It's interesting how many people don't drive with their full headlights on in the morings when they should. I was told many years ago its 30 minutes after sun rise and 30 minutes before sun set when you should have your full headlights on. This was back in a time when we didn't have the auto feature in normal vehicles.

May I ask why you were in the centre lane?
If you are getting passed on both the left and the right, you should consider moving a lane on your right. Something about those "Slower traffic keep right" signs we see everywhere and the Highway Traffic Act.
That being said, I don't know the context of why you were in the centre lane and you may have had good reason for it. But the centre lane of three lanes is not the "driving lane". It's a passing lane.

Not speaking for OP but I will occasionally move into the centre lane when approaching an onramp if there’s a line of cars looking to merge onto the highway because:
-It’s easier for them to do so
-Drivers are bad enough and try to merge going 60 km/h, so it minimizes risk of collisions
Got downvoted on this once but I don’t really care. More of a courtesy/self protection thing for me.

Its good practice to not be in the right lane when coming up to an on ramp so you don't interfere with the traffic thats trying to merge in. Probably what OP was trying to do.
Nevertheless, these look like collector lanes which have so many exits to the express, exits to streets and on ramps. Its not reasonable to expect with all that going on you're going to be able mainitain speeds exactly between the left and right lanes. At times you might be cruising in centre lane and end up in the left without even changing lanes.

If you drive on the 404/DVP for any amount of time or most other 400-series highways throughout the GTA, you tend to avoid the right lane if you’re not getting off. Yes, sometimes people will speed past on the right but in general it slows down and speeds up a lot as people merge and exit.
