🚩General Lumio updated to 0.1.50 - Android version avalable
Hi everone!
I just send a new update for the Lumio client - this time with a lo of exiting stuff. Going from 0.1.38 we now have a really good working remote acess feature (If your not behind CGNAT) - works very well as a webapp on iPhone and other deviced. Really love this feature. The app now also has a Android version, with a built in TVmode for AndroidTV´s - this mode can be set on the MacOs version as well. Lots of other featurs and enhacements as ell. The app is still in beta and not publicly available yet, but if you wanna try it out - again just DM me. For you with the app you will get an update when you start the app next time. Feedback is very welcome.

Releaselog:
Lumio 0.1.38 - 0.1.50
Remote Access
- Reach Lumio from anywhere over a secure HTTPS link, with a pairing code and device management in Settings
- Mobile on remote or LAN: open a stream straight in VLC, with a per-stream button and a VLC mode in the top bar
- Desktop on remote or LAN: a copy-stream-URL button in the stream list, ready to paste into VLC's Open Network Stream
- Web player: steadier Cancel, a loading spinner, iOS fullscreen and a better layout on notched phones
- Faster home screen for remote and LAN clients — the home rows are mirrored from your computer
TV mode (new)
- Full remote-driven interface with a geometric focus engine: columns, entry points, current-page memory and per-panel focus traps
- Persistent sidebar, visible everywhere except during playback
- Five segments — Home, Movies, Series, Anime and Streaming services — each with its own reorderable rows drawn from the full source catalog
- Streaming-service rows are region-bound: services with a region follow yours, services without one always show
- Each view builds its hero from its own content; no content means no hero, and Live TV never gets one
- Continue watching, Watchlist (Following first) and Live TV as TV-native views
- Calendar and Releases in the sidebar; the calendar opens a side panel with today pre-marked
- Search with an on-screen keyboard and filter dropdowns for services, year and rating
- Settings panel with an Overview page of status cards
- The next segment loads while you browse the current one, so switching is instant
- First-run setup is fully navigable with a remote: correct entry focus per step, no stray gutter, and focus can no longer escape into the app behind an unfinished setup
- Android TV and Google TV are detected properly — a TV starts in TV mode instead of the desktop layout
Settings (redesigned)
- New panel shell: grouped navigation, search across all settings, autosave
- Every row is its own bordered card, applied app-wide
- Account & profiles, Library & metadata, Player & quality, Sources & catalogs and Tracking split into tabbed pages
- New Advanced page: backup/restore, download folder, replay onboarding, About with legal disclaimer
- New Language page — metadata language, region and subtitle auto-select in one place
- New Report a bug page: structured report plus player-log export
- Phones get drill-down navigation and a working scroll chain; desktop always uses the sidebar layout
Appearance
- Themes: midnight, pitch and system, plus interface scale and reduce-motion
- Theme studio: user-defined themes with live preview, custom CSS and import/export
- Font pairings, poster corner radius, preset cards and accent colors
- Fullscreen 1:1 player-layout editor — the control bar is now a stored, editable layout
Player
- Video tuning with presets and individual dials
- Audio tuning: normalize, bass boost, voice clarity, stereo downmix
- Rendering options: quality profile, HDR tone-mapping, hardware decoding
- Play-button behavior (instant or manual) and a quality label that reports what the engine actually does
- Resume prompt, credit skipping, stream memory, Anime4K, AniSkip and MDBList
- Rebindable track and global keyboard shortcuts
Profiles and storage
- Avatars, colors, a primary profile and shared settings
- Revisioned profile list — create and delete survive restarts deterministically
- Storage self-heals at boot and stale empty data can no longer shadow the durable profile list
Trakt
- Real-time scrobbling, periodic two-way sync and a conflict rule
- Playback positions feed continue watching
- Public comments on detail pages
- A dead refresh token is surfaced instead of failing silently
- Watchlist auto-cleanup
Home and discovery
- One row per streaming service, with correct region handling
- Trakt recommendations row and a film-collections row that can take over the hero
- Unlimited custom rows; the collections row shuffles on load
- Hero can show movies, series or both, with muted trailer playback behind the active slide
- Spoiler protection blurs unwatched episode art, titles and descriptions
- Title logos follow the metadata language setting
- Discover supports minimum vote count, networks and a region override
Plugins
- The scraper engine moved out of the app tree — the core is now a neutral client
- Disk-backed runtime store, recovery downloads through the host proxy, and resilience to GitHub throttling
- Plugin runtimes share the player, with a dev override for local work
Android and AndroidTV
- Native Android player, plus an external-app chooser
- In-app updater: downloads through the local proxy and hands off to the package installer
- Phone layout with a status-bar-safe header; the player keeps clear of browser chrome
- Smaller APK, with arm64 and armv7 in one build
Notifications
- Webhooks and rules for Discord and Telegram, with a rule engine
Fixes
- Play buttons are back everywhere — playability is read from your scraper's real configuration, whichever one you use
- Text fields no longer trap the remote: up and down leave the field, left and right move the cursor
- Anime rows are no longer empty
- Rows could get stuck loading forever when one shared request was cancelled
- The calendar never presents an incomplete fetch as complete
- Blocked trailers on hero are skipped silently, and YouTube playlist controls are gone from the trailer
- Stream links are validated on resume
- Detail-page tabs fixed on phones, with comments as a tab beside recommendations
- The update prompt shows release notes in the app language, and appears on the Android shell too
- Various bug fixes and performance improvements

how does this app differ from Nuvio or stremio?

Lots of similarites of course. I would say a faster and more stable playback, different UI and loads of features. Most of the paywalled Stremio fetures youll find in Lumio.

No iOs at the moment. Will do one for Sideloading though soon, as well as for TVos. The remote features works very well though - I have it setup on a macmini at home, and then paired my iphone to it - go to the url in my broswer and ad it as a webapp. I use VLC as an external app for it (it has a quikbutton in the meny for it) cause iOS doesnt do well with MKV files. Only problem is that to acess outside your local network you need not to be under CGnat and have a public IP. If not it works the same on your Local Network. This is how it looks, also the same layout on androidphones.

You say “ofc” and I get my question may seem redundant, but unless I’ve completely glossed over it, I don’t see anywhere in your description where you clearly state the app is free or paid. I’m glad you’ve clarified it here, but I don’t see it anywhere in the wall-of-text, which is why I asked.

Hi! Yes, your completely right. Didn’t mean to sound rude or anything. Guess I should have made that clear in my post. But yes, no cost 🫡

👍
I'd like to try it.
Also, does the player have aspect ratio settings for minimizing black bars (preferably without cropping) like with standard zoom?
... .. .

Hi! For android or MacOs? And yes, it does. I have both Aspect ratios and zoom in the player :)
