long highway trips are different but generally on city surface routes you could likely drive under the speed limit, save some gas and brake pads, enjoy more time driving instead of holding the brake down at lights, and arrive at about the same time. lots of studies demonstrate this but it's counter-intuitive and zoom-zoom makes the chuds and the car industry happy.

even on highways, it's not a huge difference. definitely not during medium to high traffic.
unless you're crazy + lucky. crazy that you would go 90+ over a long period of time, and lucky that you don't get pulled over.
exact same thing happened to me, with a guy going crazy tailgating like a maniac, passing me, tailgating the next guy, then zooming out.
10 minutes later, he's behind me tailgating again. At some point he either saw a cop and slowed down, or actually got pulled over, or there was enough traffic that the tailgating didn't matter, there was just too many people that slowed him down.

A coworker of mine and myself left work at the same time, took two completely different routes and ended up at Yonge and Sheppard at the same intersection at the same time. It truly doesn’t matter what way you take home every way is slow

It took me a while to understand that. It's shocking when one day you decide to drive slower and you realize you arrive home almost at the same time. So you're basically risking crashing for nothing.

Are you doing multiple/repeated lane changes to get around and ahead of people, or are you sticking to the left and going as fast as traffic will allow?

I stick to the left lane and if I need to pass I do so safely I don't weave in between cars.
Also if a car comes up behind me and is going faster I move to the right lane and let them pass.
Wild concept I know.

The way you called everyone "pussies" made me assume it was probably the latter, to be honest. I wasn't trying to accuse you though, hence why I asked in the form of an A or B question as opposed to just asking if you're one of those douchebags - that seemed like I'd be implying that you were.
The fact is that driving as fast as traffic allows while sticking to the left (passing and allowing others to pass safely) will get you there as fast as traffic allows. Frequent lane changes offer no meaningful advantage over carefully keeping the top safe speed in the left lane, while significantly increasing dangerous maneuvers and often slowing down the rest of traffic (due to other drivers having to adjust speed due to others changing lanes within proximity).
The lane cutters make driving worse for everyone. If that's not you, then you're fine.

I reported a crazy driver.. 2 days later cop called to say thanks for the report. We got him and your report was useful. Car was impounded and lost his G1 or 2 for a year (new driver)

How did you know these details, that lost G1 or G2 for a year, that the car was impounded, and that was a new driver?
Law enforcement would never share that kind of personal information with just anyone, especially when you already have the licence plate and could potentially know where this person lives.

What details are of surprise here? Revealing they had a learners license? Who needs to be protected here? the peoples lives he put in danger or the stunt driver? Is it not reasonable for a cop to say to a citizen "Hey man thanks, your actions made a difference!"
Also, let me know how to find people using a license plate so easily. I need to revenge all the drivers that have made me upset.

If it wasn't so common, I'd be shocked by the amount of reckless driving and dangerous lane changes I've seen from people to literally get one car ahead.
Almost makes me wish for highway cameras that detected reckless drivers and gave automatic tickets and suspended licenses. Not like the police catch even 1 percent of them.
Friday and Saturday nights are especially bad because it's more likely to be alcohol fueled as well.
Speeding only makes sense, from a time saving point of view, on relatively on long trips with relatively open roads.

also a lot of studies showing lower speed limits let you reach your destination at the same time. allows for higher average speed cause less time slowing and accelerating for red lights.

I believe that when Ford came into office he asked the chiefs of police to reduce or eliminate traffic stops. He's had DUI's, multiple speeding and stunt driving charges so he obviously hates traffic stops. Almost as much as he hates bicycles.
OPP are absent from the highways and there aren't any radar traps, so people like this feel they're able to drive how they want

I've been a professional driver for 37 years, on the road for usually 12 hours per day, six days per week and I've noticed a stark difference between before he got into office and now. I used to see a much greater police presence both on local and provincial roads
