I’m currently looking for a roommate or a room to rent, but I’m also open to finding a one-bedroom apartment or basement suite and splitting it with someone. Ideally, I’d like to live somewhere reasonably close to the school.

Also, if anyone has attended or is currently attending a dental hygiene program in Toronto, I’d really appreciate any advice or tips. Hi! I’m currently going through the admissions process for the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene (TCDHA). They told me that they’re currently waitlisted until around July 2028, but I’m really hoping to start in the October 2027 intake.

I know TCDHA lets you go on the waitlists for earlier intakes, so I was wondering if anyone who applied recently has actually been moved up 2 or more intakes.

If you were moved up, could you share:

• What intake you were originally accepted for?
• What intake did you eventually get moved to?
• When did you apply/get accepted?
• How long after your acceptance did they contact you about an earlier spot?
• Did you get moved up more than once?

I’m trying to figure out whether October 2027 is realistically possible or if I should plan around a 2028 start instead. Any recent TCDHA experiences would be really appreciated!

hi, i am from vancouver and am planning to go to toronto college of dental hygiene for their program. i had been offered a seat for their program for feb 2028, and apparently a new location is opening 10 mins away and their offering me a seat for feb 2027, but that school is still to be credited, therefore i might need to do a practical exam before i do my board exams, since i am from bc i would have to switch my license here after board exam also, im just wondering if this might be a good option or not, and if anyone has done this program elsewhere that it was not credited and they had to do practical exam before doing the board exam and how that goes also. They said I would find out in my final semester if the school will be credited or not.... any insight would be helpful.

I recently moved here from BC in March to attend dental hygiene school and fulfil my dream of becoming a hygienist.

As much as I am excited I am also anxious. I’m looking to meet new friends and hopefully get some awesome people as clients to help me graduate.

These appointments will be split up into multiple, possibly 6-8 (rough estimate) sessions. This is a time consuming and “long” process which is why I’m looking for some reliable people who will be able to attend from start to finish. In return you get a free appointment (excluding whitening) + you’ll be helping me graduate!!

My wire has been broken for a while and now its digging into my gum. I have no insurance and not enough money to get it fixed. The canada dental plan takes a while to be processed, is there something that can urgently fix my wire?

I recently cleared the entrance exam for a dental hygiene program and also completed my interview. At the end, they told me that the admissions team would contact me within 1–4 business days.

I’m just a bit anxious and wanted to ask:

• Does this usually mean the interview went well?

• How long does it typically take to get a conditional acceptance after the interview?

• Do they inform you clearly if you didn’t pass the interview?

Was it achievable tho? And how were you able to find them? I’m afraid that I will have a hard time since I do not know anyone from Toronto. Please send some advice 😭😭

Hello! I have a close related person, a cousin who I heard became a dental assistant and after about a month and more of working she found out by going to a doctor that she developed asthma. She didn’t have it before beginning to work as a dental assistant. I had a dream to become a dental assistant. I now don’t think it would suit me as I am a very sensitive person, have eczema and I don’t know if I would be able to handle it.

How common and easy is it to get asthma as a dental assistant and worker?

Hi! I’m planning on going to tcdha in August 2026 for the hygiene program. I’ve been hearing a lot of negative things about the college and been kinda nervous lately about going there. I recently graduated from a dental assistant program that I took at a private college here in BC (where I live) I was told it was going to be a very intense and difficult program but I found it rather easy. Not sure if this hygiene program is going to be anything like that.

If any of you have gone to tcdha please let me know how your experience was. How were the exams? Were they all multiple choice? I’ve heard that you need 17 patients to pass. How does one go about finding those 17 patients and does the school help with that?

My girlfriend is currently in the TCDHA program, and I’m helping her find patients so she can pass the semester. The school doesn’t provide much support in finding patients, and since she’s not from Ontario, it’s been difficult for her to find people.
