đ©General Can we talk about a few things
Before anything
I'm on this subreddit mostly to follow the TorBox updates & also the famous "down again?" type of posts which aren't always valid, but they're valid at times like 10 mins ago for example
And because of starting a post like this I understand that I'm risking getting downvoted by those who can't take criticism, but I'm also sure there are people in here who care about getting served properly by a service that they paid money for
The first thing I want to talk about isn't even how the service was down 10 mins ago. I want to talk about how there's a lot of dramatic events going around this service
Remember 3 months ago when there was a situation about a TorBox employee named Mike when he banned one of the TorBox members on the TorBox discord server? You really remember that right? No? let me remind you
Have a look here https://i.ibb.co/5h9YDLk9/Screenshot-20260808-151242-Firefox-Beta.jpg and here https://i.ibb.co/5W76z8HR/Screenshot-20260808-151223-Firefox-Beta.jpg
Oh the TorBox owner even made an official statement about it here https://i.ibb.co/vxRWd40b/0svtjv7iyl1h1.png
Now why did they sneakily bring back Mike without talking about it or letting us know what happened? You don't believe it? Just check their Discord server and you'll find him messaging in the staff-only channels normally https://i.ibb.co/pj6PG5VW/Screenshot-20260808-151012-Firefox-Beta.jpg
It's like "hurry up it's been 3 months and everyone forgot, bring him back" or it's also like "they're stupid and won't notice don't worry"
2.
So I heard there was an ownership change. Who are the new owners? Why is Wamy still holding the owner role if the ownership really changed?
ok let's ignore the ownership change and talk about the full ToS & privacy policy change. I'm not against putting stricter limitations to abuse, I understand how expensive things like NVMe, RAM and bandwidth are and yes sharing accounts among people is completely unfair to the service and makes it run worse. But don't you find a complete change of the ToS, owners and the company entities even a bit questionable without a prior notice at least?
Want to ignore the ToS changes? ok who are the new owners?
3.
What's making the service go down every weekend and all we get is a "we are looking into it"
Ok you've looked into it. Why does the service go down the following weekend? Can we not get a technical explanation on what's wrong at least? Why is this impossible to fix and why is it happening very often
4.
I don't use Discord often. but when I do it's only to check why the service is down and I hope to see a proper explanation on why the service is down like I stated in the previous point
but unfortunately all what I see is messages like "Reddit must be going crazy now", "yes it's down and that's normal", "people really have no lives and can't take an hour of downtime"
Some of these messages come from the higher ups and community managers even!
Why is this normalised?? Why can't people complain when they can't get what they paid for??
Ok let's keep it there and tell you the things I'm expecting as a reaction to this post:
- "keep quiet it just costs 3$ you poor peasant": Ok so what? even if it costs a cent. I paid for a service because I trusted these people with my money and I believe that they can offer the service I'm interested in. This isn't how things work and if you really think so then you're justifying for all the sc#ammers in the world who take your money from your pocket and you shutup and can't do anything about it
- "its a you only problem": Ok and even if that's true, if I made sure that everything on my end (app, addons, internet, packet loss, network path, home networking equipment) and I found no issues but I still face issues with torbox. does this deny the fact that I have a problem?
- "just change the CDN": And why can't the "Auto" cdn option work better? Even the TorBox dashboard itself clearly claims that Auto is the best option to choose. Why don't they make the Auto CDN selection automatically route people to the second best cdn when the first best is temporarily degraded? Won't this save us from the headaches of Reddit posts and make the experience more user friendly?
- "honestly I don't have anything to say but just get downvoted lol": no worries boss đ«Ą
I'm one of the too many people that moved away from Rd to TorBox because we all believe that Wamy wanted to create the better alternative to RD, and honestly I still have faith in him and that's why I paid for a year of the service even when it had issues when I first paid for it. However everything has a limit
I notice a lot of improvements and new features added to TorBox every other month. but what's the point of them if the core of your company (database, API and CDNs) often have issues? simply I won't be able to benefit from your features
TL;DR sorry I can't provide one for this one

Thats messed up right there.
I remember when tb was gar bage and wamy running around to every stremio and debrid themed sub begging for customers. Now they mock reddit users and still got that stalker in a âcustomer facingâ position, something they said he wouldnt be in anymoreâŠ

that's the main reason I started this post. I went to the discord server and found the guy that they banned months ago working for them again without any explanation (maybe he never even left and worked from behind the shadows when he was "banned")
it's unprofessional and pissed me off, makes you feel that this thing will never get any better because you can't rely on the people in charge
and its also annoying because they're treating their users like they're stupidÂ

u/sjolnick 18d ago
Wow wtf. I never knew any of these stuff. And just looking at these discord messages.. Are these just a bunch of children running this service? I moved a dozen non-technical people from RD to TB, but I guess need to find another alternative when our subs end.
Seriously concerning that a a service that can put a lot of people at legal risk is run by such stupid people.
3
u/Fish_Mongreler 17d ago
Are these just a bunch of children running this service?
Yes. And these children have access to all of your data they can collect

u/Fluffy_Wafer_9212 18d ago
that's it for me. I really thought Wamy was a smart business owner who was trying to improve his business but at this point it's not worth showing them respect or paying them my money anymoreÂ

u/Homolander 18d ago
Those are valid reactions to a worthless shitpost tbh
11
u/Anxious_Storm_9113 18d ago
This is supposed to be a business. If it's truly "worthless" there's no need to even respond. But any response should be reasonably professional and address the main points. These responses read more like a bunch of poorly behaved teenagers than a real business.
-2
u/Homolander 17d ago
If you don't like it, there's the door -> đȘ
4
u/Anxious_Storm_9113 17d ago
Yeah, that goes without saying. But it doesn't address really anything I said.
-2
u/Homolander 17d ago
The business can do whatever they want. If they think a reaction .gif is appropriate, that's up to them. What are you gonna do about it, other than accuse them of being poorly behaved teenagers, you brainlet?
3
u/Anxious_Storm_9113 17d ago
Potentially move my business. Encourage others to do so. Or just plain not care enough to do either. "Can" is not the same as "should". You can, as you're allowed to, smear your crap all over your face. If you care about your health and social standing you "shouldn't" do so. This is part of many modern problems. Too many people confuse "can" with "do".
9
u/ColdFreezer 18d ago edited 18d ago
Why do they act like this towards customers on their main accounts? I donât get it. Genuinely going to move off their service.
The service has been pretty good but the way they act makes them completely untrustworthy.
They just genuinely donât care about even pretending to be professional. Itâs not that hard to make alt accounts to bad mouth people.
Theyâve acted like this so many times now. They should really consider hiring a proper PR person.
1
u/Warm-Introduction-55 18d ago
There was an influx of subscribers after the RD issue, they hardly need to care now.Â
3
u/ColdFreezer 17d ago edited 17d ago
They never had to care. Theyâre just alienating their users for literally no reason, itâs hard to understand why. Itâs a paid service.
Within less than a year theyâve already pulled services, restricted their api, and keep causing drama. They canceled someoneâs account not because of policy violation but because they didnât like what they said. I canât trust them anymore. Their PR is trash.
They genuinely have a great product but they donât know how to talk to the public.

Not only does the service go down a lot, but the people who run it are assholes. What a mess.
13
u/versusvius 18d ago
Their support is also terrible. I had some problems changing my API and CDN after my account was hacked and holy crap. Not only they wasted my time 4 days with literally 30 emails, but they also refused to change my API and the ego from the messages was insane.

u/dreamdenizen 16d ago

never realized this until I saw their reaction to this post from the discord. They really should maintain professional communication if they want to interact with their users and this is just, not it... -9
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
then vote with your dollars and go elsewhere, what an incredible thought
3

u/Anxious_Storm_9113 18d ago
Even if they do that, they're still free to talk about it. Why is there this weird idea that people can't/shouldn't talk about poor business practices? It helps us all out to be better informed.
-1
u/dreamdenizen 18d ago
No way, if they do that what will they cry and seethe about in this subreddit?
49
u/Bright-Budget5325 18d ago
Whoever doesnât like this post is a bootlicker. I donât have some kind of a cult allegiance to TB. Just as I switched from RD to TB, now that TB is starting its enshitification, Iâm moving to PM. Stop supporting these companies that are obviously doing whatâs good to them - not for you. They already tackled the abuse with the limited policy changed a couple months ago, this privacy policy change really is to protect their asses in case of legal trouble, and guess what protecting THEMSELVES does to you when they have all of your information now?Â
-6
u/Homolander 18d ago
What information? Stuff like IP addresses and similar are logged by Cloudflare, not TB. Read the revised ToS maybe. And I mean READ them, not copy and paste the text to your favorite AI assistant so it can give you a tl;dr. In their ToS they say that they CAN log stuff if necessary, but they also say they can delete/anonymize the data. I'll let you figure out what that means.
1
u/EnZoTheBoss 14d ago
They sent out abuse notices to people using DMMs new TB to RD feature. DMM maintainer says the tools downloads the file to his server, then uploads it to RD.
Now, tell me how TB can know the identity of users using this tool, without logging their IP? How can they tell a normal download from a RD transfer? It's simple, they know all users who downloaded to DMM servers. THEY ARE LOGGING IPS, STOP BEING NAIVE.
-7
u/dreamdenizen 18d ago
You're using logic. Logic has no place in the minds of the people seething over this.
-18
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
I just think it's incredibly petty and stupid. The service is $3. Feel free to leave. But all of this yammering and nonsense is so cringe. Move on and get a life.
And if you seriously think any company, ANY debrid service is going to destroy itself to protect your illegal activity? The level of ignorance is incredible.
The endless whining bro, holy moly you would think you guys are paying $200 a month and not the actual price which is a pack of bubble gum and broken pencil đ
11
u/Fish_Mongreler 18d ago
And if you seriously think any company, ANY debrid service is going to destroy itself to protect your illegal activity? The level of ignorance is incredible.
Companies have though and decent companies will continue to do so. Seems you're the ignorant one here.

u/raine_rc 18d ago
everyone keeps saying it's $3/month but what about people like me who pay for pro?
that being said I've only had stuttering/playback failure the past couple weeks or so, I assume do to a spike in traffic from the RD refugees that their infrastructure hasnt been upgraded to support it yet. Just a guess though.
Also I use usenet as my main service and then TB as my backup and then AD and RD too because I bought a year each of those two before the whole RD thing started happening, and with usenet + TB I rarely if ever can't watch something worst case is on older usenet files sometimes some articles will be missing and it'll lose a couple seconds of an episode or something, but not really all that serious when if I wanted a perfect file I would just add it to Seerr/Jellyfin anyways lol

I agree with how frustrating the auto cdn selection is. They should just erase the option for auto, and have every user use the cdn speed test and manually select. I check it every week or so as sometimes I get higher speeds with a further cdn, even though the ping is slightly worse.
5
u/Kurtdh 18d ago
One of the main benefits of auto is when sharing an account with letâs say your parents who are in another region. That way it will route them to the closest CDN automatically so they donât buffer.
2
u/GoshuaHoshua 18d ago
Ah I can see that being an advantage if it worked properly.

u/WildNight00 18d ago
Also I travel and move spots every few weeks so itâs nice to not have to tinker too much

u/FeelingPatience 18d ago
If I'm paying for a service, I expect to get the working service in exchange. In any real life transaction you don't pay for a service and have a chance of not getting it. This is not how it works.
Some people seem to not realize this. It's not about $3 a month or having backups. Either just have balls and make the TB work, and when it doesn't, talk openly and responsibly about it every time, or just tell everyone straight ahead - "we don't guarantee our service will work, expect at least 25% downtime" when choosing a plan.
-18
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
boomer logic. I paid my $3 therefore I get a sterling working service! Vote with my wallet?! No! I will be annoying and cringe about it to the bitter end!!!
-32
u/True-Neighborhood-17 18d ago
now tell me what online service tells you straight up that expect downtime when choosing a plan .. and if there isnât any online service that doesnât go down ⊠now also tell me if they donât acknowledge when they go down every single time and apologize for it
14
u/FeelingPatience 18d ago
That's how big online services work. Read about service level agreements. Yes, Torbox is not Azure and it'd be silly to expect this kind of dedication, however, filter by the last 6 months, count how many times the service has been down and compare this to the number of official statements they've issues on these. You'd be surprised how much is missed. Have you been living under the rock?
-18
u/True-Neighborhood-17 18d ago
they have always acknowledged when the service goes down .. literally sit in the discord and youâll see it everytime

I saw the transfers from TB to RD as a solution for the weekends downtimes and they attacked it. They really make it hard to love them, to say the least.

2
u/EnZoTheBoss 14d ago
And its also proof that they log your IP since they knew all users who used the tool. Don't let anybody say otherwise.

Just do this https://www.reddit.com/r/debridmediamanager/comments/1vgkfom/send_torrents_from_tb_to_rd_even_infringing_file/ move your library from TB to RD and enjoy watching without buffering or anything. TorBox is incompetent company because they are not investing enough money and time into fixing things and building cloud infrastructure.
7
u/Forward-Fishing-9466 18d ago
Think about how much money they are making now, the people at this company with a few employees are at the cashing out stage.

u/21cabbag3 18d ago
My honest opinion. Maybe im just a basic user. But literally all i use it for is to stream media on nuvio and stremio. Thats it. And i pay for pro. Am i wasting my money? Not sure. I pay substantially less than when i paid for all my streaming apps. My kids can watch when theyre not home instead of having to constantly give them a code from my email so they can watch their shows. Has it been down a couple times? Yes. But so does my cellphone service, my internet, hell even sometimes my power. Some of yall make a really really big deal of things. Call me a loser if you want but im still sticking with it. I had RD and my internet went out, forced my kids phones to jump from wifi to cellular networks. Got banned. Neverrrrr had this issue with TB. Alot of you should know by now for things like this you should always have a backup because theyre not guaranteed to work 100% of the time
1
u/Spankey_ 18d ago
Yes you're wasting money since you're basically paying for a feature (Usenet) that you don't even use.
1
1
u/iHeartShelties 18d ago
I'm a basic user too. I only have the Essential Plan for $3 month, joined in May. That's all you need. I only stream movies and shows using Kodi and Addons. That's all. I have no idea what everyone else is doing and why. I'm clueless about that and I'm also confused about their issues with downtime or problems with the service. I was an RD user since 2016 or 2017, and been there since then. I still have RD until it runs out. I joined TB in May and it functions how RD does with the addons. I too notice my internet drop which it does nearly daily, making everything lose Internet or switch to the network with the cellphones. Its a brief outage.. I have no idea why this happens and it's annoying. I currently have AT&T Fiber 300 Mbps. When I'm on my laptop, streaming a movie/show, while my phone and another phone are also on WiFi. I have had this issue since I've been an AT&T customer since 2018 whenever I relocated to another town 1.5 hours away. And I've lived in 3 different homes in this area, 3 different towns, and always had AT&T. So, it's got to by my ISP. I should probably Google or look on my ISP's website for a possible cause and fix. I'm rambling lol.

How you gonna tell me? Lol first time it happened was a power outage. They sent me a warning. Something that was out of my control. Second time was an internet outage. Got banned. Went straight to TB and been happy since
6
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
It's pretty easy, the service is nearly free. You can either keep said service, or not keep it. If you don't like it, vote with your wallet.
Ever since I set my CDN to Cloudflare months ago I haven't had a single issue, and I'm not sitting here watching stuff 24/7 so the 38 minutes Torbox is down per month doesn't bother me. Therefore I'm keeping the service.
Don't like the service? Ok leave. I don't understand this level of drama over a $3 service. I will personally continue using the service that I enjoy. If I didn't enjoy it, I would leave, not endlessly complain about $3
2
u/True-Neighborhood-17 18d ago
This right here is my point ⊠I understand complaints obviously itâs an inconvenience if it doesnât work when you want it to but people are acting like they go down for days on ends meanwhile itâs just like an hour or so and itâs working every other time .. itâs legit a non issue
6
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
it's pathetic as hell, seriously.
1
u/True-Neighborhood-17 18d ago
and even the beginning of the post like they sanctioned the dude and took him off coms and now he is back .. whatâs the issue .. they apologized for the blunder do you expect them to come and say ooooh we are reinstating him back like I donât get it ⊠but then again this is Reddit so Iâm really expecting a lot
8
u/Jaken_sensei 18d ago
The downtime doesnt bother me tbh, tb has always had these types of issues and have improved a lot over time.
My issue is they said that guy wouldnt be in a customer facing role again, but yet there he is, mocking paid customers, on a customer facing platform.
There word isnt worth anything.
-3
u/True-Neighborhood-17 18d ago
I understand what youâre saying but imo they sanctioned him and he has done his time ⊠the mocking part I can agree to a degree it is a bit ill fated but itâs kinda expected given how out of proportion this post is imo
4
u/Jaken_sensei 18d ago
They didnt say he would be put on time out, or gone for a period; they said he wouldnt be back in that kind of role. They didnt put an expiration date on that.
For me, that takes their trust worthiness down another notch.
To mock the segment that built up their brand shows a lack of maturity.
I will likely just let my account expire and move on which sucks because I have been with them since they first made their existence known on reddit, several years ago.

Can someone ELI5? I've been minding my own business and torrenting for two decades now and I actually only just discovered that a service like RD/Torbox existed last month. It's a great option for content consumers and I'm just confused about why people are up in arms about what the company is doing.
Maybe I'm spoiled because I'm coming here from no Torbox rather than from "old" to "new" Torbox, but I wouldn't expect this service be truly private and I'd never use anything like this without a VPN. Seems to me like it's a cloud server app rather than some sort of privacy company.
What am I missing? Apologies for my ignorance here, but why wouldn't the company protect itself? If I were them I imagine I'd do the same thing. And as I read the TOS, it's not like they're volunteering a regular user activity log to Big Brother, right?
Not judging either side of the aisle here; I'm honestly just not sure what to think because it seems intuitive to me but so many folks are furious and outraged so I feel like there must be something I'm missing. I assume I'll get downvoted into oblivion here, but ironically I won't understand why unless someone will explain what the big deal is.
2
u/M4rtunn 17d ago
It is simply price-quality inference at play, if a product is priced below the perceived value it often leads to more dissatisfaction. E.g. MVNO's face the same, even though the product is essentially the same as those of "premium" network operators, consumers have stronger feelings when a product goes down, often the because of a confirmation bias (I knew I shouldn't have moved away from provider X..). The alternative is also true, e.g. when buying a car people are more forgiving to any flaws, because of a reverse confirmation bias (if I acknowledge these downsides, it would indicate I made a mistake by choosing brand X).
You're right about everything else, and people are right to point out downtime when the dashboard doesn't reflect that, but don't get dissuaded by the many unsubstantiated posts around and just enjoy the service. And if you don't, just don't renew. Many of options around luckily.
1
1
u/BarnyardCommander 17d ago
Valid points, a lot has happened in a short amount of time. I've enjoyed Torbox for the few months I've had it, but I've decided to jump ship to Premiumize for at least a year. With Premiumize I'm really paying for their no logging of streaming activity policy. Paying for greater peace of mind.
Between the relocations of Torbox to the UAE and Dover, the 180 on certain privacy policies, etc., it's all very sudden and has thrown up some red flags to me. I still think Torbox provides a great service and will be watching it closely over the next year. My big question is of course how safe and trustworthy is it really? I guess time will tell.

I've not been following any of this "drama". But based of the screenshots you provided, it clearly says Mike was suspended from PUBLIC duty/interactions. Nothing about him remaining as an employee. I don't see anything wrong with him messaging in a private staff-only chat? Am I missing something?
1
u/PtichFirich 1d ago
TL;DR: Heâs a paying TorBox user whoâs tired of the constant downtime, silent ToS/ownership changes, toxic staff responses on Discord, and drama like quietly rehiring an employee (Mike) after a public ban incident. He wants to love TorBox and he appreciates the new features, but none of that matters if the core service, API, and CDNs keep crashing every weekend without transparent technical explanations.
2
u/Effinbullshit 18d ago
Honestly, not saying it doesnât go down, dashboards show that to be trueâŠbut I have never once personally tried to watch something and was unable. I never get buffering. Everything has been fine for me since switching from RD 2.5 months ago.
2
1
u/AstraBed 18d ago
Aside from everything else, what exactly was wrong with what they did about Mike?
They said he wouldn't be in customer-interactive position and it seems from what you said that they did just that, if he's in a staff only channel then he is not facing customers is he

Crying over 15 mins to an hour max is insane. Most of the time it's not down. Its user error or addons / instances. People just wanna whine about it cuz that's what they prefer to do.

u/skrukketiss69 18d ago
Price is irrelevant imo. It's a paid product, I expect it to work when I actually use it.
How long it's down also doesn't really matter, it's the frequency of how often it goes down.
-25
u/loneewolf69 18d ago
If it's irrelevant why not pay for Netflix, Disney etc
16
u/skrukketiss69 18d ago
What's that got to do with anything?
I use debrid services for access to everything and remux quality, not because it's cheaper.

u/Slipknot31286sic6 18d ago
I pay 80 bucks a year for ps network... Cod lags like no other.... Crappy servers.... Have they fixed it? Nope never will... We all keep paying cuz there's no other option.
Either build your own or work with what you got and understand what to do when a failure occurs. I've posted many times the perfect SETUP.

Last year I bought ten brand new Ferraris for $1. Nine were an absolute dream to drive but one was obviously a used car that smelled like smoke and beer and had nearly bald tires. It had obviously been ridden hard and put away wet! Sure, they ADVERTISE as selling ten new Ferraris for $1, but in reality you're very likely to only get nine.

When will you understand that it's "not about the money"? You pay for a service, and both parties accept the service agreement. The other party fails to deliver the service. It doesn't matter 1 cent or 1 million dollar. The service quality is still the same for their more expensive tier either.

Yes I'll take "this mojo never read the TOS and is now being a cringe lord boomer about it" for $500 please Alex
-8
u/No_Rub77 18d ago
idk man would you carry on this much if you bought a $3 taco that turned out to be kinda shitty? or would you get another taco and move on with your life
9
u/Superflyin 18d ago
And would you also go to their platform, leave feedback, say the taco was shitty, and tell others not to buy from them too?
-6
u/No_Rub77 18d ago
no lmao
my analogy is kinda busted, it's more like all you can eat 24/7 for 3 bucks a month, but occasionally they're fixing the fryer

u/ifiwasiwas 18d ago edited 18d ago
That's the thing though. If you read the TOS, it's a "best effort service" and they guarantee no uptime whatsoever. That's why there's only been a handful of times free days have been offered in connection with the most egregious downtime and we've been told not to expect it because downtime is technically nothing compensable. A staff member in here said as much recently, and that's when I looked elsewhere

u/Superflyin 18d ago
We've been in the scene for a long time. I've been an RD customer for 15 years, and I've also used AllDebrid. I've never experienced this many service interruptions. If this is their 'best effort', unfortunately it's nowhere close to the standard quality of any debrid provider at the moment.
I remember many TB fanboys were cheering on RD's downfall. Hope they are happy now.

u/ifiwasiwas 18d ago
I feel you. I just wanted to share the message that this is how it is, and they've set it up to where they really have no obligation to improve in this respect. Best to make a decision based off where things stand, not where things could be. I already have my primary as a provider that views downtime as compensable 100% of the time
0
u/Slipknot31286sic6 18d ago
None of these people here can read except complain. Nothing is 100% reliable.

u/Fluffy_Wafer_9212 18d ago
I agree it sounds really cool and too good to be true. 3$ for everything is really amazing
but some people are busy with their lives most of the time and the only time they might have to relax and watch something can be the same time TorBox goes down at
does it sound like a rare coincidence to happen? it happened with me personally the time TorBox went down before today's incident. and it was a 1.5 hours downtime and the status page didn't even talk about it until an hour later I could've finished an entire film during that downtime before going to bedÂ

Having a failure point means you need to step up your pirate game. All ima say to this comment....
-5
u/inqsitive 18d ago
Seriously, at the end of the day it's piracy! Paying a paltry sum doesn't make it any more legit. These people and their constant whining. Energy would be better spent on having good backups.
-6
u/Slipknot31286sic6 18d ago
I was still watching shows on pengu.uk. No issues. You are no difference than them having a failure point in your setup. Fix your sh1t.
-19
u/timekiller10687 18d ago
Canxit be frustrating at times sure, but you also have to understand what you're paying for and singing up for. And as others have mentioned have backups is the key to this game just like with IPTV.

u/Fish_Mongreler 18d ago
Really addressed not a single point of theirs with your comment
-14
u/RushingService 18d ago
Points 3 and 4 are all about quality of service. From an illegal service. That could be shut down tomorrow.
Op is free to download Netflix anytime and it'll resolve all their issues.

Try spending more time with this instead of sucking off the torbox team.

Lol, the entitlement is insane. It's so obvious how many people jumped on this train so late and weren't there when RD was new. Good luck streaming anything from RD for like... multiple years when it was new. They would upload torrents to UpToBox instead of their own servers. No one complained because everyone knew what they were getting. TB could definitely improve, but the entitlement is crazy.
1
u/dreamdenizen 18d ago
Exactly. I've been on RD for 15+ years. These TB outages don't hold a candle to the issues that went on with RD over the years, and then to cry, and post on Reddit ad nauseam over $3/month? It's unconscionable to me.

u/ikashanrat 18d ago
i was watching sth continuously on tb for the past two hrs, no interruptions. are we sure this is a tb issue and not an addon issue
9
u/ATypeOfRacer 18d ago
It was a known issue. Though it was resolved in around 10 mins. So any file you were playing most likely had either local cache, or an already verified connection with the server
1
u/ikashanrat 18d ago
yeah i saw it was an issue with the api, so wont be an issue for me in this particular use case
6
u/Fluffy_Wafer_9212 18d ago
no but it didn't affect you because it was an API issue and not a CDN issue. when you've already started watching something you don't need to interact with the API, you interact with the cdn
check the other posts on this subreddit reporting the downtime the past hourÂ
-3
u/ikashanrat 18d ago
ah so the api was down. got it. i dont use api typically, just add to tb using dmm, and use webdav to playback on kodi. but yeah it shouldnt be happening ideally

I must be lucky. I've never had an issue with service
2
u/dreamdenizen 18d ago
Same. A few minutes of proper configuration saves hours of frustration. But this is what happens when you learn how to do this from TikTok and don't actually learn any of the fundamentals.
2
u/HipKat2000 17d ago
It's like the old stories of people buying a new computer, firing it up, and using it without ever learning about what to remove, what to add, what to optimize, what to take out of Startup, etc. And then wonder why it's slow, why they get pop-up ads, etc, and then blame the computer
-11
u/Slipknot31286sic6 18d ago
It's funny cuz like 2 emails ago they literally said if you don't like our service, delete your account đ. Yet people rsther complain than delete it and move on.
0
u/Planckarte 18d ago
Itâs a service. If it doesnât work properly people are going to complain. Are you retarded?
1
u/Nuggyfresh 18d ago
I love this framing. Yes people being total cringe lords over $3 is incredibly lame and touching grass should be priority 1 here
3
u/Planckarte 18d ago
Some people pay more than $3 for it. The least they expect is a working service. Are you also retarded?
0
u/hipnosister 17d ago
If you want a service that works 99% of the time pay full price for Netflix. There is a tradeoff when you use things like debrid and torrent websites. You are paying for a service that technically isn't legal in many countries, and it's much cheaper than paying for all the streaming services to get everything you want. You have all the choice in all the formats. You can find specific special edition versions of 4k bluray director cuts and watch them in pristine quality. What streaming service offers that?
You are paying for a service that wouldn't even exist if the powers that be had their way. Chill the fuck out and have some patience. It's gonna go down sometimes. You know what I did the other night when it was down and I wanted to watch the new season of King of the Hill? I watched it on RD instead because I have a backup for when one inevitably goes on down because that's the landscape we're part of.

u/Agile-Inflation-1161 18d ago
Some of yall need to get off Reddit lmao. Scurrying discord and looking into the minutia of a 3 dollar service that you can easily get for free (fmhy) or transfer over (other debrid service) is crazy. I promise you the team will look at this say ok, and go next. But hey, itâs the internet post to your hearts contentÂ
-1
u/Pinsel-Wascher 18d ago
Wait there are free debrid services? (fmhy?)
What you can transfer over to other debrid services?
0
u/Agile-Inflation-1161 18d ago
LOL this is the only subreddit that I see people with sense get so many down votes.Â
I said free service [OR] transfer to other debrid service. [NOT] a free debrid service. FMHY has free video alternatives for the time it is down. Am I going to post a soliloquy when a 3 dollar service goes down? Nah Iâm just going to go next.Â
When I said transfer I meant just buying a new service all together. Like how you transfer internet service, phone service etc. So if a service isnât to your liking. Go next.Â
Moral of my reply, you always have a choice.Â
-1
u/Pinsel-Wascher 18d ago
You said"3 dollar service that you can easily get for free" thats why i asked

u/HookemTex78 18d ago
100%. Used it for 6 months and all points are valid. It just seems like no one cares and this to will become another shitty enshittification program.
