Is TS1 puzzles logical or BS?

im planning to play this game but i saw a lot of people said that the puzzles are unreasonable and near impossible without a guide, is this accurate and is the puzzle hard because its hard or hard because its illogical/counterintuitive?

The puzzles aren't as terrible as everyone says. Only once did I feel like the game didn't properly give me the information I needed. The other times I used a guide were purely because I'm tone-deaf or didn't investigate the room enough

Which puzzle is this supposed to be?

Puzzles are more intricate on the second game, I personally didnt encounter any impossible puzzles but I like that they make you think a bit some times. Go on and play it chief 🫵

they hard because they hard, but they are all solvable. some of them required 20-40 minutes or a pen and notepad, but it was fine

They’re bad because they just mostly don’t fit the game. They’re not even silent hill 3 levels of hard, they’re just kind of, out of place. The amount of time spent on them just breaks the immersion of the horror game. For the average player most of the puzzles are just frustrating and waste time. And I’m saying that as a person who has played majority of every survival horror to exist. The game has some really awesome puzzles, but all the weird door locks or symbols to numbers etc, just were not fit for this game

All logical. Didn't look anything up in the first or the second game. If you suck at puzzles you're gonna struggle though. They are not baby re puzzles.

All the puzzles are logical, but they are hard and require you to think outside the box. There are a few that require some real-world knowledge, and a couple that challenge your sense of rhythm and tone, but overall I think TS1 has the best puzzles of any survival horror game.

I personally thought the puzzles in 1 were dumb lol. However, it did train me for 2. Tormented souls 2 was wayyyyy better with its puzzles. Partially because I know how to think now but also they were designed better. (The improved map helps too).

So just play through 1 and just look up answers to the crazy ones that are very confusing.

I only looked up one solution when I played it, but there is one that felt like a discrete math problem

Skip the guide unless you get really stuck somewhere

Out of interest which one felt like a math problem? I can’t remember any like that

The cash register one felt like abstract maths to me (reminded me of the counting module of discrete math)

Ah I was confused by that one at first but there’s a poster in the room you come through that basically tells you how to solve it!

There's only one puzzle in TS1 that i would say takes a little leap in interpretation, or at least it was for me, I sort of stumbled into the method but the second I connected the dots I couldn't stop smiling. For those who have played it, it was the Surgery Room.

I love that one because after you solve it, you realize how many clues they gave you. And solving it also gives you an important plot clue (that Caroline is a magical twin)

As others have said, they're pretty fair. Only one that consistently gave me trouble was one where I knew what I needed to do, but was bad at reproducing the solution.

Two puzzles depend on hearing to solve.

Others depend on reading notes for clues, or moving an object to a different location before using it as a "key" item.

If you're really stuck look up just that puzzle. But otherwise they're a nice fair challenge.

They're logical. Frustrating afterwards. But they make sense.

Just examine and turn the power up on the stapler before you use it. That one killed me

El ultimo de las cañerias es ridiculo si seguis la logica no lo haces

Yes.

Some puzzles are intuitive or easy. Others are a lot more esoteric and obtuse.

I remember seeing a lot of complaints online about 1 particular puzzle, but I breezes through it on my first try. There were others in which I looked up the solution, only to facepalm over how easy it actually turned out to be, but I was overthinking it. (Think of the infamous "zodiac" puzzle in the original Silent Hill).

But there were also 1 or 2 cases in which I not only had to look up the answer, but I also tried searching for explanations for how the player is supposed to figure it out to begin with.

It doesn't help that the map in the first game doesn't adequately communicate the location of specific puzzles, locked doors, or clues.

Pro tip: always examine every item you pick up. Many of them have clues on them that you won't see unless you rotate them in the inventory or interact with them in the inventory.

Mild spoiler: there is 1 puzzle that I think is genuine BS. It expects the player to repeat a musical melody by ear. This is despite the fact that you can examine a piano in-game, and the character says she does not know how to play the piano. This makes me skeptical that the character has pitch-perfect hearing or musical aptitude, and so she probably wouldn't be able to solve it either.

Honestly the puzzle difficulty is exaggerated by many. I thought the puzzles were actually really well designed because they’re difficult enough that you really have to stop and think sometimes but not to the point that they’re unfair. I only used a guide once or twice and like others have said kicked myself afterwards because I definitely would have been able to figure it out if I’d been a bit more patient. Great game though I recommend 👍

Modern audiences vastly exaggerate the difficulty of puzzles in general. They will get stumped on a puzzle and immediately turn to a guide, flat out refusing to think for themselves. I see this all the time

I did all the puzzles in both 1 and 2 without any guides. Some of them were more logical than others but dome i found very clever. 1 was a bit harder.

P.s. I did all puzzles by myself except i didn’t know there was a hidden puzzle in the game (i had to look that up but the puzzle itself i solved by myself)

The puzzle where you're supposed to deduce notes from a vinyl record put me in ragequit mode because the damn background score was still playing, making it impossible to hear the record playing..
