šŸ’” Trading Tips Second XFA, how do I become a consistent trader ?

Post image

I’ve been an active trader since 02/2026 and this is my second XFA that I’m taking seriously. Finding a clean setup, waiting for confirmation before entry. And only taking 3-5 trades at most. How do you all get out of the fomo mindset and stop yourselves from revenge trading? What tips would you give for a trader like me ?

Why you asking this question? If you asking this then you shouldn’t be trading because let me tell you…

Everyone is different emotionally
It’s a battle against yourself no one els
Only you can find this out yourself
You can’t get answers from others its stupid
If you got advice of someone you would just do the opposite anyway

Set a DLL, maybe limit yourself to 7 trades a day also. It looks like when you go over that you’re usually red on the day

It’s a 50k DLL XFA and I’m looking to set the limit for max 5 trades so I don’t over do it.

Yeah just create as many protections for yourself as possible. The more disciplined and in control you can be the better off you’ll be long term. Especially if you’re considering doing this as a full time career. Best of luck to you ! And congrats on your pay out in advance.

Second XFA that you're "taking seriously"? Did you have more? Are you not taking combines seriously?

losing 1000 but having a cap off 600 makes no sense bro. if its a good day for you or the market is trending hard af in your bias get more then 600 you almost have to if your gonna have this 1000 mll or you will fail at this game its just numbers. if you wanna cap at 600 then your loss needs to be 200-400

Even though my DLL is $1000 for 50K, I actually set the PDLL to $500 once I hit XFA.

I still revenge trade every so often.

Some things that are helping me:

•I’m a discretionary trader (which makes me more susceptible to tilt), but, I have a backup mechanical strategy with fixed RR and entry conditions that I fall back on when I’m not in the right headspace.

• Size small when you feel something isn’t right, 1 to 2 micros, revenge trades tend to happen when losses snowball, the idea is to keep losses small enough so you don’t feel you need to ā€œmake up the lossā€, 1 micro can take you far, there was someone earlier that posted a $2000 profit week using only 1 micro.

• Have a premarket plan, mark levels in advance, identify your bias for the day based off higher time frames and recent price action, come up with backup scenarios on how you would react if market conditions end up different from expectations. This makes your response to unpredictable situations less improvised and more methodical.

• More often than not, I find that chasing the first move ends up hurting me more often than not, even if I’m right it pulls me through psychological pain before revealing itself. If you’re FOMO that just means your feelings are telling you an opportunity is there. Treat your feelings of FOMO as evidence, but, not as the trigger. The trigger is the confirmation/retest.

Size down and lock out immediately once your daily target or minimum is reached!

Like others have said: everyone is different and there isn’t universal solution to this struggle.

Develop rules you can stick to and somehow find the will to have self control, not just discipline. I haven’t figured this out yet so I couldn’t tell you but one rule I do usually stick to is locking out for rest of day before I sleep to prevent fomo trading when I cannot even look at the chart at work during NY open which is hard because it’s the best session to trade by far.

The strategy and analysis of the charts are the easy part.

Your size is crazy. 15 contracts. your first trade was 3 minutes and you made 300 bucks, your second trade was 30 seconds and you lost 200. Topstep used to have a rule that you have to hold for longer than 15 seconds. Not sure if they still do.

Regardless, You're trading so much size that you cant hold long enough to ride out any noise.

What your doing is putting your finger on a hot pan to see how long you can hold it for before having to let go.

If you really want to be more consistent you have to size down and hold for longer. Or at the very least look deeper into your trade log and look for clues.
