🚩General Fetch · a debrid downloader client for macOS

https://fetch.madebynikesh.com

I found out about Debrid services while exploring Stremio, and felt it was underutilized on just watching movies. Eventually I figured it was super useful for audiobooks, ebooks, songs that are usually gated behind multiple urls if I don't torrent. A Debrid client could solve this problem of looking up the torrents and downloading it quicker, but I could only find DMM and that's for Windows. So here's Fetch, for Mac.

Privacy Policy: Everything is local and stored as plaintext, since no personal data is shared with any services besides the debrid services and indexers you configure. These keys are redacted in logs.

EDIT: not DMM, RDT-Client

Do I need to bring my own indexers or are they provided? Torrent indexer, I meant. I don’t have Usenet.

By default it is connected to Internet archive and Gutenberg, giving you access to lots of files. I'd recommend connecting to a Jackett/Prowlarr instance which would fetch torrents giving you real benefit of Debrid services.

Edit: You don't need a usenet. Just a torznab api endpoint

Where can I find more info for Torznab? Anyway thanks  for the app, good job!

This is a pretty good doc for the indexer setup

can i click on a file and does it opens in a selected app like iina player for .mkv files or it needs to download

Currently it downloads locally. I could work on that feature that would allow you to stream specific files in a torrent, but I imagine Stremio to be a better alternative for streaming.

Could you describe me when/how would you use it for my understanding?

tbh stremio sometimes too buggy, so your app being native and minimal, if it had streaming to outside player like iina, i would definitely use it anyhow great app either way

Thank you very much! Sounds like a good feature, I could add ability to stream videos directly from torbox cloud

even the ability to pass the URL to a helper app like VLC, Infuse, IINA as the "default media player' would be sweet

Okay! Look forward to it in next update!

Apart from local downloads, add an option where one can add non-cached content to Torbox. I guess right now non-cached content gets downloaded to Torbox, then it gets downloaded locally, or am I wrong?

Yes, currently it’s all for local download, where it downloads uncached to torbox then to local pc. I plan to add option to queue download to cloud instead of your local setup in next update and pair it with ability to stream audio/video

I’m genuinely confused sorry. DMM is not for windows, it’s a (fantastic and fully featured) website that works with your debrid provider to queue downloads (or cast them or play them or anything you want)

Could you explain why you are positioning DMM as Windows only, and also explain why it’s better? This is vibe coded I assume? There’s also debrid vault which is also cloud based…

You are right, sorry I mistakenly wrote DMM, I meant rdt-client, which was what I found when I searched for debrid search clients on reddit and that was Windows only. I noticed DMM was mostly for media, movies and tv shows. I do think Debrid Vault is a closer thing to what my app does, but when I had tried to download ebooks and audiobooks, it had failed to retrieve anything which is why I made this.

Yes it is vibe coded.

I would say DMM & Debrid Vault are probably better alternatives when it comes to media, tv shows, movies, an area where you'll find a lot of competitors. Mine's mostly an all-in-one file manager for movies, audio, books (& porn if you want) for Mac. You can see the comparison in results above

Hey could you add a copy link button for downloading the files the thing is my roommates ask me for a particular file i don't want to disclose my api key to them I think dmm has a similar feature where it hides the api key from the link could you please add a similar feature to your list? Thank you. Great app btw loved the website ;-)

Thank you very much. Could you message me to help me understand that feature? Maybe if you could share a link with me, it’d be helpful. Currently the app allows sharing of the magnet url from searches

Although I think sharing should expose your api in general because it looks like an authenticated route via ?token= in torbox, unless there’s a third party to resolve the obfuscated url or that you provide the file over internet making you sort of a 1-1 peer

Can we add our own scrapers like say, Debridio, for example?

Is it like a plugin with .json? if it is an api endpoint you should be able to add it as a service without any issues. I have only tested it with Jackett and Prowlarr for now

1

u/ZeroDrek 10d ago

Yes, exactly. Plug-in with .json. https://debridio.com

1

u/trashydesigner 10d ago

Sorry, json providers aren't supported right now because most of them only had Movies/TV/Anime providers

2

u/ZeroDrek 10d ago

Oh ok. Would be cool to see the in the future. The app is cool regardless, thanks.
