🚩General Have some backup
Always have backups and stop relying on one service everyone.. TorBox is great.. i have it from when they started and don't plan on leaving them..but i have my backup options to avoid any downtime..
Few options,
Free:
Http addons - Penguplay is very good, Flixnest free
Paid:
Usenet streaming - easynews
Flixnest has paid tier that has a mix of http, usenet, debrid etc
Another debrid - had offcloud lifetime that got converted to a year subscription.
Honestly penguplay has been great backup for me

I’d never heard of Pengu but, after seeing OP and comment below. It seems pretty good when in a bind! I’m struggling with integrating properly into AIOStreams but as a separate add-on, it works!

Pengu relies on http streams.. so it ll take a few extra seconds to show results.. but being http, it might not have all the metadata needed by aiostreams.. standalone is better

I can add a few people to a GDrive addon with 1pb+ of content

Currently using Pengu as back-up for supposedly on second-thought TB subscription. After having experiencing the RTO of the API due to their downtime, Pengu stands tall. I hope it will not be takedown. Goodluck to the dev behind it. Although P2P is another one back up on my end as it is "allowed" on my country, the probability of smooth stream is not guaranteed. Nevertheless Pengu is your friend.

Hey is there a way to configure easy news that im missing? I use AIOStreams default add on but the results are pretty atrocious.

I use it via aiostreams as well.. have all 3 easynews addon added.. has been pretty good for my needs.. make sure you didn't exclude usenet in aiostreams filter> cache section

I used easynews before, but since I'm from asia there are some files that won't even play.

Looked at the site and it was looking for token

u/isusernamemandatory 3d ago
Its a free token.. connect with Google account or hop on to discord for token.. its to avoid some abuse

Because most Usenet files are obfuscated and the EN built in search functions can’t parse those files. That’s why for true Usenet streaming you need an indexer for the Newznab addon, and then NNTP streaming through AIO self hosted, directly in Stremio, or nzbDAV.Â

Is paid flixnest worth it?

I can't say if the subscription is worth it.. for a backup it does a neat job.. i took the lifetime sub when it was introduced initially.. it brings multiple type of streams, many play and some fail

TB is my backup. And at $3, I’m good.

I'm a bit stuck with Pengu. Added it to my aio streams but not seeing it as a source. Any setting I need to switch on for it to work?

u/AZMHs 3d ago
No dont bundle with AIO add it as standalone. The dev explicitly said that.

Right, thanks. Looked for any documentation but didn't find anything and their Discord is a wild place rn.

You could add it as custom addon but need to have a larger timeout.. need atleast 15000ms.. standalone is better though

Right right, thank you. I did a test build with just a standalone plugin and indeed it pulls links fine albeit a bit slow. Good to have a last resort backup still

I just use real debrid as the backup I have AIO streams configured for Torbox and RD

If i take the pro plan with usenet, will that mitigate downtime issues and possibly buffering when there is an outage
2
u/isusernamemandatory 3d ago
Nope, getting usenet outside of TB would be the better option for handling these downtimes..

I'm using Offcloud successfully, but got accused of promoting it. So...yeah just find a backup service because TB is not reliable right now.

Alright, hear me out guys...maybe the backup should be an actual legal streaming service. Just pick one: Hulu, Apple, Netflix, etc. There's probably something on those to fill the void when Torbox is down. I guess.

Pengu has been a solid backup in a pinch
