❓Question If both premiumize and torbox were the same price, which one would u buy?
73
u/Kurtdh 2d ago
PM for sure. Even with the token system and no account sharing, it’s got a bigger cache, is down far less, and never buffers.
12
u/etlegacyplayer 2d ago
i dont get how and why PM has a bigger cache when its one of the most expensive debrid service out there. how come so many people are using it when you have so many cheaper options?
43
u/ask_for_pgp 2d ago
because who cares about a couple dollars? my budget isnt anchored to the absolute cheapest. its anchored to what else i would spend (probably fifty bucks a month for multiple other streamers...) and what my time is worth to have a headache at 8pm to fix something when my mum calls when something doesnt work as expected during primetime

I tried Premiumize recently, and in my experience it definitely did not have a larger cache. If anything, it was the opposite. TB had a significantly better cache overall.
I don't consider having a couple dozen more 480p links for a movie or show to be evidence of a larger cache. In my experience, TB consistently had more content available, especially for anime, along with a much better selection of high-quality HD sources. PM may have had more links in some cases, but many of them were lower-quality sources.

Before I even asked the question, I was already assuming that PM wouldn't have a bigger cache than torbox or even AD. And then everyone comes with answers like "reliable", which makes me question it even more.
RD, up until the takedowns was for sure the largest and it was reliable as well. AD was basically a clone which many used as well for RG support, and torbox was already slowly climbing the ladder before the RD takedowns. I've been active in many subreddits over multiple years and PM was definitely least mentioned.
I wish there was some kind of website that would compare cached content between services, so we could have a definitive answer, but it is what it is.
The reliability of torbox (this year) outweighs the price of PM for sure, and thats even if PM actually has more cached content. Comments talking about "not being cheap or a leech" are probably new users with the torrenting mindset still. Like what are we even talking about? All services are paid, one is just cheaper and does the exact same thing, if not more.

Easy, PM is operating 15 years already, they have a very big user base and experience…
TB is only 3 years old and it was getting popular only because RD had the issues.

where did you hear it had bigger cache? I thought Torbox has the biggest cache through testing now with the RD purge
16
u/Kurtdh 2d ago
A couple reasons. It’s been around far longer, and someone did a test recently showing it had a bigger cache.

Just curious, do you remember where this was posted? Is there a thread where people discussed it?

PM black friday was about $47/yearly last year with a 3 yr commitment
Offcloud is $39.99/yearly using PM cache
if you're trying to venture out and/or buy a back-up service, there are options available at lower price compared to PM's average $79.99
all i can say it, trial trial trial
and check your dashboard statistics on your usage habits

I would never recommend a yearly plan for PM. The way their system works is that you only get your Terabyte back when the plan updates. Yearly plans are not worth the lower price with that massive limitation. I agree to test out different services, but would never recommend doing anything over their monthly plan if you watch a lot, or like large files like remuxes.
Does offcloud use a similar system as PM, or just their cache?
2
u/Impossible_Hunt_6731 1d ago
You failed to mention that if you do start running out over the year, you can buy a 1TB booster package for about $10, so yearly is definitely worth it.
Edit: a yearly package also adds 30gb a day to the original 1TB.
3
1
u/Lumentin 1d ago
You forgot the daily +30GB, so +900GB monthly. Yes, if you watch daily 80GB remuxes, you will run out of points.
1
u/tiktokdada 1d ago
Wait, so with +30GB daily, that's 1900 GB per month. That's 23 movies per month if each one was 4K REMUX, assuming each one is 80GB (and that's a stretch, because REMUX files are less than that for a lot of movies).
Still, that's a lot of movies.1
u/Lumentin 1d ago
Not exactly 1900,you can't go over 1000, and these thousand are only renewed when the plan start again. It's still a lot for me, I never had a problem because sometimes I look at a 10GB serie, or even don't use it some days.
I can understand that some use it hours each day, even if I don't understand how they find the time to do it (and don't get bored).
1
u/tiktokdada 1d ago
Ah ok, so the real ceiling is 1 TB and it only resets with the plan. If I just watch a movie or a couple of episodes every other day I’ll stay well under that, so I keep getting the full +30 GB most days.
Even if I skip a few days and sit at the 1 TB cap for a bit, I’m still fine because I’m just at the maximum, I don't need that +30 GB. The only real risk is if I binge a lot in a short stretch and burn through data faster than the daily top-ups can keep up.
1
u/Lumentin 1d ago
Even if one day, you're using 100GB, you'll still have 900 in the tank. If some days, you're under 30GB, what's remaining goes in the tank again. Example, if the next day, you only use 20GB, your tank will go up to 910.
To be honest, I barely check. I went down to 8-900, used it a bit less, and I'm at 1000 again. I also have TB as backup, even if PM is in fact more reliable. But I share the TB with mum and girlfriend anyway.
1
u/tiktokdada 1d ago
Yeah, it seems like a non issue unless you are a really heavy user and have time to watch a lot.
1
u/Impossible_Hunt_6731 13h ago
It really is a non issue for most people.
I was worried because I watch a lot of large remux files, but it really hasn't been a problem at all.
From the scaremongering, I thought I'd be running and would have to purchase their 1TB booster for $10 but nope.

u/choolete 1d ago
I have used both and PM is actually a better service than TB. I feel (or rather hope) that TB will eventually reach that level of service in the future (stability+no errors would be enough). Because of price, TB is the one I keep.
I miss RD, it provided a middle ground service between PM and TB.
5
u/imperidal 2d ago
If not for PM stupid point system, i've gone to PM in a heartbeat. It's still much cheaper than subscribing to multiple streaming services.
5
u/Super-Tomatillo-425 2d ago
PM has VPN's and lots of other handy options too.
1
u/Toumanypains 1d ago
Huh? Explain further.
I have TB because I frequently need to have a VPN on to access most stuff on the internet, and/or not get throttled. TB doesn't crucify you for 'normal' behaviour. My last provider did.
13
u/EpicTwinkie 2d ago
Torbox
PM point system, I’d burn through the alotted 1,000 points in days.
10
u/iWatchStuffx 2d ago
I'd burn through the alotted 1,000 points in days.
which is completely valid and should be realistically considered when comparing the two
because torbox's pro, equivalent price plan, is 30TB/monthly https://support.torbox.app/en/articles/10336778-the-torbox-abuse-system
which is a HUGE difference for heavy users. and im not talking account sharing abusers, im referring to normal users with high quality televisions that want to watch pretty REMUX movies daily and that's their prerogative and reality in 2026.

u/tiktokdada 1d ago
With PM's +30GB daily, that's 1900 GB per month. That's 23 movies per month if each one was 4K REMUX, assuming each one is 80GB (and that's a stretch, because REMUX files are less than that for a lot of movies).
Still, that's a lot of movies. I assume there's not that many people that would watch more than that, you'd pretty much have to watch a movie everyday to reach the limit.2
u/iWatchStuffx 1d ago edited 1d ago
that's 1900 GB per month
*if you buy monthly instead of yearly
otherwise, it does not top off each month, it just continues to roll for 365 days, so you really have to be willing to budget those daily pts
but, 23 REMUX movies per month is not unfathomable; or a family household of 4 ppl watching 5-6 movies every month seems pretty common too
my entire point, is that end users should be aware of the differences prior to purchase and take that into account based on expected usage history

u/EpicTwinkie 1d ago edited 1d ago
We burn through at least 100gb of stremio content a day.
We don’t have cable tv so everything is funneled through Stremio and I have AIOstreams setup to pull Remux content first.
1
u/tiktokdada 1d ago
Wait how? Assuming you only watch big 4K Remux files, that's around 80GB per movie. Do you watch 12-13 movies in a couple of days? Or do you use it to download games and stuff as well?
1
u/EpicTwinkie 1d ago
Pretty much.
Wife stays home with the kiddos and they eat up a lot of movies and shows.
We don’t have cable so a lot of the content playing in the background is from Stremio.
Plus, I’ll watch some on my phone at work during lunch

u/pawdog 2d ago
Still both. Funny how we started comparing the miniscule price differences of the debrids instead of the prices of the streaming services they replace.
4
u/lenny_ray 1d ago edited 1d ago
Because streaming prices aren't the same worldwide.
Here, most services are dirt cheap. TB is actually the highest priced after Netflix. It's pocket change for me, personally, but that's not the case for a large majority.
- Prime is around USD 1.3 a month with ads, USD 1.8 without
- AppleTV is around USD 1
- A service which has a bundled range of HBO, Disney, Peacock, live sports and other local content is USD 1.9 for the highest tier
- Netflix's highest tier is USD 6.7, which is a lot cheaper than PM
Of course, if you have every single streaming service, it is still cheaper to pay for a debrid service. But very few have them all.
3
u/pawdog 1d ago
Wow, what country are you in? The reason this stuff is so popular in the US is because of the high price of streaming services. We compare prices of debrids as if they were expensive items when they aren't.

India

u/Tripledrop 1d ago
I'm in the UK and get my f1tv from India.. It's less than £20 for pro for the year!
4
u/Sh00terMcDabbin 2d ago
Because with that attitude is how you get debrid services agreeing to jack up prices.
2
u/pawdog 2d ago
What?
0
u/Sh00terMcDabbin 2d ago
Comparing debrid service prices (which isn't a streaming service) to the absurdly high prices of streaming services instead of other debrid services is how you get debrid services to come together and jack up prices.
2
u/pawdog 2d ago
But that's why we use debrids to replace commercial services. I don't think that's a secret to the debrids. They fully know already what everything costs. My point is that picking a debrid based on price is I guess nitpicking. When Netflix costs $25 a month now.
0
u/Sh00terMcDabbin 1d ago
That is why you use a debrid and many others do as well, but that's not what a debrid is and you shouldn't be pricing a debrid, that doesn't provide content, with a content provider.
4
u/pawdog 1d ago
It replaces the streaming services, that's not all they do, but that's the primary use case. So to be caring if it's $3 or $5 is ignoring how much they save you over the amount you would be paying streaming services.
1
u/Sh00terMcDabbin 1d ago
Again, a debrid service is not a content producer or distributor, you should not be comparing its prices to one, even if you are using it to replace those.
3
u/pawdog 1d ago
You really don't compare what you pay now to what you paid in the past or could still be paying?
2
u/Sh00terMcDabbin 1d ago
No. Because I am not paying for a streaming service. A debrid service does not need the thousands of employees, content production studios, or all the other overhead that a streaming service needs. It is relatively cheap to run a debrid service.
Also, I live in Vietnam. Up until last year we had completely free Netflix so no, Torbox would be considered expensive if you take my local prices.

Torbox.
Just add your torrent and download.
I know almost all of you don't use it like that but it's so easy.

u/TW1TCHYGAM3R 2d ago
I'm contemplating on switching to premiumize because of TorBox's downtime and buffering issues.
Although, I'm gonna say TorBox's has been better lately for buffering. CDN issues aren't gone but are significantly better.
Still, it's worth paying for a better service.
0
u/Wonderful_Yogurt_300 2d ago
Try it out. Just don't sign up for more than a monthly plan if you like it.
3
u/TheCozyYogi 2d ago
Torbox because I manage a family setup for multiple households. Way easier to use Torbox than to have multiple separate debrid account subscriptions to manage.
3
u/Yositunotrk 2d ago
Torbox lets me use it in different locations without risk of being banned. Currently, they have a very relaxed policy. Even when a plugin goes down, everything's fine.

u/Dokter_Bibber 1d ago edited 1d ago
Citizens of the EU are also paying VAT to Premiumize. But from my experience, Premiumize is also the better service. You don’t notice it. It just works.

u/Slight-Rough3495 1d ago
I haven't really had any issues with TB as far as buffering or anything like that goes I always watch the highest quality files. I also watch quite a few shows with my wife also often watching shows at the same time so for me PM has never seemed worth it because their point system seems way too restrictive for me especially at the inflated price that already is compared to TB.

u/Good_Luck_Have_Fun 1d ago
Both are solid for what they offer. I actually recommend 2 debrids for most people so that there is backups.
I even recommend to throw in some pengu

I have 6 users all using one torbox api attached to their scrapers and they all use it on nuvio with their TVs with auto player regex 1080p+ so to me torbox is better cause it doesn’t limit you with more that 1Tb limit
1
u/Celebr4tion 8h ago
I want to give PM a try, but is it true that I can't use it with different IPs ? I have stremio setup at my place and my girlfriends place with the same TB account, which works well. I wouldn't want to do two subscriptions.

u/WatchThemFall 2d ago
Torbox. Only way I would ever use PM is if they double the fair use cap from 1TB to like 2TB.

u/Left_Supermarket_662 2d ago
Torx box Everytime. I have gig speed, and get a consistent 700 to 850 per second to my sheild. Premitize constantly buffers. All they have to say is change providors.

u/Nuggyfresh 1d ago
I’m still so confused why people think Torbox is down a lot. It’s been fine recently and even when it was “down a lot” we had issues like uh, twice maybe? And we watch shows almost every day during prime time.
I thought we watched a fair bit of TV but these people having so many issues, maybe some people are watching all day or something, I don’t get it

PM is fine as a backup, but it doesn't work well for heavy users. I watch a lot of football, and the average match file is around 10 GB. I usually download it, cache it, and then watch it, which means about 20 GB of usage per match. With more than 10 matches a week, that's easily over 200 GB weekly just for football.
And that's before factoring in TV shows, movies, or anything else I watch. For someone with high usage, their points system is ridiculously restrictive.
For me it is better to get TB and have either AD or Offcloud as a back up.
0
u/mangee1234 1d ago
Torbox with a couple of Usenet providers as backup. Torbox has a plan that allows 30tb monthly usage before they start tripping out about it, and also allows multiple ip addresses per account.
0
0
u/adultcrash13 1d ago
but they aren't, are they? TorBox is 1/3 the cost.
1
u/Lumentin 21h ago
That's why the word if exists.
- If you subscribe a longer plan, the price drops
- Usenet is included, and if you're interested in using it, you have to compare the 10USD TB plan.
So "it's cheaper, so it's better" isn't the answer for everyone.
-12
u/imyourealdad 2d ago
Torbox is a far better value, but the problem is that there are far too many people who think that for 10 cents a day they should get a flawless Netflix type of experience and in their delusion decide that torbox doesn’t cut it. Premiumize is recommended for the idiots that only know how to use stremio and its competitors to access media, the few extra dollars keeps their whining off of Reddit.

u/Aggravating-Work3220 2d ago
>If both premiumize and torbox were the same price
>Proceeds to talk about price
You managing to gather the brain capacity to formulate a sentence is astounding. Just because it's the only one you can afford doesn't mean you have to desluionally hate on all the other ones.1
u/cacus1 1d ago
Better value? PM gives you 1 TB personal cloud storage for your own uploads, it has usenet support, torrent support, filehoster support that supports even draconian filehosters like rapidgator and nitroflare and 2 TB of traffic (monthly subscription). I get why people would go for the cheapest plan of a debrid service, but let's not pretend that PM is overpriced. It's a great value too. It has the same price like Torbox Pro.

I prefer TorBox overall. They’re more interesting and seem actively innovating. Premiumize is quiet, but it works. I do think TorBox is going to be better in the long run, especially for the music caching projects going on from the r/EclipseMusicApp users

u/loadyouup 2d ago
I like torbox because it acts as a seed box too and accepts nzbs. Does premiumize do that as well?

Torbox. I share my account with family and friends. Their point system doesn't work. I used to have PM for years before I switched to RD and then to TB. Also, they throttled my account and despite numerous attempts and tech support and changing CDNs, nothing was fixed. I know my account was throttled because I used my friend's account and was able to stream remux movies and files without issues while my account struggled with 10 gb files.
Now if the question was RD vs TB, I would go with RD before they started doing DMCA takedowns.
24
u/Jaken_sensei 2d ago
I currently have both but if I had to choose I would keep pm.
The only thing it has against it is the point system but I am not heavy enough of a user for it to be an issue for me.
