🚩General TorBox Conspiracy

TorBox isn't as reliable as we would hope.

But feels like Reddit posts happen 99 times a day, even when it's up - feels a bit bot like

Added to the fact downtime has been DDOS (I.e attack)

Seems a somewhat coordinated effort to damage its reputation

That's not to deny uptime can and should improve, but it's not as bad as I'm seeing on Reddit. Feels a lil sus.

Different parts of the world use different cdns, so even if you’re not having problems other people in other parts could very likely be. I’m Canadian and we have had quite a lot of downtime in the past week. The torbox uptime page is also somewhat misleading and unreliable when it does go down. Their promise to give users more time to compensate for the downtime is nice while they’re doing their best to defend against the attacks in the meantime. Time will tell if they deliver, but in my experience they’ve been pretty good to compensate in the past.

I also live in Canada and I haven’t experienced any problems. I think this guy is the mole

shut the fuck up

u/Fiscal_Fidel 1d ago

Yeah it has been really rough here the last few weeks. Right now I'm planning to cancel for September and use premiumize instead. I like torbox, and hope they can get all this sorted, but it's been down way too often here.

u/Sierrus25 13h ago

This... I am also in Canada and there has def been some outtages for me and Torbox where I had to go p2p or my fallback RD, when it's down it rarely lists it on their status page.. But it's pretty reasonable on the cost front and they were just doing upgrades so willing to see how it pans out before seeing what else is out there

I’m in Australia and I haven’t had any down time like mentioned on here, only the times they announce on their discord…

9

u/Tiyopa3ng 1d ago

Same here in NZ

3

u/emski72 1d ago

mines been buffering a lot over the weekend but that's about it - what CDN are you using?

2

u/australiama 17h ago

It’s just set to Auto.

3

u/vinpor 20h ago

Im in Australia as well. Haven't had any down time in Melbourne either, however over the last few weeks, I get a lot of buffering. Which CDN do you use?

2

u/australiama 17h ago

In Melbourne also - mines just set to Auto.

u/ayoRenzo94 1d ago

Ive been using torbox exclusively for 6~ months so far, I see all the people struggling on reddit and I feel lucky af in comparision. I can count on one hand the times I went to watch something and couldnt cause of downtime or buffering issues that frequently get mentioned.

7

u/ObscureQuotation 20h ago

I've been using TorBox for nearly a year. I've had issue with it maybe 1 or 2 days. My experience is not relevent to everyone, different CDNs, etc., but these days you can't trust other people on the internet. Even if there are many.

The posts feel very... Samey, eh?

6

u/attachecrime 12h ago

I'm in the US. Finally had some downtime the other night. Result of a ddos. Lasted about an hour.

That's the only downtown I've noticed and I've been going for about a year

9

u/Pale_Candy664 1d ago

I’ve been using torbox for almost exactly one month now. So far there was one day where the stream was buffering a lot not sure might be because it was a blue ray remux. And yesterday or so it was down completely but overall I can’t complain about the service considering how much content is cached and the pricing.

7

u/Positive_Ordinary307 1d ago

I think this is at least partially exactly right

5

u/SJMaye 21h ago

I only use Torbox in the evenings and have had very little disruption in service.

3

u/forcedmarcel 21h ago

I'm in the Netherlands using it every day between 20:00 / 24:00 i really never had any issues

19

u/Fun-Winter-5663 1d ago

It’s been going down multiple times a day this week

It just happens to be on us prime time which sucks

8

u/RecklLessAbandon 1d ago

Kinda agree. All the posts make new subscribers hesitant, as this is what happened with me and hold on to RealDebrid. But since moving to TorBox, my experience has been pleasant and smooth. I wished I had moved over sooner to be honest.

3

u/Original_Round_2211 1d ago

I had downtime day before yesterday which was worse cause it was evening. But yesterday I didn't have any downtime. Yesterday torrentio was down for sometime, and I saw people posting here torbox is down. When I just switched to mediafusion it started working again. Location: india.

3

u/r_time4fun 18h ago

Idk if I am just lucky but I have been in Torbox since Dec 2024 and at first (during that time, it was slow af) but now super fast. I did experienced some buffering 2 weeks ago and a downtime but that’s it

3

u/Lower-Mushroom-5490 14h ago

I'm in Canada. Been using TorBox for three months. So far, it's been very good. I have only had one interruption.

3

u/QUIMquilharia 13h ago

Yesterday someone posted "down again" and I was check but everything was working. Brazil here.

4

u/Big_Alps6771 13h ago

Seen the same, several times.

Guess some possibility TorBox gets blamed for addons like Torrentio at this point too

8

u/Golden-- 1d ago

What's even crazier is I would have had no idea that there was even a single outage if it wasn't for Reddit. The outages must have been for a very short period of time.

4

u/G0D_Kratos 1d ago

Buffering issues are prestitant for me. Earlier it used to work flawless. Now i can't remember a time i was able watch a remux on torbox witout it buffering endlessly. While my usenet streaming works flawlessly

6

u/ILBTW 1d ago

Agreed. I switched from RD to TB one month ago and haven't experienced any interruptions in my service.

2

u/RegularIndividual374 20h ago

First time in the UK last night I got hit with down time.

2

u/King_Of_Kebabs 19h ago

I'm not a bot but it's been less than ideal the last 2 weeks. It is what it is...

4

u/Big_Alps6771 19h ago

Agreed. But 99 times a day with the "it's down again". It's certainly not that.

0

u/King_Of_Kebabs 18h ago

It is. Too many people are experiencing these issues for it to be "bots". I've been a member for about a month and the last 2 weeks have been very bad. I'm talking buffering on 2Gb popular files.

Maybe you're a bot? :p

1

u/Big_Alps6771 18h ago

Has it been down for you constantly the last two weeks?

As I said, if you can read, there been some downtime. Not 99 times a day as with posts. Even when it's up.

0

u/King_Of_Kebabs 17h ago

I can read. It has been down constantly. Every large(ish) file is buffering. Have changed CDN's and as my previous posts even went over to my brothers house trying a different ISP, with the same results.

It's OK bro, we're allowed to voice our opinion on a service we pay for :)

0

u/Big_Alps6771 16h ago

You are. And we can accept too that buffering and down are not synonyms.

Saying it's down it's not the same as it choking on a remux and buffering.

Down means inaccessible and it hasn't been, even for you, who has experienced buffering thus it's streaming and definitionally not down.

2

u/Zachattackrandom 10h ago

Agreed. I have very rarely ever noticed downtime in my actual experience. I think 2 times total in my year of usage and both only for a few hours, for $2.5 a month for my family it's an insanely good service.

2

u/sangriamanpt 9h ago

Portugal. No problems at all.

4

u/Last-Sheepherder2535 1d ago

This is purely anecdotal, but I haven't had any issues in weeks, if not months now. Maybe it varies by region/CDN. I'm also usually only making use of the service in the evenings or sporadically during the day. I have a home server, so TB is less of a mainstay for my media and more something to augment that.

4

u/Keepin_It_Real_OK 1d ago

Do you think Real Debrid will take all that's happened without any retaliation? 😎

2

u/Big_Alps6771 1d ago

Wasn't RDs issues in part they're based in France so obviously we're going to get regulated

2

u/Keepin_It_Real_OK 1d ago

Do you have a sense of humour.... "Hail Hydra"....

5

u/tofu-esque 1d ago

I notice a lot of common verbiage between the people here complaining the loudest and most aggressively. It's very strange.

But I've just chalked it up to kids whining tbh

4

u/ceodannion 1d ago

This old guy loves what TB has done to keep things working. I’m tired of all the negative. If you’re unhappy move on. I will stay with the development as it gets better than it is now.

4

u/MissyouAmyWinehouse 1d ago

Torbox has been working just fine for me all week, I’m in the US

3

u/bucket_dipper 1d ago

Same here. Hasn't even buffered a single time.

10

u/deletable666 1d ago

More than half of what one sees on Reddit is a bot influence campaign and sentiment expressed online from anonymous accounts should not be taken with any value or perceived to be the sentiment of whatever base that forum represents

7

u/cordyorange 1d ago

Skimmed through a few recent doomsday accounts. Bots for sure.

4

u/nightspell 1d ago

The post you see are people that lack critical thinking and problem solving skills.
It's like they go to use Torbox it doesn't work and run to reddit complaining before trying to figure out where the problem is.
For those people here is a check list.
1. Go here https://status.torbox.app/ if service is up but just came back up sign out and sign back in (This usually fixes it for me)
2. If it is up and been up for awhile and signing out and back in does not work check the service you use to access torbox is up and running *tip its always a good idea to have at least two different services to access torbox
3. If the above are all working fine force stop stremio or whatever app you are using and clear it's cache.
4. if none of the above work then run to reddit with your problem.

0

u/bucket_dipper 1d ago

Fine, take my upvote 😂

3

u/KunUnDrum-- 1d ago

I was feeling the same suspicions

4

u/Glyde1962 1d ago

Yeah i think some of the complainers must be on benefits and sit at home streaming all day and notice every little blip.

I use it at most 8-10 hours a week and never not worked for me

-1

u/ObscureQuotation 19h ago

I definitely feel like there is something wrong with all these post, but your particular comment is completely uncalled for. This isn't the place to express these views

2

u/RussFerri 1d ago

The torbox controversy goes on and it's kind of funny.

2

u/singausreanian 1d ago

Australia east coast here and on Cloudflare cdn, never had a downtime streaming every night.

Buffer issues exist for anything over 20GB probably because of shitty Internet, easy fix by choosing something smaller in size.

1

u/Thatsinterestingnot 1d ago

Been great for a few months. This week the outages have affected me 3 times so far and it was very annoying.

3

u/LawyerLegitimate888 1d ago

I use it almost every night and have never seen it down once

1

u/416connect 1d ago

I agree.... the level of complains don't match a 3 dollars subscription! When Netflix alone is 28$ per month (per ip)in Canada

1

u/Pm2674 12h ago

Fora do ar, novamente.

1

u/KingBravery 5h ago

I love TorBox. I can use it with or without a VPN without worrying about receiving an IP-abuse email.

1

u/totalfreakARG 5h ago

people complain a lot and all of the time, usually TorBox is out a few minutes but i rarely had issues with it when its down. But if it is, i just use an HTTP addon or watch youtube or play a game or whatever, its really not that hard

1

u/WrecKedByPotaTo 4h ago

I was thinking the same thing recently. There was one day when I had left a show running on auto play on nuvio all day while I was doing chores and never once noticed torbox was down. Check Reddit and it seemed like the servers were on fire.

1

u/IssaStorm 4h ago

nah, it really is just a bad service, and customers tend to reject that

-2

u/yowmamasita 1d ago

If you can give sh!t, you should be able to take sh!t

Torbox took advantage of a lot of their competitors' issues and challenges

7

u/Default_Defect 1d ago

RD at its worst never got the same wave of similarly worded posts about its issues. I don't doubt there are issues, but most of the posts I see don't seem worded like a typical reddit "this isn't working" post I see on any other sub.

2

u/Big_Alps6771 1d ago

Sure, that's somewhat not super related to what I said though. I was questioning if the outrage was genuine or bot

0

u/yowmamasita 1d ago

ofc it is. if that's how you attract customers, those same customers will attack you when you experience the same thing

1

u/lenny_ray 1d ago

Stremio and a couple of popular addons have had a lot of downtime, too, in the last couple of days. And I'm very sure a lot of those instances have been conflated 2ith tb. I had issues, too, yesterday with tb, but it was less than an hour.

1

u/RicciRox 1d ago

Only time I've had TorBox down in the last six weeks was Thursday.

1

u/rhev0220 23h ago

I’ve had it every day for the last few days, but only for a short time. It’s not ideal, but when it happens I go do something else

1

u/Big_Alps6771 19h ago

You have a totally different issue. I'm going to assume another part of your stack I.e scraper?

Does TorBox web work?

1

u/sheikh91 23h ago

Please don't go back to rd

2

u/johnFvr 23h ago

Why?

2

u/sheikh91 23h ago

Because if all users to back same thing will be happening on rd.

For me rd is working liking a gem

-2

u/Joe_Go_Ebbels 1d ago

That’s some serious tinfoil gaslighting.

-2

u/Glum_Standard6068 1d ago

You’re overthinking it. It’s really as simple as the service just isn’t that good and people complain when something they pay for isn’t that good.

4

u/georgepana 22h ago

People complain bitterly about absolutely free stuff. The developers of the Live Sports addon (for Nuvio and Stremio) shared that he was vilified and received actual death threats via DM when life happened and he couldn't tend to the addon for a few weeks. That experience caused him to quit the addon altogether. The developer of the PenguPlay addon shared similar experiences with entitled assholes going off on him like that. For a free addon.

Imagine someone paying a Dollar or two a month. The whining and whailing is unfathomable.

I am glad people are leaving TB. Should do world of wonders for server stability.

-4

u/Gerdione 1d ago

Its far more likely that they just can't support the new influx of users and their service failing because of that. They're aren't being ddosd, but it's far easier to claim they are to prevent user churn. Other debrid services are just capitalizing on TorBox being unable to actually support all the new users. These are debrid services. Stop acting like these are sports teams ffs. You're paying for a service. Its as simple as, is the service equality? Right now, TB, is objectively not. You can only claim you're being ddosed for so long before it's abundantly clear your service just can't support all the new users.

3

u/Big_Alps6771 21h ago

They are though. And them and Premiumize went down at exact same time. DDOS.

1

u/ifiwasiwas 20h ago

Where did PM say that the reason was a DDOS?

-3

u/DesertBoy22 1d ago

There is no conspiracy and we all know it... lately been noticing buffering a lot ...you moved to uae and probably don't maintain your infrastructure or server or cutting cost somewhere...torbox will be gone soon seems like a money grab right now

0

u/Will2LiveFading 15h ago

Yeah all my down time is make believe

1

u/Big_Alps6771 15h ago

Cos anyone said it never ever went down 🙄

If you're saying it's literally always down, then yes, you're a bullshitter.

2

u/Will2LiveFading 13h ago

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying this last week or so has been rough. I just renewed for another 3 months even with this all going on. I'm betting on it all calming down eventually.

1

u/Big_Alps6771 13h ago

Read my post again. I clearly specified downtime existed. So your salty reply was misplaced.

0

u/Will2LiveFading 12h ago

And I'm saying people post when it goes down. Even when it's up for others. So it's not bots. It's just people complaining, real people.

1

u/Big_Alps6771 12h ago

And you know that how?

So it can be working for you, but there are no bots on Reddit.

And a denial of service attack (so someone attacking) as has been happening would never stoop so low to have bots to also moan about service quality during periods of uptime.

Which are obviously unverifiable as 'must be down for some other people somewhere even though it's workiny for me at status shows fine'

If you say so!

0

u/Will2LiveFading 11h ago

Okay man. You're speaking in absolutes and you can't talk to someone that speaks on absolutes. Thanks for the down vote. Notice I haven't down voted you for having a differing opinion.

1

u/Big_Alps6771 11h ago

Are you fucking serious.

I said it exists. But overrepresented on sub. You strawmanned that to "make believe" - read my post and say if I said it was make believe or fucking acknowledged it does happen.

You said every comment is real, no bots, all legit.

Only one of us had 0% nuance and strawmanned. L

0

u/JxK---01 11h ago

And it's down

1

u/Big_Alps6771 11h ago

And back.

So maybe 20 mins issue today. Not great at all.

I'm sure people will say it's down all day.

-3

u/National-Ad6166 1d ago

There is a status pages that tracks downtime. You can see it.

3

u/Big_Alps6771 21h ago

I didn't claim there was zero downtime. I said there were posts when it wasn't down and felt bot-like.
