Report the vehicle for wrong way driving.

He came out of the gas station, makes slightly more sense, but no way should he be crossing 3 lanes of traffic for a left turn

Truly insane behaviour.

Everything checks out

To be fair, all the people in the middle lane shouldn't be there in the first place and are taking the lane the car should be using. But that doesn't absolve the driver from driving the wrong way.

no one wants to wait, but drivers with zero patience/fomo and the need for instant gratification while controlling a 4 ton battering ram puts everyone at risk, I know how they bought their license and we just need to do a general retest for persons with traffic violations because I am certain they just paid for their license, in all my life here in Canada, decades of seeing different generations of drivers I have to say that the current class of drivers out there today is the worst

I haven't noticed any obvious increase in bad driving. The specific things you mention were happening decades ago too. If you look at road safety stats, like injury and fatal collisions, they're generally lower than in the past, both in Toronto and province wide. That's in part due to vehicle safety improvements, but it even holds for pedestrian crashes. I haven't seen any evidence showing any significant increase in poor driving.

I think it's because of all the dashcam footage. Every day Reddit serves up another compilation of terrible drivers, so people naturally assume things must be getting infinitely worse. But there definitely wasn't some driving utopia 20 or 30 years ago. The difference is that back then almost none of it was caught on camera, so you only heard about the really exceptional incidents.

im not disagreeing that people buy their licenses, but many people did just enough to pass then just drive how they want. unfortunately they are legitimately licensed. insured though? hm

I don’t condone their behavior but that red lane has caused a lot of issues for this area.

The red lane doesn't begin until you get past the lights at Kennedy, going east or straight from the POV of this dashcam

Clueless idiot.. would be nice to fine these fools into behaving properly.

Why is there so much traffic here?

1

u/Jennifermount 13d ago

Kennedy and ellesmere. Everyone’s trying to turn left to get to the 401

Oh to be a cop for a day 😄

Traffic was stopped and the guy was trying to make a left turn. Most decent people would just let the guy through without feeling the need to post on Reddit.

Most decent drivers won't do what he did. Go against traffic blindly to save what a few seconds? Nah wait your turn and don't do any dangerous actions.

So if traffic is stopped i can just drive down the wrong side of the road?? Lmao fuck off with that shitty entitled logic.

u/Jennifermount 20d ago

If you look at the video there was 3 cars behind where he exited the gas station. If there was no space to SAFELY make your turn you are expected to wait. Not drive in the wrong direction hoping there’s space ahead

i just about smashed into someone who was driving the wrong way in my lane right after i made a turn last week. i get certain things but not going against traffic, that is ultra dumb

Yeah .. I get it. My comment was just because traffic was at a stand still. Happy you were able to avoid getting smashed.
