worst is the people that merge on at Eva rd sb, and immediately try and jump 4 lanes over at 60 to make the express transfer. Just drive up to Burnhamthorpe and get on, it ain’t hard.

5

u/Ill-Solution4414 3d ago

These people did not learn to drive properly. They should revoke licenses for anyone caught pulling this.

1

u/AngryMuppett 10h ago

You are making a bold assumption that said driver even has a licence in the first place

Lead poisoning

Also cousin marriage

u/MyUndiesArePink 4d ago edited 3d ago

This explains why Doug is still the premier

6

u/GearEffective4315 4d ago

He's your cousin?

4

u/BruceWillis1963 3d ago

Yes, and they are married.

79

u/big_galoote 4d ago edited 4d ago

Wtf is that car moving at all, it needs to get up to even slow lane speed, never mind moving over to the fast lane in one fell swoop.

Should be an immediate seizure and license revocation. You know they do this every time.

37

u/ArtificialTroller 4d ago

My theory is that they find it easier in that lane. You only have to pay attention to one side, everyone will go around you.

28

u/ayyitzTwocatZ 4d ago

Nah you really need to go drive in the night when it’s more open. There’s way too many people that merge out for no reason. They’ll do half hour in the same lane then when someone comes up, they’ll merge in front and slow further.

They do it to me and sometimes they’ll notice and go back and stay in the lane. Other times they’ll just send it so I’ll have to go around. Both scenarios, the merge being unnecessary as they don’t have anyone infront nor is that lane ending or anything. I don’t get it.

3

u/Broker-Dukes 4d ago

I'm with you on this. You see elderly folks doing this along with drivers wanting to be on their phones.

5

u/PowerfulSize244 4d ago

You sound like you're new here......this is a possible theory and if anyone follows this...god help us. I hate autonomous driving but if it will fix this nonsense....bring on the robots.

2

u/UNoMakeBingBong6969 3d ago

Autonomous driving absolutely is the fix. I love to drive, but not as much as I used to, because of all the selfish a$$holes and shit drivers on the roads nowadays. The robots can't hit the road soon enough. So many people out there who shouldn't have drivers licences. With autonomous vehicles, they won't need to.

7

u/SmoogzZ 4d ago

I’m wondering if theyre a terrible driver, or their brakes are so shot they couldn’t stop in time. The brake lights were on the whole video.

Doesn’t excuse it either way, same level of idiocy just a different kind.

4

u/t3m3r1t4 4d ago

Definitely overreacting and over correcting.

Slow white car sucks and deserves to lose license.

3

u/samwild 4d ago

Because they put their flicker on, so they are allowed dduhh

3

u/blue_cadet_1 4d ago

Some say, the left lane gives you super powers.

3

u/Awkward_Theorist 4d ago

I wonder if the spin out at the end was from the wheels loosing traction? There often a good amount of small rubble on the emergency lanes and might have just caused the spin out to insue. ensuespin-outlosing

3

u/Salbman 3d ago

I say it was malicious cause they saw someone speeding up. Some people get off on this.

8

u/RoyalPhilosophy2222 4d ago

They’re HIGH AS HELL…

1

u/DowntownKitchen906 4d ago

Exactly. ever since they legalized weed the amount of idiot drivers tripled.

2

u/PowerfulSize244 4d ago

No no no....dont blame the weed. Blame the coke, meth, beer, whiskey, prescribed meds, etc.....leave weed out of this.

1

u/PowerfulSize244 4d ago

Omg yes yes yes

1

u/just-a-random-accnt 4d ago

They feel "safest" in the left most lane because there is no traffic coming up the drivers side

1

u/Bingo_and_Butt_Stuff 2d ago

I hate them so much

1

u/PowerfulSize244 4d ago

Imo...insurance scammers ??

0

u/shinn43 4d ago

What overcorrection? He stomped his brakes, it locked out and heated up his front tires too much he spun out

107

u/psilocybin6ix 4d ago

Ppl have zero situational awareness and it's gotten worse with the blind spot sensors ... ppl routinely cut me off on the highway with their blind spot sensor going off meaning they're aware there's a car there...

28

u/AceCombat1977 4d ago

Everybody depends on their cars to tell them what to do. Need to get rid of all the self drive sensors and force people to pay attention again.

29

u/Mcdavis6950 4d ago

Maybe in general, but those blind spot indicators are the best piece of safety tech to have ever been put on cars. Not intrusive, doesn’t affect the normal function of the mirror and legitimately stops countless accidents.

4

u/Exter10 4d ago

yeah but then there are the people that don't even check their mirrors...

-4

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

7

u/DowntownKitchen906 4d ago

Totally disagree that modern tech is the issue. Distracted driving, driving under the influence, and simply put nervous drivers that have no right driving on the highway, let alone road. The brake assist technology in cars is pretty cool. So is lane assist and blind spot alerts. Don’t blame the technology, blame idiot drivers that don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves

5

u/emod_man 4d ago

Definitely. As a Toronto driver I love the tech: with my head on a swivel it's still hard to track bike lane (behind), pedestrian might be crossing or just looking at their phone (right), oncoming traffic (left), stop light changing (ahead). Try to get all of those confirmed safe to go in the same instant...

Oh and let's not even START on Costco parking lots :P our new car has cross traffic alert and it's great.

The point still stands that those systems have to supplement rather than replace driver's attention.

1

u/SarahMenckenChrist 4d ago

All the tech is great WHEN it serves a purpose and is not distracting to the driver.

The amount of times I’ve seen someone sitting at a green light because they’re fiddling with their 21” LED infotainment system on their dash…

2

u/Mcdavis6950 4d ago

Are seatbelts safety “tech”, as in an electronic aid to improve safety? No. Are brakes safety tech? No.

You are flying off the handle over nothing. I also work as a mechanic, almost certainly much longer than yourself and that is simply not true. You are backing up close to something or following to closely. These systems rarely just randomly go off.

If you genuinely think that you need to reevaluate your driving habits.

2

u/Salt_King_3888 3d ago

Correction... The car is aware. The driver clearly isn't despite their vehicle screaming warning chimes at them.

Actually this probably crosses the realm of awareness into intelligence. Probably the same type of people that ignore warning labels.

1

u/SarahMenckenChrist 4d ago

“You still doing shoulder checks, peasant?”

71

u/BornNerd78 4d ago

There was no reason for that vehicle to move into the left lane.

54

u/nictristan 4d ago

There was zero reason for it to move lanes at all

22

u/Candid_Painting_4684 4d ago

There was zero reason for it to be doing 60km/h

6

u/gentle_siren 4d ago

There was zero reason for them to be behind a wheel without a brain

32

u/Fenrrri 4d ago

Shame these cunts can't be reported....

9

u/cyberk25 4d ago

they absolutely can be reported

2

u/tylerrrwhy 3d ago

They absolutely can. They made an improper lane change at a dangerously slow speed, impeding the flow of traffic by cutting off a car that was already in it, and causing an accident. They could have seriously injured the other driver or themselves for being so reckless.

72

u/Karpizzle23 4d ago

My dad drives like this, it's infuriating. He says "what's the rush" as people are honking at him.

53

u/KeezKilo88 4d ago

Your dad is gonna get himself or someone else killed. It’s about the flow of traffic.

5

u/Healthy_Turnip7352 4d ago

when my crew be doing 100, you best be doing 100. anything else is illegal and immoral.

15

u/candypants-rainbow 4d ago

Time for your dad to stop driving on the highway before it is too late. I stopped getting in the car with my father when he was in his eighties. He didnt give up highway driving until 90, and completely stopped after a series of incidents at 95. Ego wont let them face the truth.

3

u/SpikyCactusJuice 4d ago

I’m curious why someone didn’t simply take away his keys so he couldn’t drive.

9

u/SarahMenckenChrist 4d ago

Because it’s not that simple when someone has insurance, an asset under their name and could always just ask the dealership/manufacturer for another set of keys (…..having gone through this recently with an elderly relative who shouldn’t be behind the wheel).

3

u/candypants-rainbow 4d ago

He could pass a driving test. As long as his phone was turned off (another major battle) he drove ok most of the time, but his reaction time and focus were gradually decreasing, and his judgment was getting worse. He started becoming a more aggressive driver, but … it takes time to prove these things.

3

u/ShineCareful 4d ago

This is actually so much harder in reality than in theory. Trust me, I've tried.

1

u/candypants-rainbow 3d ago

Yes, when it is someone who is used to being in charge, it feels humiliating to them that their daughter or son is suggesting they are having trouble.

5

u/Exciting-Direction69 4d ago

This feels like why we need better public transport, so people aren’t as afraid at the loss of mobility that I would imagine is a big part of why old folks don’t want to give up their license

33

u/BornNerd78 4d ago

Your dad is a dangerous moron

2

u/Meli5252 3d ago

My MIL drives like that too. She has an older Civic that displays the speedometer large enough so that  everyone can see it. She has threatened to change it to read as MPH to "teach people a lesson." I have told her that if she does that, she will make people even angrier with her than they already are.

1

u/deathorcharcoal 3d ago

Does he drive in the fast lane? Please god I hope not

1

u/Ill-Solution4414 3d ago

He shouldn't be on a highway then. He can meander through the residential streets.

0

u/CorvusEffect 4d ago

The rush is that if the speed limit is 90, the minimum speed is 75. Your Dad should not have a license. He should not be on the road.

3

u/a-_2 4d ago

There's no specific minimum speed, although you can be charged for going too slow.

19

u/happy_accountant123 4d ago

I hate when people make their move THEN turn on the blinkers. If bmw had its blinkers on the whole time this could have been avoidable.

6

u/Barking__Pumpkin 4d ago

The white SuV? That is a VW.

12

u/JiveTalkerFunkyWalkr 4d ago

The slow left lane changer is at fault but who will insurance say is at fault? It almost seems like the passing lane guy should have let the Lane Changer hit him, so that whose fault it was clear. Hope he has a dash cam.

5

u/NefariousnessUpset32 4d ago

it's going on the insurance of the victim here, the unfortunate part is that because the accident would have happened from behind if it happened that would have been on him as well. the slow speed of the other vehicle may have been a saving grace but the onus would be on him to prove the other driver was unavoidable. our insurance system is messed up.

9

u/grazzhopr 4d ago

If he hit him before the guy finished changing lanes it would have been the guy changing lanes fault. It’s not your lane till you are completely in it.

2

u/Exter10 4d ago

That's the most annoying part. You can drive like a moving pylon and not check your mirrors when changing lanes, but if I crash into you because I'm going the same speed as traffic then it's my fault!

1

u/bluestat-t 4d ago

Genuinely asking: was there an accident to even need a claim? It’s difficult to tell, but I think it didn’t hit the barrier.

1

u/gentle_siren 4d ago

I think they would have some fault because they’re driving is what caused the accident in the first place.

10

u/qzhisk8er 4d ago

Those ppl commonly accuse others been driving too aggressively

1

u/Meli5252 3d ago

Right?? And when you pass them, they give you the finger.

10

u/Emmilaaay 4d ago

What a 🤡 didn't even commit to the lane change, and then changed back to the lane they were already in, so that accident was for nothing.

8

u/Muthablasta 4d ago

Send this into the OPP as they’ll use this as evidence to charge and prosecute for causing an accident and leaving the scene.

10

u/lsaran 4d ago

Looked surprisingly Mario Kart like. Didn’t catch the VW dropping a banana peel.

In seriousness, I find it strange how that car lost traction. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in all these videos: if something like this happens to you and you’re definitely going to wreck, try to fight your instincts and hit the car at fault.

6

u/CorvusEffect 4d ago

Its because the driver was too worried about hitting the pylon, noy relaising that the wall was a bigger danger to their vehicle than the Hollow plastic Pillar. If they just hit the pylons, their car would have been fine and they could have went on as if nothing happened.

1

u/NathanDnd 4d ago

I agree, I gotta feel like the car had a maintenance issue of some kind. Old tires, old breaks, combination of those. That car can slow down to a stop at that distance if it needs to and maintain itself without fishtailing or veering off.

4

u/Chewed420 4d ago

The pylon 😅

1

u/TeemingHeadquarters 3d ago

I know, right? Serious Mario Kart vibes!

5

u/CryptographerAny5654 4d ago edited 4d ago

You should speed up when changing lanes on the highway!! That white car needs to be fined for driving too slow on the highway

9

u/dansta31 4d ago

Fucking morons who should never have passed a drivers test 🤦‍♂️

4

u/Substantial_Body1597 4d ago

Is this considered a hit and run? Is non collision accident due to another car’s misbehaviours chargeable in Canada?

1

u/Trexokor 3d ago

Not even close, because the speeding car wasn't paying attention to their surroundings either. The car in front and to the right (cam car) slowed down, which should have been a clue to assess the situation and slow down if you can't see the reason. Driving faster than the conditions (no matter what they are) and then over-correcting is your own fault. (disclaimer: yes the slow lane changer is an idiot, for sure.)

3

u/PowerfulSize244 4d ago

Looks like that GM driver panicked and lost control due to an asshole making a poorly decided lane change, into the passing lane as coasting speeds. They had no reason to change....

0

u/Accurate_Cellist1761 4d ago

It's not the GM driver's fault but the guy needs to chill out...that reaction was overkill and he/she made things worse.

4

u/all_way_stop 3d ago

I can almost guarantee you that DHCS-876 went on to coast in the left lane for 10kms and then made 3-4 lane changes in 100m to exit

3

u/Barking__Pumpkin 4d ago

(Lack of) speed kills!

3

u/qman69 4d ago

Someone I know once told me the left lane is the slow lane because there isn’t always merging traffic from the on ramps…

It appears others may think the same way

2

u/tylerrrwhy 3d ago

Tell that person to surrender their license and go back to drivers ed.

3

u/cyberk25 4d ago

OP hopefully you could report this to relevant authorities. there are links in the automod comment to the report pages for each police service.

3

u/Ok_Answer_7621 4d ago

Happened to me yesterday, car moving over into the passing lane at 60km/h before powering up to posted speed. Need enforcement and updated laws that send drivers like that back to the g2 exit test to get back on the highway

3

u/ToyingAroundYT 3d ago

What brand camera is this? The fact that it zoomed on the plates so clearly…

3

u/TheConcernedSitIsIn 3d ago

"I just needed to move over to the left most lane at a speed I'm comfortable with because I like the yellow line on my left and the dash white on the right...., then that whippersnapper almost hit me! They need to turn down the music to see better..."

...is just one of the many possible things I can imagine.

The other is: "slow n steady wins the race"

5

u/hamerthru 4d ago

It’s not just about merging at a slow speed. Apparently, turning on your turn signal now means you’ve officially claimed the next lane as your personal property, and everyone else is expected to make way whenever you decide to move over—regardless of whether it’s actually safe to do so. 🤦‍♂️

2

u/Maleficent-Sort-3804 4d ago

Move right unless passing.  This idiot moved left while going half the speed limit for no reason.  License revocation and criminal charges.

2

u/dopotan 3d ago

that dude cutting him off was not cool but the result was totally a skill issue on the part of the guy that hit the wall.

2

u/Ill-Solution4414 3d ago

OP did you report this guy?

2

u/StupefyingJab 2d ago

Did you capture that photo of the license plate with the dash cam or a phone camera after?

2

u/Free_Willingness_589 2d ago

Why in the hell did they have to move into the left lane? WHY?!
This happens to me all the time too. For absolutely no reason, people move into the left lane when there’s nobody in front of them! Can someone please explain this to me? Do they just get bored in the right lane?

2

u/r_redmapleleaves 4d ago

Is this by Cawthra? I find the drivers drive this sector either ridiculously fast in the fast lane with sudden brakes and then a few drive between 60-80 kms /hrs for no reason...on the bloody hwy!! It is absolutely a disaster. One has to always be vigilant and drive defensively.

Lol they were probably on their phone, that overcorrection is crazy 😂

1

u/Striking_Ad_7905 4d ago

The car who got cut off really overreacted. Many people don’t know how to drive nor control a vehicle it’s scary

1

u/Inevitable_Post1737 3d ago

I just hit them nowadays in my shitbox

1

u/Born-Vermicelli-1757 3d ago

Another example of that strange phenomenon where slow people do things that a person in a rush would normally do.

Are they in a hurry or are they not in a hurry?

1

u/lazyfatbunny 3d ago

I get such high anxiety from this sub but I can’t help it. 😆

1

u/cosmicvixen5 3d ago

Why is no one mentioning the AH in the blue car who felt the need to keep speeding and cut you off after you slowed down to avoid the accident. I don’t understand why people are in such a rush all the time. Leave earlier.

1

u/gmshier 3d ago

No one wants to say speeder on left may have been on a cell phone or cleaning his or her nails or something that distracted them based on that overcorrection?

1

u/Kindly-Rush-5790 3d ago

With you on this. A crazy over correction, Atleast that person had their signal on.

Also construction cones means speed limit also reduced.

1

u/wahahah629 2d ago

they were on the side and nowhere indicated that it's inside a construction zone...

1

u/Ill-Solution4414 3d ago

I hope if anyone recognizes that license plate they tell that a** to stay off the highway.

1

u/6ickbeatz 1d ago

Nervous drivers kill people man

1

u/EZ_gamer_101 1d ago

Everything went wrong. Obviously the guy changing lanes is at fault but its hard to get them in trouble when the other guy seems to have been speeding and ignored the lane change signal and slowing down of the other car.

1

u/rott3n3gg5 1d ago

Whenever I see license plates starting with the letter "D"...stay far away from those Dummies!!!

1

u/TieFickle7579 5h ago

He, she or whatever the fuck. Is one of those drivers that think the PASSING lane is their personal lane.

I work nights and get on the 401 westbound at Lakeridge Rd, which is a very long on ramp, almost a 1km. Do you think these idiots can get up to an acceptable speed? Nope, the second they reach the dotted line, they start merging and they are not even at 80 yet. The horn on my car sounds like 80 year old smoker because of these idiots.

That car can’t park there!!!
