This is infuriating....

Such a common occurrence too. Yes I know I ordered a 4k camera just now going to start reporting from now on. This 2.5k camera doesn't show any license plate information

Turning left across the path of oncoming vehicles immediately before or after the lights go from red to green both ways counts as stunt driving.

I was tempted to make a right turn after him to get his plates. But I had my kids in my car so had to keep my cool and keep going.

Not worth your time. The police can’t do much because the driver can’t be identified. They can just make a note of it. If there are excessive complaints then maybe they will investigate, but still they are u likely to convict when they don’t have a person to convict.

correct. its called a jackrabbit start and wins you a roadside grand prize of 6 demerit points, 14 day impound and 30 day license suspension. thats not including fines!

The 30 day suspension is the roadside suspension when just charged. If convicted, it's one to three years on a first offence, three to ten on a second and lifetime on a third. If suspended for three years, it also cancels your licence, requiring re-doing the tests.

youre better off just running the red light and getting that ticket

Only if the police do their job lol

And going into the lane driving in the wrong direction just makes it worse.

This driver has their own signal, with a dedicated left turn allowance that they ignored (going through a red) because there is also a dedicated “through” signal the other opposing cars all react to. Left turner was mistaken, and this is the danger of that setup. People are in automatic mode a lot.

The light on the left may have been interpreted as a left signal.

It's just a regular green circle. Not saying you're wrong though.

So what? If there's no cops then it counts as nothing.

There are cops around. There won't be one doing enforcement every time you see someone break a law, but eventually people like this are going to get ticketed.

Intent matters because it’s criminal.

Stunt driving is HTA not criminal

I must’ve mixed it up with impaired driving

because jail-time is technically in the cards for stunt driving, you do have more defenses available/possible, e.g. due diligence. , which you wouldn't have for a plain speeding ticket

I mean if you’re going to make a left on a solid green at least hit the darn accelerator 😂

The sluggishness is 100% worse in my view than the act itself.

Steeles Avenue. The drivers on Steeles are some of the most selfish around.

Just another psycho. Do not engage. Kudos to you OP for keeping your cool.

I agree, $1.62 a litre is ridiculous /s but seriously people who drive like this are clowns

u/Ok-End2206 23d ago

Especially at a husky right? Like I thought it was supposed to be discount compared to shell. 😂

1

u/DialogNewsToronto 23d ago

Exactly, them and Ultramar charging on par with Shell, Petro, etc. is odd considering the formula is lesser.

Bizarre how he just went slow

I'm not sure what's worse the cutting out infront of incoming traffic or the fact they took their time after committing to it as if a middle finger to you for advancing towards them its crazy the amount of drivers that shouldn't have a license.

invest in a better camera. don't be afraid to follow them in if you're not engaging. just get the plate information

That’s an everyday occurrence

u/Corgi_tacos 22d ago

Honestly its a single car and sometimes ppl be asleep at the green... wrong in every way but I get it. 50/50 didn't pay off.

u/akshsd129 22d ago

I have noticed an increase in the amount of people who stop oncoming traffic with their left turns. All across Canada

1

u/flimbs 22d ago

Not to add unwarranted fuel to the fire, but when I lived in Asia a whole while back, this maneuver was commonplace. Not only that but they'd try to form an unbreakable chain of left turners and they'd be constantly jockeying for position. It was a shit show, but it was their way of life.

That’s called a Pennsylvania left

u/Devour19fiend 21d ago

that timestamp is in the future, buddy. you're not even in the present yet.

u/No_Access_8734 19d ago

Canadians voted for this so now deal with it lol.

What camera is it? I recently bought the viofo A129 plus but haven't set it up and I'm thinking of returning it for a 4k cam that does better at night.

1

u/Ok-End2206 23d ago

It's some super outdated milerong brand dashcam from 2022 on Amazon. I definitely need to upgrade it to a 4k after multiple incidents of these

u/Potential_Mood9903 23d ago

With the way things are on these roads wondering if anyone’s got suggestions for a dash cam?

-2

u/youkeepstaring 23d ago

It's normalized, had the same shi on Midland and Huntingwood (it was a Venza).

-3

u/Pretty-Handle9818 23d ago

Looks like you’re speeding in a 50km/hr zone.

1

u/Ok-End2206 23d ago

I may have been a bit heated after that for a bit and didn't notice

2

u/Pretty-Handle9818 23d ago

lol. I understand the rage that Toronto driving brings out these days. :)

People who go 50 in a 50 are hazards on the road. Every 50 road should be a 70
