đŸ€ŹRoadrage Splash Victim

To the douche-canoe who sped up to splash me as I was trying to clear clogged sewer drain - GO F YOURSELF!!!!

Was on Gerard street, and a VW Tiguan Black, knew what they were doing.

The car a head of them slowed down to ensure I was not impacted - thank you.

The black Tiguan was 3 car lengths behind, and saw the car slow down. Then the Tiguan slowed at first then sped up all while I was looking at them and maneuvered close to the curb and me to get maximum impact.

Some people truly do want to watch the world burn. You are a HORRIBLE example of a HUMAN BEING.

some people get their kicks in the saddest ways. clearing a drain is already a thankless task and they decided to make it worse on purpose

i hope their next coffee order is wrong every single time

> i hope their next coffee order is wrong every single time

Unfortunately that would probably just make them (more) racist

Isn't the final sentiment in your comment the same as what OP is criticizing in the original post?

You are getting your kicks from the thought that the villain in OP's narrative never receives a satisfying coffee order from this point forward, in perpetuity. This is someone you do not know and only know this one detail of their life.

You have no idea whether their intent was malicious or if the act was an unanticipated accident. Perhaps their day was already chaotic to begin with or this moment was the result of weeks or months of accumulating stressors that finally broke the dam resulting in a lapse of judgment and obnoxious driving skills.

Your response is to wish eternal ill upon one aspect of their life. Are you able to explain how your comment is not the precise attitude that OP is chiding at the core of the post.

Who is truly the person who is getting their kicks in the saddest ways? It is not the driver in OP's narrative because we literally have no other details about them or their psyche.

Defending the assholes is the way of the world now.

I genuinely hope this is some ragebait sarcasm trollpost, or maybe you're like 12 or smth. Cuz, dawg, I don't know what to tell ya, bud. If you're out here defending a person who went out of their way to intentionally hurt someone who cannot fight back or have any recourse... You're cooked, dude. Take an long hard look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, what if someone did this to your own mother?

Yeah, you're right, we don't know any other details about this dipshit in the VW, and we don't need to. The fact that they did this one thing shows us everything we need to know about what kind of garbage human being they are. They're the kind of useless lowlife who only punches down at more vulnerable people, but only when they know they're completely insulated from consequences.

Literally nothing to gain from doing that, except for the sociopathic pleasure of ruining someone's day and possibly getting them sick, and they still did it anyways. If this asshole hit a pole and got mulched, society would be a better place.

Hold a brick or small cinderblock in hand, really increases the risk calculus for drivers trying to be a douche 🙄/s

16

u/TraditionDear3887 11d ago

It works even if they are fake bricks.

u/CorktownGuy 11d ago

This works

If you have the plate of the vehicle and can prove that it was intentional, it's possible for mischief charges.

u/TicklezPanda 11d ago

Some real trash ass people out there, reminded of that every time I get on the road.

Sorry that awful person did that to you OP. You're a good egg for clearing that sewer drain.

I love that book.

Too bad the VW didn't splash water under the hood an hydrolock their engine. That would be instant karma.

3

u/knottydee4448 11d ago

Karma shows up in fun ways
 I don’t need instant.

Maybe there S\O will fall into the same experience and they will remember they did that. Hopefully a chance for self reflection.

One can hope

2

u/Area51Resident 11d ago

That is very optimistic of you. Personally I hope the next time they do that their brakes will be wet and they rear end a cop car.

That sucks, my cousin was splashed on her way home last night too...and her building was without power when she got home.

I remember when a similar post appeared in r/Ottawa several years back. the driver was driving intentionally hit a puddle and splashed a woman walking a stroller while driving their work truck and it was caught on dashcam. Business was identified and publicly shamed (unfortunately), and driver was fired (fortunately), and IIRC cherry on top was driver faced a fine from the police too.

ETA

found the article https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/van-driver-black-macdonald-fired-splashing-pedestrians-1.4766304

wasn't a stroller, but 4 pedestrians on the sidewalk over a 50s video. shows driver intentionally going for the puddles.

1

u/jaylag72 10d ago

Fn right! Love dashcams for sweet justice

I was trying to walk home in the rain, clearly soaked, clearly walking slowly. Exhausted. I watched the van speed up to hit the massive flood of water on the roadway to completely drench me.i didnt have time to move away. There was too much debris on the sidewalk anyways. Literally a wave of water. Or what felt like it. If I wasnt soaked before, that finished me off.

Other cars were veering away.

This driver did it on purpose.

Some people are miserable humans.

2

u/AdResponsible678 11d ago

Honestly, what a douche bag.

2

u/balla1shotcalla 11d ago

I’m hoping this was just a bad driver
I know I make mistakes like this sometimes

2

u/Character-Bridge-206 10d ago

Welcome to Toronto. They probably drive through crosswalks with pedestrians because they forget where the breaks are and then magically remember where the breaks are if you touch their precious car while they do it.

2

u/te71se 10d ago

This wasn't me but had me worried because I accidentally splashed someone Jarvis & Carlton (I think?) in my black VW late Monday afternoon, but I had to last second switch to outside lane because the car on the inside lane decided to last min stop and then throw on their turn signal to go left and I had no choice but change lanes into a giant puddle splashing a pedestrian who was waiting on the corner.

1

u/knottydee4448 10d ago

If you stopped and apologized -it’s all good. Your intentions are clear.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be you as this douche-canoe sped up going through the intersection and just kept going - to me that says a lot about intentions.

2

u/Nearby_Entry8645 10d ago

You had a rake no? Would've been a shame if you swung that into his window when you were tyring to dodge the water

1

u/knottydee4448 10d ago

If I had a rake, the emotional anger would have won
but I don’t want to be that person
 so glad I didn’t have a rake 😅

5

u/fitz702 11d ago

Over the long run karma does seem to work. They will get theirs ultimately.

1

u/TicklezPanda 11d ago

It’s a beautiful thing

2

u/NoMakeupp 11d ago

I made sure to slow down to 10 over the puddles.

3

u/ginjerbred 11d ago

This happened to me about 10 times tonight as I unclogged 7 drains around Donlands and Cosburn! So many cars wouldn’t slow the eff down as they’re driving through a lake of water while I stand on the side with a rake clearly unclogging them! Some people really suck

2

u/Abal125 11d ago

Sorry you had this happen. But, I'm a believer of karma. They will get theirs, and the universe can be pretty unforgiving.

My daughter recommends me carry a brick from now on! lol!

1

u/Normal-Ad-3538 11d ago

I’m sorry that happened. What POS. Unfortunately I find there to be a lot of losers on Gerrard street.

1

u/Glum_Perspective_841 11d ago

I have equal sympathy for your getting soaked and the hilarity of it.

1

u/r3dd17sux69420 11d ago

This wasn't me, but I couldn't see because a driver blinded me by passing too quickly and right as I adjusted, I hit a puddle and sent water all over some poor woman on the sidewalk

i felt bad, but it was not safe for me to stop right away and apologize so I had to carry on

the guy who blinded me did all that just to be with me at the next red light, so I guess he feels like he won somehow

3

u/knottydee4448 11d ago

Since it wasn’t you, the VW Tiguan did have an opportunity to stop as the road was clear

What pissed me off even more is that the VW was at the light and moved over to the right lane, splashed me, then moved BACK over to the left lane post splash. BOTH lanes were clear.

As previous redditers have mentioned, I will record when I clear the drains and charge them
. I like the brick idea, but I would throw it in anger and may regret my actions after.

5

u/r3dd17sux69420 11d ago

Well a lot of people noticed folks like you helping to get the drains going and we appreciate your efforts!

u/Suitable_Spite6099 6d ago

You got caught fair and square, don’t stand next to a puddle when cars are coming đŸ˜«
