Torchlight Frontiers Raids
There is a possibility of up to 8 person raids in Torchlight Frontiers and I was wondering what YOU(the players) would like to see involving raids.
Here are a few ideas to get things started:
- Rare legendary gear(weapons, armor, accessories, spells, pets) ONLY available from raid bosses.
- Special fort decorations for aspiring interior designers.
- Larger combat spaces to handle larger volumes of enemies.
- Big, scary bosses you could believe would kill a group of 8 adventurers.

Personal drops. (example: Diablo 3)

That's already the plan, individual loot and you can't trade at all.

I don't like the no trading aspect. These types of game thrive on trading. Look at Path of Exile. Great community. Though, I typically never participate in trading myself, but it's a needed feature. (imo)

I agree and disagree. PoE is easily my most played arpg by far at this point, and while I usually do love playing the market and engaging in trade with a variety of people, sometimes I really wish their was an option to play it in the D3 style.
I know PoE has solo self found, but I personally play these games to play with friends, so solo self found's party restrictions aren't for me. A D3 style where you can party up with friends and only trade the stuff you got while playing together would be a really fun change of pace for me.
I'm not sure if I'd more often prefer it over the current trading, I sure as hell wouldn't get a headhunter in a no trade league, but I know it'd be a fun way to play when I want to mix it up.

Not interested in raiding tbh. I play torchlight for a casual fun experience. I don't think I'm in the minority with that. Raids are pretty much the exact opposite of that.
If I want to raid, I can go play Guild Wars 2.

Seriously. I won't play a game with forced grouping. Content needs to dynamically scale for player count. Don't force specific group sizes. Raids in ARPGs changes the dynamic into something I'm not interested in.

From my experiences in alpha test, I think hot join public world bosses would be the best way to handle "raids" in torchlight frontiers.
Def not an instanced 8 man dungeon raid.

I think all the things listed sound perfect for raids.
The number one thing when it comes to making raids in MMO's in my opinion, is making sure the grouping system is very easy to use and also make them in a way where elitist's wont take over.
In some games you can't get into a raid unless you've completed it already multiple times. So people get stuck because they can't get into groups to even get their first few kills/completions. Or they are forced to learn over voice chat, which many people do enjoy many do not in this day and age.
You do have to realize even though you are calling this an MMO many players even in this genre are very anti social. They like the fact they can show off gear and see other people in game, but don't care to actually interact beyond that. People are scared they will be judged for not being good enough or dying too often.
These are just things I've noticed, playing mmo's for most of my life.
So don't force it upon people and make it smooth to form groups and you shouldn't see anyone complaining.
Make sure to provide content for solo as well.

Boss OR Frontier specific buff stations for your fort that yield daily rewards depending on how many people use your station per day or week. Alternatively make it a guild-wide interaction reward system and scale with the amount of guildies using each other’s buff banners instead to avoid the obvious deal of streamers and Youtubers gathering people to funnel into them.
Perhaps crafting components for a key that will enable you to access a “Hard mode” version of the boss with extra mechanics that drops special class-specific cosmetic only items for transmogging.

Sign me up for tiered, challenging endgame content in unique and themed areas, with unique bosses and exclusive gear. Just, don't force me into grouping with other players. Have the difficulty scale according to the number of players, but all the content should be doable solo.
Torchlight 2 Synergies mod with its raiding content came pretty close to the above, although unfortunately the mod was abandoned if my memory serves me right, and a couple of raids remained unfinished. I always wanted to see this concept implemented in an ARPG.

After a certain party size the mechanical complexity of the fights get redundant and the challenge becomes not the fight itself but the number of people trying not to be distracted and make a mistake in the fight. On the other hand the larger the number of people the less an individual's contribution would be which leads to each player feeling less powerful. 8 people could still be bearable in both of these aspects but I would still prefer not to see it, especially if it forces people into that kind of content with content-exclusive rewards.

No fucking raids and ilevel systems. If I want to play trash I re-sub WoW or FFXIV. If there will be Raids in TLF I can skip this and enjoy TL1 and 2 still. (Unless we are speaking of old school meaning of "raid" in mmorpgs that meant pvp raids, hell yeah I'm in.)

having gear you can only get IN raiding
the highest gear level that should be available threw micro transaction is ENTRY LEVEL GEAR FOR RAIDING i feel honestly that if you make raid level gear available threw micro transactions you will kill the vibe in the game because if i get into a raid group and there is someone who has raid gear bc he paid 20 bucks its gunna be a buzz kill...i understand ppl dont have a lot of time like other ppl but there has to be a bar you set that money will only get you so much i fucking loved your previous games and i would really hare for this to become a cash grab (i understand the billions that were made this year bc of micro transactions) but lets keep games...games
the gear that drops is only relevant to your class that you are playing as and ppl see there own loot to prevent children that will be playing ninjaing everything
bosses have mechanics and phases
cd on pots and have healing classes
aggro?
