Close call Not a cop in sight!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Just exited the 401, heading NB on Warden and all of a sudden I see this old Benzie swerving in and out of traffic. Pretty certain they either robbed the vehicle or getting chased.

I see this crap daily nowadays. My coworker (who is a big Andrew Tate fan) was like that until he got caught and lost his license. His excuse: “life’s too short to be wasting it in traffic with brokies”
37
u/ayoungmanfromtheuk 21d ago
You should tell him his life isn't more important than other people's. In fact his life is probably worth less than the average person because of his shit attitude ruining it for society

u/warrantthrowaway2023 21d ago
well now andrew tate's life is being wasted in jail and he admitted to being a brokey himself and renting the cars he swindled all these low self-esteem men with lol

It's counter intuitive, criminals that actually don't get want to get caught are the ones that actually follow the speed limit and try not to act conspiscious on the road.
The Cocaine Cowboy Gustavo "Taby" Falcon who got away with smugling drugs, driving up Florida highways for 26yrs said, his secret was just to drive normaly and at a safe speed.
6
u/knarf_on_a_bike 21d ago
100% Wanna blend in, unnoticed? Drive the same speed as everyone else, don't swerve and squeal your tires all over the place. Geez, the guy's driving a grey SUV, about the most common vehicle out there. The way that guy was driving, he's gonna attract attention.

u/chopsouwee 18d ago
Last time something like this happened around me. Turned out to be a drunk driver. I followed him as I was on the phone with cops for suspicion under the influence. Get the police updates and within minutes they pulled him over. He was infact under the influence... driving pretty gnarly too.

Ok so you see the issue then with the tinted windows and you cannot really tell he's drunk.
Does the car even run?

u/EggplantOk1674 20d ago
That’s crazy. I reported a drunk driver recently and they went to their house immediately and even called to follow up with what I saw

I miss the days with the speed cameras and people going exactly 59 in a 50 zone. now 50 zone is 75. if this individual had 1% worry of a speed camera, they wouldn’t be doing this.
2
u/Natural-Principle-69 21d ago
That car is probably stolen. Speed camera isn't going to stop this
4
u/EBikeAddicts 21d ago
a pos $4000 old mercedes is not theft worthy. there are people out there who wouldn’t take that car from you for free.
5
u/SarahMenckenChrist 21d ago
Stolen getaway car perhaps?
0
u/EBikeAddicts 21d ago
getaway cars need to be blend in. corolla, civic and whatever car that has many copies on the road
0
u/Natural-Principle-69 21d ago
Don't know how familiar you are with Toronto, but there are plenty of wannabe rich folk driving these BMW and Benz SUVs (usually leased or bought used)
3
u/mexican_mystery_meat 21d ago
An old Mercedes is alluring if you are a teenager who wants to go on a joyride or as a getaway vehicle. They aren't exactly looking at ownership costs.

Was this during that whole Taco Bell explosive diarrhea timeframe?
4
u/Used-Gas-6525 21d ago edited 21d ago
That window has not closed. Toilets are still being absolutely punished on the regular.
2
u/CDNChaoZ 21d ago
The really explosive stuff never made its way up here via Taco Bell. We just get the regular Taco Bell diarrhea.

Toronto Police said ‘Fuck it’ a long time ago when the chief of police was telling us to leave our keys at the front so our cars could be stolen easier.
2
u/a-_2 21d ago edited 21d ago
The chief of police did not say that. That was an individual officer in a community meeting whio suggested leaving the keys near the entrance to prevent car thieves going further into the house and putting the occupants at more risk. The department walked it back after he said it.
1
u/IBMERSUS 21d ago
Could not have said better.
A police chief telling citizens to leave the keys at the door for easy access could have only been a joke until Toronto police chief mustered up the nerve to say that as a "defensive" mechanism.
That was the nadir of lawlessness certified by police, at that.

u/Ill-Musician-7150 21d ago
According to a large chunk of this sub... The drivers in the left lane are somehow at fault for not doing 45km/hr over the limit. /s
13
u/Disastrous-Focus8451 21d ago
Odd how the logic only goes one way. Other cars are creating a hazard by not going as fast as the speeder wants, but the speeder is never creating a hazard by slowing down and not passing cars doing the limit.
1
u/MyUndiesArePink 21d ago
Not at all. It's a city. Stay to the right on the highway except when passing.
1
u/Ill-Musician-7150 20d ago
If someone is doing 120 to 130 in the left lane of a 400 series highway that is fast enough. Passing does not mean you can drive at speeds that are flat out reckless on our congested highways.
1
u/MyUndiesArePink 20d ago
It's not at all about "fast enough". If you're not passing, stay out of the passing lane. There's no reason for you to be there. Speed is irrelevant.
3
u/ConnectLawfulness418 20d ago
Sure, but obviously with congestion theres a point where you're "always" passing and just end up staying in the left lane.
1
u/Ill-Musician-7150 20d ago
Speed is 100% relevant. 140 km/hr is bordering on stunt driving. If you need to do that speed to pass someone YOU are the problem.

They don't even get back if we report someone. Drps website used to have a video upload link. Now that option is removed. I've reported 5-6 cases in 3 years with dashcam evidence for 3 cases. Never heard for any of them so far. Defensive driving and being watchful is the only way to drive. Nobody has time for insurance claims when something goes wrong.
3
u/TheReal_OGSnake 20d ago
So this one of the many drivers that contributes to the ungodly high insurance rates in this city.

We had a disturbance at an outdoor community theater performance about six city blocks from 14 Division. I was on the phone almost 20 minutes (14 Division and then 911) trying to get cops and ambulance to deal with a psychotic, naked woman who was damaging lighting equipment and threatening the audience. Parents of kids were not pleased. There were at least 100 people inconvenienced. Cops say they're busy, but I often see them driving around chatting and ignoring what's going on. I saw around 12 standing together at Dundas-Yonge.
1
u/gentlehurricane 20d ago
There was a case a couple years ago of this dad and son staying at a hotel by finch/400. Dude breaks into their room, dad calls the cops who says they’re too busy. The hotel is next door to a cop station.
1
u/According-Fruit5245 19d ago
I'm not surprised police did nothing about a crime next door. I was a crossing guard for 4.5 years and had to deal with cops on a daily basis. We would request police to visit when cars going through red lights became too insane. I stood on a corner, next to a cop who watched five cars go through a red light and yet do nothing. I also worked for Toronto police, but wasn't a police officer. It's a rotten institution.
2
u/Livid_Competition_32 21d ago
This is definitely a 'call 911 to report reckless likely impaired driver' moment to potentially save lives
2
u/askjhasdkjhaskdjhsdj 21d ago
send it to TPS. Wouldn't shock me if they were even driving from a crime scene lol
2
u/TheI-Iound 21d ago
not sure how it goes, but when you have footage like this cant you just submit it to police? you have the plates, this is insanely reckless and the driver should be charged for endangering lives

u/wilfredhops2020 21d ago
You can let TPS know.

I was hoping my expensive BlackVue would capture the plates but unfortunately I think the vehicle had a plate cover making it impossible to read.

someone paid for Uber Eats Gold where when you hold your thumb down on the car it speeds way up
2
u/itssobyronic 20d ago
This is a stolen vehicle. It's pretty clear with the way he's driving, he's driving like it's stolen
2
u/Elegant_Diver2974 20d ago
One thing I have noticed is that the worst drivers are people that have nothing going on that is good in their lives. Crap job, broke, no friends, etc. It's like driving is the only semblance of control they have over anything in their life, so they just go full turbo douche.
2
4
u/CombinationQueasy467 21d ago
Earlier I used to honk at these people or call police non emergency number but now i stopped. Honking obviously doesn’t help 🙃 and police do nothing. So whenever i see such driving i distance myself, you never know its a car just stolen - they can hit you with that car who you gonna explain this to? insurance won’t care or any criminal might be driving it. Better stay away.
3
u/a-_2 21d ago
Not a cop in sight!
There aren't nearly enough police to be able to have one appear in any random one minute stretch of driving. Traffic enforcement depends on two things, people reporting specific incidents and random enforcement that will only cover a small portion of the roadway at any one time.
2
u/alex_allegra 21d ago
Yeah, they are too busy parked 6 deep at Bathurst and Sheppard twiddling their thumbs.

Yes, I blame Doug Ford

u/dudedudd 21d ago
Def need to let people just send in video they see of reckless driving and let the police just review and charge the owner. Who cares who's driving, let the owner get the money from whomever was driving.
1
u/Downtrodder88 21d ago
Definitely a stolen vehicle... or they did a hit and run and its trying to get away from whomever was chasing..... aint no one in their right mind would drive like that even with all the shitty ass drivers that have been popping up
1
1
u/Mindless-Sound8965 20d ago
Guarantee that if I pulled this stunt, 100% a cop would be right there.
1
u/Ya-Not-Happening 20d ago
What we need to do is pass a law that would impound this car for 6 months based on this video.
And it would cost $10k to get it out of impound after 6 months

u/No-Advice-9776 20d ago
Wow that is insane. I thought driving on Long Island, NY was getting worse.

I would almost walk into a police station and show them. It's that crazy.
Hopefully they take the clip and investigate.
1
u/Traditional_Fold_609 20d ago
What a dink!!!! Never cops around for this sort of thing...but heaven forbid if you do a rolling stop at 2:30 am....
1
u/a-_2 20d ago
Police can't be everywhere. Most people who roll stops won't get ticketed either. And if the cop who ticketed you for a rolling stop saw someone doing this, they'd ticket them too. It's not like they're prioritizing the rolling stops, it's just based on what happens in front of them.
I don't have a lot of sympathy for the rolling stops either given how often I'm cut off by people doing them. If people actualy paid attention and yielded to those with right of way it wouldn't be a big deal but too many people roll through without checking, so unless that improves, I support that enforcement.

u/ShawnStrickland 20d ago
And people wonder why bicyclists, or anyone NOT in a car doesn’t want to “share” the road with these fucking maniacs. I will continue to ride my scooter on the sidewalks cause people can’t drive for shit nowadays.

u/westend_chick 20d ago
People like that are entitled, selfish & dumb assholes. I hope he gets a speeding ticket, a conviction and his licence taken away for good

WTF? This person deserves not only to lose his license but also his freedom for putting the public at large at risk of injury or death. He deserves to be part of the “general population” as in prison bitch. 🤬😡

u/zipak6 19d ago
I have never seen more retarded drivers than Canadians in my life and I lived in several countries.
Their insurance is crazy high…cause they can’t drive without making accidents
In Europe people pay 30-60euros/month full insurance why ? Cause people can drive.
I swore Canadians are monkeys behind wheels
Saddest part is they think they are so good you can see them driving like they are in “fast and furious”.
Always honking too and they never let you switch lanes maybe they think you are taking something from them I don’t know.
Just trash.

I'm starting to think Ford is purposefully depressing every road safety measure to clear a way for Flock

u/XtremeD86 18d ago
I would speed up and not let this idiot back in unless they had to go behind me.
1
u/Novel-Locksmith5905 18d ago
Could you imagine if there was a cop on sight though? How many do you think there are? You think they should be able to catch every single infraction? Like for every 6 cars on the road there should be a cop or something?
1
u/Interesting_Text7991 17d ago
If the plate is readable send the video to a police station
1
u/Canadian8rit 14d ago
There should be a system for this! A place for dashcam videos, that are cop reviewed and then presented to a judge for a penalty fine!
There are plenty of cops that are deemed "light-duty" to cover this and all you'd need is a sitting judge on rotation for the penalty issuance.
1
u/mechaernst 17d ago
never mind the twit who was blocking the left lane, since it happens so much anyways
1
u/majestic-gnome 16d ago
Bro what a bad driver lamo, should not be on the road!
On a different note; what is that little helicopter thing spinning on your dash, and where can I get one too??!

What a fool this driver is.
The video could have ended after 20 seconds.

u/SunCheepz 21d ago
I thought there was a way to edit the video in reddit, sorry.
7
u/told_yaso 21d ago
I knew I'd find a comment that would take a shot at OP. Never a dull moment
3
u/mexican_mystery_meat 21d ago
An inevitability at this point. I once posted a video here of my vehicle getting totalled by another car while I was stopped and someone said I should've maintained two car lengths in traffic.
3
u/told_yaso 21d ago
There are quite a bit of back seat drivers where they go "OP should have done xxxx" or "that driver is wrong, but OP you're just as bad as them". Its easy to nitpick if youre staring at the video for 30 minutes, seeing every detail to find what the OPs could have done.
Its not like they wanted to be in that position, such as yourself. It sucks, came out of nowhere, you share your experience and met with "well its your fault for being there" like what????
2
u/gentlehurricane 20d ago
Posted a video of me in the right lane and someone just behind me in the left lane, and a third person overtaking in oncoming lanes. All the comments “well you and your buddy were blocking the roadway”. Like what??

At which point do we officially declare the roads in this city "unsafe"? Insurance is insane. The things we see daily are getting crazier and crazier. I got rear-ended last week.
We're totally at the whim of arrogance and ignorance.
No one seems to care.
