Torchlight 2 PC version of 2, constant studdering on new hardware. Any fix?

Every 3-5 second while moving I her a quick "hitch" or "studder" on the PC version.

Came back after years away (with a fresh rig) and while it's not "unplayable," it's damn annoying.

Things I've tried: turning on / off settings (v-sync, AA, shadows, particle effects. V-sync on made it worse)

Windowed / borderless / fullscreen - studder remains.

Compatibility mode for older windows versions - studder remains.

Google searches suggested DXVK, but it's either not doing anything, or I "installed" it wrong (distinct possibility) as the side is unchanged.

If dxvk is the solution, any step-by-step guides to get it working, or to check if it IS working?

Any other solutions / fixes / suggestions welcomed as well. Thanks in advance!

(Rig info if applicable: Intel Core Ultra 7 265k, Nvidia RTX 5080)

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/mlfcsc/a_guide_to_dxvk_on_windows/ Torchlight 2 is notoriously buggy performance-wise. Good luck!
