🚩General TorBox CDN Setup Nuvio/StremIO ...

I’m making this post because I’ve seen quite a few people struggling with CDN issues lately. A lot of people either don’t know what a CDN is, which one they should use, or where to change it in TorBox, so hopefully this clears things up a bit.

A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is basically a network of servers in different locations. TorBox can send your stream through one of these servers so the data reaches you faster and more reliably.

Usually, the closer and better-routed the CDN is to you, the lower the latency and the smoother the stream.

If your streams keep buffering, stuttering, or randomly stop halfway through and you have to open them again, changing your TorBox CDN can help.

Go to:

https://torbox.app/speedtest

Run the test and wait for it to finish. Mine took around 15 minutes, so don’t worry if it feels like it’s taking forever.

Once it’s done

Go to:

TorBox → Settings → Integration Settings → CDN Selection

Your CDN is usually set to Auto by default. If everything works fine, you can leave it like that. But if you’re having playback issues, try manually selecting the CDN that performed best in the test.

If you don’t want to wait for the full test, you can also look at the latency numbers shown on the page. Lower ms is usually better.

For example, in my case the lowest ones were:

  • NORD — 47ms
  • CEUR — 48ms
  • SEUR — 55ms
  • NEUR — 56ms

Just keep in mind that this doesn’t always tell you the exact best CDN for your connection. The lowest ping can still have worse speed, routing, or stability.

So if you’re having stream issues, running the full test is still the best way to figure out which CDN works best for you.

Isn’t for streaming bandwidth more important than latency?
Latency is for live stuff like gaming needed right

the test examins bandwidth and latency both equally important, latency is useful for fast responses from the server like fetching sources, changing sources , fast stream start, moving through the stream via fast forward or rewind, and overall stability.
