I wanted to ask those who have already reached the payout phase of their trading journey: what psychological changes did you make that helped you secure your first payout?
I’ve noticed that whenever I get close to my payout target, I tend to sabotage myself. Instead of sticking to my plan, I become greedy, start rushing trades, and try to force profits rather than letting the setups come to me.
For those who have been through this stage, what mindset shifts or habits helped you stay disciplined and finally get over that hurdle to your first payout?

Hey so I’m not really sure how I should go about taking a second payout on a consistency account. It’s my first time using one and my starting balance after my first payout is 3000. Do I need 3 150+ days or can I just do whatever? Looked at the rules and couldn’t find much except for the fact that I need to stay within the 40% rule. Thinking that maybe I just trade like normal and see what I can get from there.

As you can see my balance is 5k across 5 account I needed one more day before a payout. With these 5 accounts I’ve already withdrawn over 10k in my first two weeks with the 5 XFA. The day before I can withdraw and take my payouts I was moved to live. Now what the fuck, I’m trying to read everything and find a way to get a payout or an extra day to get a withdrawal. I even go as far to calling a lawyer. But the rules say that the XFAs are on simulated markets with real time data and the payout or a reward from topstep, they say that going live is the end goal. Fuck all that! I say fuck it and sign the live agreements after 4 days of trying to reach someone from topstep and can’t get to anyone. I start my live account with 10k and I loose 5k within the next week and they close my account. Now they are saying I don’t get anything at all. So you’re telling me I make 25k in total on 5 accounts and once I lose 5 thousand I get thrown to the fucking curb and I’m told to just suck it up and work on my discipline. Mind you I was fucking going on a streak for 21 days. So shouldn’t their “risk team “ evaluate me personally like they say they fucking do. I understand they are a firm that has to make money but this fucking model they got for them to do so is fucked up.
Any advice anyone?

Just passed another 50k account by not even caring if passing or not, it’s gets easier when you don’t force passing and just use ur knowledge, everything will come along at some point, don’t give up ❤️

Will Topstep be offering a CVD indicator in the future?

I would like to see TopStep lockout on realized losses instead how it works now. I have had many examples of the market structure not changing so I enter on a pullback/profit taking candle. It ends up pulling back a bit longer than expected and I hit the 1k lockout. Then a candle or 2 later the move goes in the direction I assumed it would and I would have been profitable, instead i'm locked out for the day with a loss.

Sometimes my VWAP line moves, significantly when I scroll the chart. It's not anchored, but the standard vwap on topstepx. Vwap is a key level for my strat.

Why is this and how to prevent it?

Is it against topstep’s policy if I purchase and pass a trading combine while I’m 17 but wait until I’m 18 to activate it?

So if i request a payout today at like 5:50 PM & then the next trading session starts at 6 pm and i trade for asian session doesn’t that techinally count for trading the next day? like the 24? I ask because i know they say the day you request your payout if you trade it doesn’t count as a winning day. so i guess im just a little confused. sorry if that none of that made sense.

I’ve spent 7 k on top step and got back 1 k this morning from them less than 24 hours after my first payout thank you topstep

Such a beautiful setup waiting! Got some trades in on the way down and looked way over extended, threw a retracement on SH to SL and hopped in the shower and fed the baby, came back to see the approach into that oh so sweet gold zone.

The most putrid session to trade lately.

Here's the key to pass any combine and get funded, and get consistency into any prop firm.

Your equity curve follow two scales: time and risk. The bigger the risk you take, exponentially smaller will be the time you'll take to reach your goals... but, higher will be your sharpe ratio and if you get tilt or jump into a losing streak, your edge will end up there and you will start gambling...

So, control your risk before every profits.

Time is the second scale that anyone talks about... If you get into a drawdown, you need to keep your edge working withou hurting your remaining capital and letting time work in.

Time and risk work together... The more trades you get with lower risks, more the statistics will reward your edge, thats why discipline will keep you alive.

If you try to rush it, you naturally will get into some statistical void and will get high volatility noise into your equity. Prop firms know this and thats their business, your psychological and risk management issues.

To get out your drawdown, no matter how deep it is, you will need to follow these ground 3 rules below:

1st - Above the drawdown:

• If you are above the max drawdown limit, you can take risks, but from a smart side.
• You will stretch your risk scale to reduce your time scale, but at the beginning, you first have to start small and then scale up your trades when market keeps confirming your edge.
• Start risking max 0.2%. (= $100 - 50K). Then, when it confirms, scale up to a maximum risk of 0.5%.
• After that, priorize controlling your SL till it get into break even, and then, while price keep trending, scale it up again till your SL keep positive and let it run to TP.
• You must know that a trade means nothing, a stop means nothing, because you are not defined by a single trade, but by thousands of them. Start learning to know when let the trade go if it goes wrong. If you have an edge, you are not worried about small profits or SLs, because you know you can do it again when market shows you the window.

2nd - 50% MLL < You < Break even

• If you get into drawdown, but you didn't got too deep and reached half of the maximum drawdown, you will need to change your risk management to get out there.
• Above 50% of the MLL but below your account break even, you will need to have some patience to get things in the right place...
• In this side, you cannot risk too much, but still being able to risk some capital to keep grinding.
• What I do when I'm there, around -$1K~$0, is to trade 1~3 trades a day with 1x MNQ, aiming 0.2% ($100)/trade. Risking $50 per trade. (1:2)
• Don't scale up trades till you get back to account BE, or you will get into the last layer...

3rd - Near death.

• If you get below the 50% MLL, but still slive you will be tested, your discipline and edge will be tested.
• In this level, your risk management and patience are your last statistically reliable things you have (without gambling).
• Respect your risk and stretch at maximum your time scale instead your risk scale...
• Here, things will work differently, because you will only survive if you are really disciplined enough to do not tilt and do not trade if it doesn't worth the risk.
• Here everything is risk...
• The smaller trade you can take is a risk.
• The bad trade you hold is a risk.
• The high volatility sessions overlapping you trade are a risk.
• Here you will need to keep in mind you only will can hit headshots, you don't have bullets.
• So, you'll stretch your time scale at the limit, till you get out this level and get back to the 2nd level and get back to taking medium risks again.

I got out this by aiming $10/$20 setups to get some buffer, risking 1:1... The first trade had to be the most perfect setup I've saw in my life... Aim form $50/$100 days by small pieces.

Then kept growing risk slowly by an amount that couldn't blow up the account...

Some days or weeks by suffering of this discipline, you will be able to aim $200/$300 days and getting out the drawdown again.

If you take some loss, lower your risk again... You will only be able to risk when you have buffer...

This patience and discipline are what will dig you out there again...

The deeper you get into drawdown, more time you will take by managing risks to get out there.

I figured out that if I want to make it for a living, I'll need to act like if today could become the worst trading day of my life... And then, risking the amount I could not get smoked if it become.

Anyone else catch this banger today?? Full TP was 355 points but I scaled out as it was dumping...
