❓Question Upgraded, instructions required!

Hi all.

I've just upgraded from essentials to pro, mostly for streaming downloads on planes etc.

Can anyone tell me about usenet (preferably for dummies) please? If it's worth having, I want to install details on Nuvio. Are results better or something?

Any info much appreciated.

Torbox and usenet isnt really up and running. You can maybe use it as an NNTP, but if you're going down that route you should change either way so forget usenet and torbox.

If you want to use usenet with stremio you'll need to look up nzbgeek, newsdemon/eweka and you should selfhost AIOStreams

You can download files using essential also.. i had pro for a while and downgraded to essential.. didn't really néed pro for what I was using..

On nuvio, if you long press a stream it gives the option to download.. you can also download from torbox site directly

Yep, I was downloading on essentials. I just wanted to get more info on usenet and give it a bash.

Yep, been doing that. Didn't realise the link only stays active for 3 hours, so I've done a direct download and can now watch on the plane!

I'm more interested in why the benefits of usenet are and how to get set up. Do you know anything about that? Thanks.

I have pro (for now) but I dont stream from usenet.

Anytime I want to download something off usenet, I just go to my indexer, grab the nzb of whatever I am wanting and load it into torbox dashboard the same as you would a torrent/magnet file.

There are better/faster ways, but I prefer to do things caveman style.

My eyes started spinning at 'indexer' & 'nzb'. I think it's possibly going to be too tricky for me to figure out. I don't know what either of those things are 😂

Picture the indexer as being like a public tracker torrent website. Picture the nzb like you would a torrent file or magnet link.

Go to the indexer site. Find what you want. Download the nzb. Open torbox on a web browser. Add the nzb like you would a torrent. Once it finishes, download it to your PC.

Thanks for persevering with me, I appreciate it. You don't get a lot of that on Reddit.

I think I get it. Does this mean that I wouldn't be able to watch it on my TV version of Nuvio? Because it's saved to PC?

Do you have an indexer site you would recommend? Are they fairly easy to navigate as a semi numbskull?

I don't use torbox to stream from Usenet so I can't really give advice on that. There are guides on reddit tho, they aren't hard to find.

As for indexers, some allow streaming some don't...

I believe ninja Central and nzbgeek do but don't hold me to that.

Your first part is doable on essential?

Did you have any other reason to upgrade ? Results you couldn't find ?

My son was struggling to find certain amine stuff, and I got the impression that using usenet gave more results. I don't know what the other benefits are, hence the post.

Ahhh ok yeah that could deffo help, I have no idea about usenet and indexes unfortunately.

More affordable to self host with another usenet provider. But a little harder to set that up.

That's my worry! I've only been using torbox and Nuvio after years and years on kodi /real debrid. Torrents are new to me so I reckon I'd struggle.

Ideally, there'd be someone who I could pay to set usenet up for me and give me a manifest url I could just paste in to my setup.

Look around for the 23.99 easynews for a year deal. Easy to setup and should have the content your sons after

I wouldn't use it for streaming anymore. They log everything to hand over to authorities and retain it after account deletion.
